The dinner menu is excellent. The Star of India serves a wonderful selection of Tandoori dishes as well as curry and other favorites. The chicken tikka is especially tasty. They also have a range of flavored naan and a great traditional Indian Mulligatawny soup. more

If you like Indian Food, you must try Star of India. Come for the Lunch Buffet. It's marvelous. Every day there are different choices, as well as regulars. Try the pumpkin. The manager and staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. The Bollywood movies are also fun. more

Star of India is an original in Salt Lake for Indian food.\r \r The menu has all the standards and more that are just as tasty and good as you'd get in an actual home cooked Indian meal. The buffet is a good option if you want to try a few things at one time, but I usually get the same there: chicken tikka masala and I get it extra hot with my naan. It's good stuff!\r more

I have been going to Star of India for over six years in both the old and new location and hold it as the gold standard against every other indian restaurant I go to in the US. The people are warm, knowledgeable, and eager to help. The Chana Masala is the best i've had in the world. Highly recommended. more

I ordered the thali, and man it was good. Good main dishes, roti, raita, sweets and the whole deal. Very clean and friendly environment. I think they have alot of iranian waitresses.But the food is extraordinary, i did not order the main menu items, as they were pricey and i had never been to this place. The thali which is like a small portion of alot of dishes was great and filing. HIGHLY recommend for value and food for the thali.\r more

The food at this downtown SLC restaurant is wonderful. All their tandoori dishes are well prepared and the naan is generous sized and baked to perfection. The lamb is delicious. Well spiced and obviously made from quality meat. Make sure you use the mint sauce that accompanies the meal. It has a real nice spice that compliments the meat. The chicken has the texture of organic game and the shrimp are a nice size. We had the tandoori platter and a lamb dish, both which we would order again. We went on a Tuesday evening and were able to be seated right away since they aren't as busy as the weekend. The restaurant was clean, the food delicious more

It was a fun experience 5/7/2012

My husband and I found Star of India and decided to give it a try. We were both kind of skeptical because we'd never had Indian food before but when we finally got our appetizer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and delicious nan to share we were SO happy we stopped in to try it. It was a fun experience to eat there and it had a nice atmosphere. We are very excited to go back and try something new next time! I would say it's my new favorite type of food! more

The food, service and prices are great. Being Indian and eating at a lot of Indian Restaurants Star has got to be my favorite. My fiance and I eat there 2 times a week. We always go Saturday for their amazing buffet, and dinner time to order off the menu. It's great!! 5 stars hands down!! more

The food is excellent and so is the service. First time eating Indian Food. Was introduced by a co worker. Loved everything on the buffet . Would definitely recommend it for a wonderful dining experience. more
