Superb place to worship and fellowship among friends 11/1/2006

To me, a church should be a place where one can find love, peace, joy, a sense of belonging and teachings that are based on fundamental teachings of Christ. St. Luke typifies this for me, a small and warm community of all peoples, full of kindness with an infectious sense of joy where people are truly friendly and caring. We are recently blessed with a new priest who preaches with warmth and engaging sense of humor. Our weekly service will provide you with hope, a powerful sense of Gods grace and encouragement of what God can do and is doing in your life. St. Luke also reflects diverse international representation that is solely one of a kind. I believe that everyone that visits St. Luke will witness the same sense of love, joy and belonging that is truly special. I honestly invite you to come and worship with us and see for yourself. Pros: Great place to fellowship and worship, warm and friendly, sense of love and joy Cons: Parking may not be clearly visible from the road more

My Church home 10/31/2006

I'll never forget how I felt the first Sunday that I attended service at St. Luke the Physician after trying a number of other places in the area some sixteen years ago. It felt like coming home - at last. I had found what I was looking for - a family. My children and I felt welcome. Father Richard Maholm (now, The Late Father Maholm), was so warm and welcoming, as were the other members of the congregation that we knew then that our search for a church home was over. In spite of the ups and downs, that the church has gone through over the years, including hurricanes and other losses, we have remained strong as a family united, genuinely caring and looking out for the church and for one another. We have a new priest who has dynamic and profound methods of delivering the sermon and connecting the scriptures to our every day lives. I wish I could share what I have and what I feel with the world. Pros: Sence of belonging, very socially comfortable and spiritually uplifting. Cons: Can't think of one more

Welcoming Community 8/9/2006

OK, I'm biased. I'm the new priest at St. Luke's and it has been wonderful. The building is small, but the hearts of the people are open and warm. There are three opportunities to participate in Holy Communion each week. Two on Sunday morning - 8:00 is a spoken service, and the 10:00 has music. Then on Thursday at 7:30 there is a service with anointing for healing. We study the Bible on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at noon. Pros: The worship is relaxed but intentional. The community is welcoming. Cons: The building is small and the signs are hard to see. more
