Really Professional Vet Care 12/6/2008

Dr. C saved my dog's life! After her annual shots, we were paying for servicesand Lulu started to keel over. Dr. C scooped her up and put her on I.V. immediately and revived her. turns out, Lulu does not tolerate the Distemper shot. Dr C acted immediately with confidence on how to handle this emergency. You can always find cheaper health care for your animals, but these people are pros. They also spayed her when I got her. Lulu means too much to me to shop for cheap health care for her when I found people who really care and are well educated in their field. Maybe a nail clipping at Pet Smart, but nothing medical. I will NEVER take my dog anywhere else. Pros: Real pros in their field more

Saved our dog! 11/9/2008

Our dog became very sick and we were told by our previous vet to euthanize her after a week in the hospital. We took her to Urban Vet and Dr. C gave us hope and our dog another chance. The staff there was great and were extremely caring. She was in their care for a little over a week before she finally recovered and is now as good as new. They also were willing to work with us on the price so that our dog could receive the best care. A little more expensive but definitely worth it!!! Pros: Great caring service. more

Wonderful and Caring Professionals! 8/26/2008

I adopted my German Shepherd just over a year ago. I found Urban Vet Care through this website and they have been nothing but fantastic. My dog is very dog aggressive, so they know that when Kira is coming she needs to get into a room right away. Kira also has a tendency of getting into mischief (most recently eating a pack of gum out of my purse); every time I call the vet they take the time to find out the problem and address it accordingly. I would trust this clinic with my own care, let alone my dog's. Yes, they are a bit on the pricey end, but that is what you get for good service and a caring touch. If you don't like it, pay the 5 bucks and get your vaccines at the Petco. Top Notch! Pros: Great service & attention to detail Cons: Maybe a bit pricey more

Way too pricy!!! More money does not mean better! 7/10/2008

\r Hello,\r \r I agree that staff in Urban Veterinary Care is extremely friendly, warm and seems to really care about your pets. However, they are very pricy. I have two kittens and for their booster, rabies shots, and some additional tests, that they claimed were necessary, I?d spent at least 90$ - 190$, each visit, for 4 months (for 1 cat) in a row (he was perfectly healthy too). And finally my kittens neutering procedure? after he spent there all day, from 8 a.m. till 7 p.m., they sent us to the ER, because he was bleeding? Now I know that it?s not necessary their fault, whatever went wrong there, yet it was a very intense and extremely painful experience for us and our kitten, not to mention the cost, which was over $1000.00? and I?m not going back there with my other kitten.. Especially, when there are lots of great, caring LOW COST clinics around. You can find a link in P.A.W.S website, and find one close to your home. I did a lot of research and asked people around, and came to a conclusion: more expensive does not mean better care! So my friendly advice to you: Save yourself money for shots/neutering/spaying/chip procedures, instead - invest more in your pets healthy diet, and that will help to stay away from the vet \r \r Kind regards,\r Gintare\r Pros: friendly Cons: try to get as much money out of you as possible more

Our dog LOVES going to the Vet! 5/20/2008

My husband and I got an 8 week French Bulldog puppy in February and we took him to Urban Vet Care for his first check up and shots. Frankie, our pup, had a parasite when we got him and we were pretty concerned for him. Dr. Dodin and her staff were so kind yet professional - I felt fully confident that Frankie was getting the best and most thorough care. The staff remembers Frankie every time we go in for a check up and he gets sooo excited to play with them and get special treats. Best of all, I feel the pricing is reasonable and Dr. Dodin is always prompt for our appointments. Frankie and I will never go anywhere else! Pros: The doctors and staff sincerely care for the well-being of your pet. Very thorough and trustworthy. more

Great vet care 10/19/2007

I have been very happy with the quality of care for my two cats. They even performed services free of charge on my last visit. I highly recommend Urban Vet Care. more

Great care for my dog! 7/26/2007

this place is great! i just bought a beagle pup about 3 months ago. he has had 3 wonderful visits to this clinic. everyone is so nice and you can tell they genuinely love animals and care for your pet. i highly recommend this clinic! Pros: nicest staff Cons: nothing! more

My dog loves them 3/30/2007

Every time we have brought our dog in, they are wonderful. You can tell that they just honestly love pets, and really want the best for their patients. The vets are helpful and willing to spend as much time as you need to answer your questions. They are gentle with the animals and my dog actually wags his tail the whole time he's there (even after a shot)! Also, they are always willing to help on the phone if you have a question.\r \r Most importantly, they are knowledgeable. This vet figured out my puppy's problem that the other vet hadn't noticed. Pros: really nice staff, knowledgeable, always willing to help, the cleanest vet I have ever seen Cons: probably a little more expensive than other vets more

The most caring staff you'll ever find 2/15/2007

My dog gets spooked by people she doesn't know. The staff were really great about making her, and by extension me, really comfortable. They listened, and were really great about sugesting ways to help her out.\r \r Pros: Great staff Cons: more expensive than my last vet more

Not recommended 12/18/2006

Front desk assistants are annoying and rude. Office visits are overpriced. Vet not prompt - showed up 20 minutes after scheduled appointment. more

Wonderful Vet 11/17/2006

Everyone at Urban Vet Care is fantastic-the front office team, the nurses, doctors, everyone. Great location, with easy parking. On time appointments (little waiting) and everyone truly cares about your pet-they treat them as if they were their own. Our dog and cat have been treated great! Highly recommend Urban Vet care. Pros: Staff, parking, location, facility more

THE BEST VETS IN THE COUNTRY! 3/28/2006

I have been to many vets in Chicago, NYC and Ohio. Hands down, Urban Vetrinary Care is the absolute best. I was in school when one of my cats became diabetic. Not only was he diagnosed (another vet said he was fine) but he was treated and his life extended by many months from a near death condition. During his illness and after his death the doctors and staff were more than kind. They allowed me to pay my large - but very reasonable - ongoing vet bill over time (again I was a student with little money). They also never refused to see my beloved cat because I could not pay at the time. Thank you Urban Vet, you show that vet medicine is not all big business and $$$ centered corporate number crunching. Bless you Drs Hatfield and Besner! Pros: Best Doctors, Kind Staff, Everything! Cons: None! more

Excellent! 2/21/2006

Everyone is friendly and caring....smart and informative. Love this place- Pros: informative, friendly, caring more

my husband and i just moved back here from florida and were in search of only the best vet care for our little boxer girl...she is only a year old and unfortunately has already had a pretty rough life healthwise...nothing but the best would have been satisfactory in our eyes...we researched vet after vet before choosing urban vet to visit and we cannot comment them enough for their friendly staff and their dr.'s thorough care...unlike other vets we have been to they did not in any way rush the visit or seem distracted...they were fully focused on our angel and gave her the best care we could have asked for...urban vet met our girls needs beyond measure...thank you staff of urban vet...thank you dr. john! Pros: very clean, thorough care, attentive more

Buster 2/12/2006

On Feb. 4th, we had to put our beloved bassett hound to sleep. It was the end of the day on Saturday, and I'm sure the staff was anxious to start their weekend. Everyone was so kind, they gave us all the time we needed to make the decision and all the time we needed to say goodbye to our Buster. As hard as it is to put a pet to sleep, this was as pleasant as experience as it could have possibly been. The Dr. even had tears in her eyes. We take our other animals there as well and I don't think you can find a better veterinary clinic anywhere. They are truly a great team. more

Unparalleled 1/22/2006

I disovered Urban Vet almost 10 years ago & have never been happier with a vet. I've taken 3 dogs there & every visit was fantastic. The practice's additions only increased my love for UV. When I put down my childhood dog, there was an abundance of compassion & caring, & later I received a sympathy card. Every recommendation resulted in another client. I walk in the door with my 75-lb., 1.5 year old beast of a dog & immediately receive a smile and a personalized ""hello."" When my parents bring in their dog, everyone inquires about my dog and vice versa when I visit. I cannot gush enough about Urban Vet -- and not just because I have limited space here -- so I'll just say that anyone who brings their beloved pet here will not be disappointed!! Thanks, Urban Vet -- you guys are the best!! Pros: Phenomenal Service Cons: Nothing! more

Wonderful service 11/8/2005

I agree with the other reviewers on this site. The vet techs and veterinarians in this office are very friendly and caring. Cats typically hate leaving their home and going to the vet but my cat actually enjoys her visits with the people here! I like the fact that the office follows up with you after your visit to make sure everything is going okay. Also, for the nortside I find it surprisingly easy to find parking near the offices. The Saturday hours are also extremely helpful. Pros: Friendly, Convenient more

This place is the best 10/31/2005

I had to wait a week to get in but it was well worth it. I walked in to a relaxed setting that didn't look like the sterile, cold environments in most clinics. I was greeted right away by a welcoming staff that asked how both myself and my dog was. There was hardly any wait even thought hey seemed very busy. The doctor was great and answered all of my questions. The 30 min appointments are plenty of time to get things done. I recommend this place to all of my friends and people I see on the street. more

Great Place! 12/15/2004

I came here first when another clinic would not see my elderly sick cat. They were compassionate and gentle in a tough situation since I found out my cat had a large tumor. They even sent me a condolence card after her death! I bring my two new cats in for all their check ups and shots. They obviously love animals and it shows in the gentle and loving way they treat my furry friends. They call when they say they will and follow up on things. I highly recommend them! Pros: Caring, Always available, Compassionate more

For my dog and cat 6/25/2002

I moved here from out of state and these guys were very nice to my dog on her first visit. They actually crouched down with doggie cookies instead of putting my 60-pound dog on the table. That's a first for me. So, I wasn't too surprised when they were just as kind and loving to my kitten. They are open on Saturdays too, which helps with scheduling shoots and such in advance. Also, there are a couple parking spots in the back. more
