The Grand America Hotel

A good friend got married and it was held at the Grand America Hotel. The wedding was for family members to attend only and then afterwords the reception was open for her family and close friends. The reception was held in one of the ballrooms in the hotel. When I walked through the doors and into the room, my breath was taken away by the beauty. Flowers were placed everywhere. The tall ceiling made the room feel majestic. The room was a good size and never once did I feel crowded. I'm not sure how much my friend paid to have her wedding there, but I do know that it was very well put together and everyone had an amazing time. more

The Grand American Hotel is located in the downtown center, next to the TRAX light rail system. Their beautifully decorated facility is matched by fantastic customer service. The Hotel definitely earns it's 5 diamond rating. You will truly enjoy the lush carpets, gorgeous floral arrangements, a lovely pool and peaceful courtyard with fountains and hedges. Rooms are huge -- with luxury linens, marble bathtubs and spacious glass-walled showers. Turndown service includes a comfy bathrobe and chocolates. The Garden Cafe breakfast buffet is pricey but worth it! The week I visited fresh raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries were such a nice addition to my creamy cooked oatmeal. Very good coffee, too. Dinners at the Garden Cafe were excellent, especially the tomato bisque soup and grilled tuna. Restaurant service was superb in the Cafe. Alcoholic drinks from the bar are pricey and probably the most disappointing part of the meal. Service in the bar was slow -- and the service staff underinformed. If you use the poolside bar service, be aware there is a hefty delivery fee and added gratuity. Conference facilities are excellent, if highly priced. The $250 AV fee for a high-speed internet connection into a conference room seemed unreasonable. Lunch and food break service into our conferences was subtle and thorough. The meeting rooms were clean & comfortable. I did not have the spa treatment, but co-workers said the deep tissue massage was excellent. more

OK I had no plans driving into the city, so this was a last minute reservation. Far exceeded my expectations, a beautiful old hotel with beautiful rooms. A nice ala carte breakfast service in the lobby. Definitely the place I'd stay if I went back. Centrally located. more

Even though we live close to Salt Lake City, sometimes just "to get away" we go there to stay for a week-end. We have also been to this hotel location for wedding receptions. The hotel is lovely. The employees are friendly and the decor is exclusive to their hotel. This is a high quality hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. more

This is the best place to stay if you are coming to salt lake city. Ive only stayed here once, but i have been there numerous times for weddings and meetings. The place is Amazing, somthing you would expect in vegas. Get pillows as well. I would recommend the place however it is pricey, but probably not as much as you would expect to pay for the quality. more

I stayed at this hotel for a few weeks during the 2002 Olympics and loved it. The entrance way is palatial and each room is decorated to the hilt to the point that it can get almost gaudy, but not too much. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious and the staff is amazingly helpful and courteous, tending to your every need. The breakfast/bar area inside the hotel is enjoyable as well. The concierge is there around the clock to answer any questions and even the owner of the hotel likes to walk around and talk to the guests. more
