Do not hire TLC moving. I hired them for an interstate move and had a horrible experience. They contracted my move out to a 3rd party, and the movers said they were going to show up at 7am and instead showed up at 11pm. I had taken the day off of work to meet them, and when I called them to ask why they hadn't showed up, they lied and kept telling me that they'd be there in a couple of hours. I wasn't told I needed to have cash for the remainder of my moving fee, and given the late hour, it was too late to go to the bank (my ATM has a limit on the withdrawal amount in the event of theft). The movers refused to give me my stuff unless I paid on the spot, and said it would be at least another month before I would get my stuff if I didn't give them the cash immediately. I ended up having to call a couple of friends to draw enough cash to pay them, which was quite embarrassing, particularly that late at night. The majority of my items were also damaged including a dresser that had been given to me by deceased mother, a bike, couches, and many other items. I submitted an insurance claim with photos of the damaged items and never received anything at all, and the owner threatened to sue me for posting a negative review on citysearch. The movers also threw garbage in my neighbors lawn, which resulted in the neighbors calling the police. I highly recommend avoiding this company, particularly if you're making an interstate move. more

Hi Michael, Good morning and happy Monday. Just wanted to let you know how wonderful and stress free the move went thanks largely to the 4 great men you sent to do the job. It seems to always be an unknown when hiring a moving company in NYC because of the many horror stories you hear over the years. This certainly was not the case with TLC!!!! Your movers were highly professional and extremely competent. The foreman explained everything to us and put our concerns at rest and helped ease the emotional pain of moving. We are selling our house upstate NY, about 2 hours from the city and we would like to use TLC to do this job as well. I would choose to have the same foreman if possible. He had a appreciation and respect for fine furniture which I witnessed in how he prepared our furniture for storage. Thank you Michael for convincing us to sign with your company.You were always professional and showed extreme patience with the many calls and questions I had for you. From day one and continuing throughout the process to the final move day, TLC not only met but exceeded their mark in the areas of their trade, speed, professionalism, communication and pro-activity (just to name a few). To top it all off, they were friendly and repeatedly went above and beyond, at times even dealing with multiple rounds of phone tag (I am not the easiest person to track down).. Their persistence showed me that they were passionate about what they do, and committed to the happiness of their client. We were very lucky to have such a hardworking, professional team carry out this very important move for us. They truly are the perfect mix of brains and brauns. I found TLC and a handful of other NYC moving companies through a simple google search. Through a weeding out process based on the â??best bang for our buckâ?? metric, I decided that TLC was #1 in terms of quality of service and affordability. It wasnâ??t until after I got off the phone with Michael John, Senior Project Coordinator of TLC Moving, that I knew for certain that TLC was 100% the right mover for us. Michael was attentive to every last detail of the move; he worked with us on pricing and even coordinated to have boxes delivered to the apartment for the move. In the beginning of the process we also changed the move-date on Mike a couple times. But every time he was very understanding and accommodated our wishes. I am sure he worked a couple of miracles behind the scenes that we never knew about. He also helped coordinate the move with the two building co-ops, who are notorious for their short moving-window hours and strict rules; which went absolutely seamlessly. On the back end, after moving day, he also worked with us to be sure that all of our needs were met, which I thought was a fabulous touch. I assured him that they were and that we would absolutely be using TLC for our next move. When moving day was upon us, the movers showed up right on time and got to work immediately, following all instructions set forth by the co-op moving rules. They worked hard, and were very meticulous and polite with every item, big and small. If they had questions, they asked, and then got right back to work. It was a big move, and it took the whole day- but they worked seamlessly and by the looks of it, although I am no expert, they used every minute as efficiently as they could- I know I couldnâ??t have asked for a better outcome. Moving in NYC is a challenge, period- but TLC took away so much of the anxiety involved, which made my moving day a day that I could actually enjoy. I had booked my move from the UES to UWS with another moving company months in advance. The moving company I booked with confirmed with me two times prior to the moving date. On the day of the move, they showed up nearly 3 hours late and were totally unprepared. It was a complete disaster. I was helplessly calling around and the prices were so high and the moving companies I called didnt want to take the job since it was so last minute or they didnt have the capacity to do so. I called TLC and spoke to Omar. He was extremely helpful; calmed me down and said not to worry that he would make sure the move would go smoothly for me. Omar as well as Paolo (a dispatcher) and two other men showed up. Omar and Paolo aren't even movers, but they were willing to move me since they were shorthanded since this was a last minute job., THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR THE COMPANY and their RESPECT for clients! They moved me to my new apartment in just about two hours. The price was EXTREMELY reasonable. All four of the men were clean cut, true gentlemen and extremely helpful and careful when packing me up. They were very professional, efficient, and asked multiple questions throughout the move to make sure everything was moving along as I had wished. The move with this company could not have gone any smoother. The moving truck was very clean. It was the most high end experience I could have EVER anticipated. I would recommend this company to anyone. Anytime I move I will use this company only; it is the first experience I have had with a moving company that ran so smoothly which started out as a disaster and they did a total turn-around for me. From the first estimate of the job to delivery of my goods, my experience with TLC was a joy! They made the process of moving so smooth -- they really put my mind at ease. The movers showed up (Chelsea, NYC) on time, and were professional, courteous, helpful, and hard-working. I'm a stone sculptor, and the move involved moving several 500-pound stones. The guys were well-prepared, and had the truck loaded in about half an hour. They then navigated to my studio 100+ miles away, and set up the stones where I needed them. I'll recommend TLC to other artists I know who need movers from time to time. And of course, I'll call them again to move my sculptures and stones in the future. more

My last move with TLC was by far my best. I have moved 4 times since I move to NYC and have used a couple of different movers my experiences ranged from mediocre to terrible. With TLC I am very much happy with their service. The sales rep was always reachable and on hand to answer my questions. The movers were approachable, knowledgeable and took care with my furniture. The price was fair and I was quoted what I paid. I will use these guys again when i want to move over NYC. more

Moving is so stressful and I moved on 5/19/2011. My foreman Andre was so professional and explained all the paperwork to me in detail. He could see that I was stressed and let me know that he will treat my furniture as if it were it were his own. The team worked diligently and took such care with my tvs, bed and couch. I was so impressed with their work! I used to be in the military so I was used to moving and knew the drill but this was by far the smoothest and easiest move I ever had. They delivered all my boxes and furniture and everything arrived with care just as Andre had predicted. I would work with this same team again and will let my friends know to hire the team that I worked with. I am truly a satisfied customer. more

These posts are a sham, created by the owner to make you believe they have a good reputation. They are committing a massive amount of fraud, their foremen have been known to threaten customers (and press for tips), and they do everything in their power to postpone or even avoid paying for damages. They no longer have a claims department and the claims they do have date back to last year and even before then. They don't pay up and have even tried to blame customers for their own damaged furniture. They're still trying to get away with not paying for a Flat screen TV a foreman stole. Don't trust them. The workers haven't been paid on time in months. Make sure your building double checks the validity of their Certificate of Insurance. They have been sending out fakes all over NYC to allow them access to buildings they are not covered for. If you want your job done right, by honest reliable people, you don't want TLC. more

These guys are amazing -- they moved our 2-bedroom apartment across Manhattan, into a 5th floor walk-up, in 4 hours, with zero stress or effort on my part. When I called to schedule the move I spoke to Melvin, who was accomodating and clear about cost. I immediately knew we were in good hands. TLC dealt with my building manager and getting the insurance certificate sent in. They sent me boxes (for half off), but when the movers came we still needed all our furniture wrapped and things like lamps and Tivo boxes packed. Our foreman, Naseem, showed me the cost of the packing materials and gave me an estimate. The original total estimate was for 4 movers and 6 hours, but since it's a walk-up TLC decided a 5th mover was needed. To make up for the higher hourly rate, the guys worked double-time and had the apartment packed in a couple hours. They were entirely professional and friendly, even after carrying sofas, consoles, and mattresses up 4 flights of stairs. We have 2 very valuable (and heavy) oil paintings that were packed perfectly and arrived unscathed. Naseem even spotted my hookah and stayed after I'd signed the paperwork to give me some tips on where to buy the best tobacco. The cost was a bit higher than the estimate because of the extra packing materials, but still cheaper than other estimates I'd gotten, and the 4-hour move time was phenomenal and really cut down the price. Even if the cost had been much higher I'd have been happy to pay it, just to have such an effortless, stress-free move. This is a well-organized team of pros working like a Swiss watch. I can't recommend TLC highly enough, and I'll definetely be using them for future moves. I can't thank them enough for turning what's usually a nightmare experience into a pleasure. more

In my search for a moving company that would move our company I discovered TLC. TLC is the best. The team including Mike was so patient with me answering all of my questions, and making me feel secure that all our delicate equipment will be handled with care. Well on the morning of the move Dwight and his team showed up 30 minutes early and once they began the day just flowed. Again Dwight was patient with all of my questions. Once we were in our new space his team put us back together again with such care and patience even after 10 hours of moving. TLC is one of the best and the care they showed our items was unbelievable. If I ever have another company move TLC will be the only company I will call. When you move use TLC and ask for Mike he was great. more

Moved with them on Sunday from the upper west side to Yonkers and it took less time than estimated. The movers were polite and very professional and the best part no damages. I will definitely recommend them. more

I can't believe how stressed I was to have other people touch my stuff, but now that it's over, I'm so relieved all my things got to my new apartment safe and sound.
