Fine Dining 1/14/2012

I've been here many times and its always been a good choice. Delicious food. Seasonal menus. Great vegitarian options. A little on the pricey side. The atmosphere is a little upscale, makes me want to wear a jacket, but its still relaxed enough to speak freely. Its the kind of place I would go when I want to make a good first impression and get to know them. more

Great Date Night 7/29/2010

My wife works in the area so I met her for our regularly scheduled date night dinner Friday and Truxton's was packed. Service was surprisingly fast and their seasonal menu rocked. We were shocked to find a gluten free pizza and one that tastes better than most regular crusts. Our server told us we could substitute this crust on any of their pizzas even though the menu didn't list it. Turns out that sharing the tomatoe basil bisque, cambozola and fig pizza, rotisserie prime rib (Fri/Sat special) and Big O cookie made for a great family style dinner (oh, plus her Sweeteani and my Margatini). Normally we try a new place each Friday but we're going back tonight for their July winetasting with another couple. Pros: service, seasonal menu, Lou the bartender more

Worst in Los Angeles 1/31/2009

I have been living in LA for 8 years, I eat out a lot and this is the worst restaurant I have ever been too in LA, I don't even have to think about it. This was a Friday night, all of the other restaurants around it were full and this place had 3 customers, I should have taken the hint I guess but I was hungry. I ordered a Portabella burger and a Pizza for my friend. The bread on the burger was stale and get this, my $9.75 burger arrived at my table without any meat (yes without meat), I spoke to the waitress and she said I needed to order the meat separately, wow. Anyhow, when the meat came out, it was tasteless and the salad in the burger was far from fresh. I got the impression that the burger came to them pre wrapped and they heated it up after it had been in their freezer for some time. The Pizza was very ordinary, just tasteless cheese on stale bread and a little pepperoni, nothing like a Pizza at all. I summary, it is as a nice looking place with horrible food. Pros: Restaurant had a nice appearance Cons: Food is the worst I have had in Los Angeles more

Poor service 8/19/2007

I'm a first time reviewer and I had to review because of the other positive reviews here. I'm usually pretty easily pleased as long as I can get a cheeseburger at a restaurant, so I was surprised to find this restaurant to be very subpar. We waited 30 minutes to get our meals as people that came in after us were eating and finishing before us. Waiters are out in the open taking small breaks in an open dining area rather than in the break area, and this is the first thing you see when you walk in. After commenting on the wait time to our waiter, he explained to us that this was the normal wait time. If that's true, it's clear they are going to have trouble. Pros: looks nice, great construction Cons: poor service more

Great food, friendly atmosphere 5/30/2007

Truxton's specializes in classic American-style dishes that taste great and are served in huge portions. The waiters are friendly and courteous, the atmosphere is inviting, and overall, the experience was great. I've been a couple times, and enjoy the chicken fried steak with sweet-potato fries. Pros: Great food, great portions, great service Cons: none to speak of! more

Best New Affordable Restaurant in Los Angeles 5/22/2007

Just found this restaurant after a recommendation from a fellow co-worker. This has become my family new favorite restaurant. Located in Westchester about a few blocks from the Airport this hard to find restaurant is a must go to. The food and service are excellent with a diverse menu that everyone can enjoy. Was just told this week they are planning on opening several new stores throurgt the La area. Don't usually spend the time to write up reviews but they were worht the effort. Cheers more

good eating 3/4/2007

My sister in law recommended Truxtons , so my family and I decided to try it Friday night. We arrived around 6:15pm and were seated within 20 minutes. The atmosphere was friendly and the food smelled great. The wait staff and hosetess were very professional and kind. I had the yummy and large Gilly burger with garlic fries. Hubby had the Portland burger (he was very pleased.) my 10 yearold had the All American burger with sweetpotato fries. The service was fast and efficient . WE also had empanadas for for appetizersvery good. We will go again, hopefully to the Sunday brunch! Pros: good service and good food, clean restrooms, more

Great Variety 12/31/2006

Our family loves this new addition to the neighborhood. A great restaurant within walking distance from home. The service has always been excellent, and the food has been superb every time we've been there. The menu has great variety for those that like fish, beef, or chicken. The choice of draugh beers is also very adequate. My wife loves the specialty martinis served at the bar. We keep returning a lot more often. more

AMAZING! Anything you could want! 11/16/2006

I order from these guys 1 or 2 times a week and they are wonderful (and they deliver!). I love the Bistro Salad and the Rotisserie Chicken with chili sauce. yummm. The husband loves their taquitos and burgers and brisket. Yummy desserts too. I haven't had the cocktails yet - but the y have some really yummy looking ones. Pros: FOOD, LOCATION, PRICE more

Vietnamese Avocado Spring Rolls are Amazing! 11/3/2006

The avocado spring rolls are great starters; the soy-based dipping sauce is the key. My boyfriend and I have been to Truxton's several times. Twice there were minor problems with the service during busy times (once we got a free dessert), and I chalked it up to their recent opening. However, I personally never experienced rude servers, so I was genuinely surprised to read the other review. I'm going again tomorrow and bringing friends, so I'll see if the servers have gotten less friendly. Pros: Very good food, friendly service more

Avoid the shoddy service 10/25/2006

I was excited to see a new restaurant in the Westchester area, but ultimately, Truxton disappoints. The dining room was half filled when I came in, but it still took 15 mins for me to be seated, and another 30 minutes for my order to be taken (I was dining alone.) After 45 minutes of waiting for the food to come out, I asked my waiter what the hold up was, only to be blown off. Finally, 1:15min after my order, they bring out my brisket with none of the side dishes it was supposed to come with (just meant on a plate) and when I ask about them, I was told that the kitchen is busy and he was not the cook. For my 2 hours of time wasted and cold brisket, I was charged $17 (I did get a free coke). I will NEVER go back. Pros: good location, nice dining room Cons: terrible wait staff, poor service, mediocre food more
