Best

Owner operated and the attention to detail shows. They switch up the offerings in the case on a regular basis. \r \r Don't forget the savories in the case on the left: gritatta,...

Worst

I’m enjoying my breakfast sandwich from sweet 16th as if it is my last, because this is in fact my last breakfast sandwich from sweet 16th! I just recieved nasty customer service...

I've been hanging at Sweet 16th for Seven years. 5/12/2011

Owner operated and the attention to detail shows. They switch up the offerings in the case on a regular basis. \r \r Don't forget the savories in the case on the left: gritatta, soup of the day, and the Dos Papas Burrito which is kept in the back (refrigerated). \r \r more

Poor customer service 4/20/2011

I’m enjoying my breakfast sandwich from sweet 16th as if it is my last, because this is in fact my last breakfast sandwich from sweet 16th! I just recieved nasty customer service from Dan, who I understand is one of the owners. Shame on you sir, you should know better.\r Just as I was about to order, I noticed dog treats in a jar on the counter, I gently removed the lid and began to pick one up as he snapped at me “Ma’am that is not a self serve item!” he then made a big show of pointing to the tiny sign next to the jar, “Just like the sign here says.” in a very condescending tone. I was a bit shocked at being spoken to like that at 7:30 in the morning and apologized quickly. He did not acnowlege my apology and continued to talk to other customers. I was tempted to tell him to forget it but decided some dude with a chip on his shoulder would absolutely not ruin my day or my breakfast! I win, you lose. more

Save the Gas $ and Find a Spot on Your Side of Town 4/5/2011

Horrible Service. I don't live in Nashville, was charged with ordering scones for a tea-party themed baby shower and it took me some time to find a Nashville local bakery known for scones -- I found Sweet 16th around 30 hours before the party. I ordered 2 1/2 dozen and asked the gentleman with whom I spoke to confirm that the scones would be of a certain size to keep with the tea party theme -- specifically, I asked that they be smaller than those sold at Starbucks (otherwise, I could save the long trek to East Nashville from Brentwood and order from Starbucks). I picked up the order only to find that the scones were equal if not larger in size to those at Starbucks and when I questioned the owner, he shifted blame to me saying that I placed my order (over one day before) at the last minute. His explanation for the condescending tone? He'd worked a 16 hour day. Ultimately, he wanted to do what he wanted and couldn't have cared less that I was unsatisfied. The scones tasted well, but given the less than stellar customer service, I'd save the gas. Even a nearby grocery store bakery (Fresh Market's bakery for example) or Starbucks would suffice. \r more

Rude phone service 5/5/2008

I've never actually been to this establishment, but I probably never will since the woman on the phone was so condescending and rude. I mean really, it's not like your running a law firm, it's a freaking bakery. more

Best cakes ever! 4/10/2008

I'd rate Sweet 16th 100 stars if I could! I ordered a few cakes for my husband's surprise birthday party a few weeks back. Being 5 months pregnant I am very scattered these days and completely forgot to pick them up before closing time. Dan, the owner called me on my cell phone and stayed until I arrived. I ordered a chocolate, chocolate cake and an Elvis cake - both were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! They received such rave reviews at the party I went back a few days later for more. There is no other bakery as far as I am concerned. Pros: Amazing customer service more

Great Pastries and Service with a Smile!! 10/24/2006

I stop by several mornings per week and pick up a box of sweet goodies for my customers! And they love me!! The pastries and coffee cakes are always fresh and delicious! Thank you for opening in my neighborhood in East Nashville! Love you guys and thank you for always taking care of me!! :) more

The Best Bakery in Nashville 9/21/2006

This is the best bakery in Nashville. I have lived here all my life and have visited most bakeries in town. I like to host parties so I use bakers for my sweets. This bakery is different than most in Nashville. It reminds me of something you would find in a big city like NY! It is very clean, sleek, and fresh. Here is what I have tried and shared them with others and they agree too: Coffee Cake = 10, Chocolate or Vanilla Cupcakes (get request to serve these at baby showers/B'days) = 10++, Lemon Bars = 10, Chocolate Pudding = 9, Toffee Blondies = 10. WOW! I promise you will like it, and it is worth the drive to East Nashville. The owners are friendly and use fresh ingredients!! Great Job Sweet 16th; you take the cake! Pros: Food and Ambience Cons: Parking, very little parking but can park on the street safely. more

Home Sweet Breakfast 7/25/2006

I am surprised that I am the first to review this wonderful establishment, as it is a very popular Saturday morning hangout for East Nashvillians. The gritatta is a must-have, and the scones are the best in town... nay--the world! I've yet to order anything I didn't love. Pros: Pastries, Cookies, Confections Cons: Not open in the evening more
