The Place Dominican Hair Salon

I moved from NYC, and searched for a Dominican salon that was close to both home and work. I came across The Place who has locations throughout the metro area, and all the women were so friendly. I was a little anxious at first because I didn't let just anyone (especially in Atlanta) touch my hair. As I waited, I watched all the women get their hair done and saw the results which put me at ease a bit despite the fact that the primary clientele were black and I'm a Slavic Jew. They went beyond my expectations and I left with gorgeous hair! I've been a faithful customer since and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. I normally see Gladys but the other ladies are sweet also, they don't mind answering any questions about how to replicate what they have done. more

Today, I'm really mad at how these women did my hair. I had to go back home and touch up my own hair. I go to Evylon (If I'm spelling her name right) on an every two week bases but this week I couldn't make it on Friday. So, I went on Sunday and she was not there. So then, I just tried out this lady name Gladys if that her name she got blondish hair and she short but Evylon have the same color hair but that other lady is rude. I wish I could came on Friday. Today, the lady half press my hair and did silk my hair like Evylon did.... Concluding this I mad and maybe find someone else who can do my hair better but I will come back for only Evylon. more

I was thrilled to find a domincan salon that was closer to my house. I went in once and it went ok. I went back the next time and the stylist suggested I get a rinse to lighten my hair. That should have been a clue. She said it was all natural and rinses out in 6 - 8 weeks. The color took my brown hair to an orange hue. The next day my hair was shedding like crazy. I went back to the salon and they told me that the girl who did my hair left Atlanta for good. That was BS because a friend of mine went there and she was still there! Bottom line they used permanent color when she promised me a rinse and my hair was relaxed and had never been colored. It has never been the same since. Now I'm trying to grow out the relaxer and see how we do with it natural. Cons: They lied! And damaged my hair beyond repair more

Well I fist went their for a wash and set...I am used to other Dominican salons but the Place is closer tomy home. Even though I made an appointment, I had to wait for a while because apparently they wereout shopping!\r Anyway, they washed my hair, put me under the dryer with deep condition, then washed it out put me under the dryer to dry my hair(no rollers). Then I had a blowout and style which seriously I could have done better! (and Im no hair pro)...anyway, paid the 45 bucks and I left their pissed-out vowing to never go back!\r Stupid me, 3 weeks later I decided to go back for a relaxer. Made an appointment 3 days before and called and hour before to make sure my appointment was held and they told me they had no record of me (should of been a sign!!) I still went, got the relaxer done, wahsed out, shampooed, conditioned (NOT DEEP), then put unde the dryer...afterwards, got a blowout and flat ironed...SO NO ROLLERS, NO TRIM, NO DEEP CONDITIONER and yet it was still $75!!!! My hair just looked limp and stupid on my head! That just did it for me! Then the Gladys chick has the audacity to tell me that I didnt request the rollers (DAMN IT IF ITS PART OF IT DO I NEED TO REQUEST IT)???? Anyway, I have dealt with other hair salons and they are not even ranked on my list of decent ones...the only plus is that the INTERIOR of the salon is looks cute, but as far as performance, they really are awful! SO AGAIN I WONT BE BACK AND DONT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL! Pros: very fast Cons: Results were awful! Overcharge for botched work!!! more
