Editorial review from Citysearch 4/9/2014

I appreciate the concern the staff has for myself and my pets. I appreciate Dr. Forney's knowledge and advice. She has the patience of a saint and the compassion of Mother Teresa. She finds practical options for your situation and allows you to make the ultimate decision. more

Ms. Wolf, I would be happy to address your concerns if you would like to contact me at the hospital. But briefly, the comparison made here is unfair in that it compares other hospitals' ""starting"" fees to our full service fees which include a full time anesthetist, IV catheter placement for safety, comprehensive pain management and extractions, should they be necessary. Not all 4 door cars are created equal and neither are all veterinary dental procedures. We deliver the best care available for those who seek it, by a very committed and compassionate team, at a very fair price. Please rest assured that the testimonials from satisfied customers on our website are authentic and not uncommon. Sincerely, Jim Ack, DVM more

Excessively Expensive 12/24/2010

This is the most expensive vet I've ever seen, and I've lived in Seattle, San Francisco and Washington DC. \r \r They stick their head in the door as you wait and suggest expensive diagnostics before even looking at your pet. If you don't actively resist their many suggestions they'll get you to spend hundreds of dollars everytime you visit. They quote $500 to $1000 to clean cats' teeth when all other vets start at $250. \r \r I once left a review about this vet's prices on another website, and the vet called me to deny that he is expensive and to tell me that my review made his employees feel bad! As a result, I don't even buy cat food there anymore. \r \r There are many reviews objecting to this vet's financial practices, and I wonder if most of the glowing reviews that do exist are written by employees, relatives or friends. \r \r more

Really caring people and great care 1/7/2010

As a former employee who still takes their pets there, I can tell you that these people are all about offering the best care available. I never saw a treatment or a recomendation that wasn't about what was best for the pet. The folks there bust their butts to give the best care available every day - and they really do care about the pet. Like anything else you get what you pay for. It's just not true that they'e about the money - they're about the health of the pet. Dr. M is one of only a couple of board certified vets in the state. All the vets really know their stuff and really care. I would trust my pet's care to them before anyone else. Pros:Awesome care and a great facility with friendly staff Cons: sometimes so busy that you can't get right in? more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and yummy cookies! 10/24/2008

University Pet Clinic staff are so friendly and LOVE your pets. They also cater to humans because they offered soda and freshly made cookies for us to enjoy while we were waiting for the doctor to see us! I expected the bill to be huge because the building is brand new and has everything you can possibly need for your pet, and they were voted Best of State, but it was very reasonable in actuality. They also gave me an estimate for some work that I was thinking of doing for my cat, without even asking me if I wanted one. That was great because it allows me to plan ahead for that visit. Although I hadn't taken my cats in for an exam for a few years, they didn't scold me for it, and they gave me friendly advice about the care of my animals, rather than criticism. I will definitely be bringing my cats and my dog back there, for the great treatment, the knowledgeable staff, and the yummy warm chocolate chip cookies! Pros: knowledgeable staff, very friendly to pets and owners, beautiful office Cons: took a little longer than I thought, but with the refreshments, I barely noticed more

anything for a dollar 8/17/2008

Well After being a customer at the university pet clinic for many years i will definatly be taking my pets elsewhere. I took my dog in to have his clipper burn looked at, (I was shaving him for summer and ended up giving him clipper burn) and figured they would be able to give me a cream to put on in to make him feal better. NOT! they wanted to sedated him and clean him up ect ect. I was shocked at the $780 quote for CLIPPER BURN. I left fealing i was being pressured into doing unnecessary things to my dog all to just help them pay for the new building. I took my dog to another vet and was reashured the clipper burn was mild and would clear up in a few days but they did give me ointment to help with the irritation. My new vet was very caring and sympathetic, and apparantly dosnt have to pay for an expensive new building because the cost was $67. If you want to go to a vet that makes you feal guilty for not going along with their redicilous treatment plan thee this is the place for you... Pros: nice building Cons: Money hungary people that only want your money at any cost. more

The level of service is tremendous! 1/8/2008

The level of service they provide was well above my expectations. From the moment I walked in the door and was given a very welcoming greeting, to the technician that helped my pet, and the doctor that explained everything to me that I had questions about.. Pros: Friendly, and I thought the prices were fair Cons: Wish I could bunk there. The hospital was beautiful. more

Take out a credit card first...$$$$$ 11/25/2007

This used to be my vet. I love the staff, great care (they really do care about my pet), great location, beauitful new building, but I just could not afford them anymore. I switched to a vet I could afford (who is also very caring). I spent more $$ here in 2 years, than on my own healthcare in last 10 years. If you have the cash, they're great. Pros: Caring staff, great office and location, good work Cons: only one - could no longer afford... almost had to take out a loan...over priced, sorry! more
