Southwoods Animal Hospital

My beloved Dr. Joe at Southwoods , Dr.'s Clark & Mcgregor,& all their staff have shown their sincere love & care for our animals since before they moved to the location they're at now.(@Randleman Rd.& Vandalia). They Do Not over-do vaccinations as a previous person wrote here. I believe a canine rabies vaccination IS done each year ONLY if the client didn't keep her canines current from the year before; whereas if you have your dogs vaccinated On Time they (dogs) can get a 3 year vaccine. Kitty cats do get a 1 year vaccine last I checked because they 3 yr vaccine hadn't yet been proven safe.\r We have been clients at Southwoods I believe since the 1980""s & ALWAYS, BUT ALWAYS have been very happy and Grateful with the service, treatments, & sincere caring all our pets(Babies) have received there. That's why, even after moving to the North side of Greensboro we continue to take our pet family to Dr.; Joe. We Love You Doc. more

After reading some reviews I had to make my experience known as well. I was fairly new the area and did not know of any vet's. I had a13 yr old Pomeranian named Max. He began having seizures and a friend took me to Dr. Joe. I can't describe how this wonderful man made me feel. He worked with Max and we continued for a yr to try new things for the seizures. Even when I made the decision to let him go peacefully, Dr Joe wanted to try one more thing. He didn't want me to feel guilty in any way. We gave it another week. During that week..Max left me on his own. I went to see Dr Joe and the comfort I recieved from everyone at Southwoods was so heartwarming.\r \r It took me a little over a year, but i got another pomeranian. Her name is Roxie Rae. Guess where I take her for her care?? You best believe it is Southwoods. They absolutely love her!!! I have seen them at work with other animals as well.... they treat them all with love and compassion. I would not trust Roxie with any other vet. Dr Joe is the best and so is Dr. Clark and all who work there.\r \r I also want to say I don't understand how someone can say they are money hungry. Being on disability has been very difficult for me... and Dr Joe made sure Max was cared for and we always worked out something for Max's benefit. I don't agree with that statement""money hungry place"" at all!\r \r Lastly, I could go on and on...when we visit Southwoods..I feel like I'm visiting friends!!! That is how they make you feel and I love them!!! more

Dr. Packheiser & his staff @ Southwoods are exceptional with all the vet services they offer. I drove my black lab, Rubin, from Atlanta, GA for his blown knee surgery with Dr. Packheiser.\r He also spade & neutered all my 5 cats. He is a great guy that has always been very up front with pet owners. He always tells it like it is & I totally trust him & any of their recommendations.\r Superb experiences every time! more

Southwoods Animal Hospital has always been great for my pets and even my family too. Every visit is handled with my animal's health in consideration first. There have been times when money has been tight, but the Doctors at Southwoods have always showed me the best path that will best account for my pet's health with what I can afford. Dr. Violet Kirk is the vet. that I have dealt with the most and I can tell you that she knows what she is talking about! Plus, they have always been very upfront and honest with me. more

The first time I walked into Southwoods Animal Hospital was a great experience. I was there after being referred by another veterinarian in Greensboro to do knee surgery on my Saint Bernard. Southwoods Animal Hospital offers a choice on how your animals are treated which is more than I can say about some vets! 4 year boosters are available, most clients who frequent Southwoods know this. The only vet for us is Dr. Joe! We have always had our dogs and cats cared for by Dr. Joe. Not only does he care about my animals well being but ours! Dr. Joe often brings us up to date on current treatments, changes to veterinary medicines and practices. Always an informative visit with a personal touch! And where else do you get a fresh cup of Joe when waiting in the lobby, not your ""burned up how long have I been sitting there coffee""! Thank you to the staff, they always make us feel comfortable when waiting with other pets. If you are looking for a veterinarian - Dr. Joe is the way to go! more

We switched to Dr. Joe over a year ago after many years with another vet. Our dog could not get better treatment if she was Dr. Joe's own dog! The entire staff is wonderful and caring. We will continue to use and reccommend Southwoods to everyone we know. more

Dr Joe at Southwoods Animal Hospital is the most compassionate and knowledgeable Vet in the area. He has done acupuncture and helped my old golden retriever live longer and with less pain. He has the latest laser equipment that helps decrease pain and keeps my dog moving. more

I have used the Southwoods Animal Hospital for years for both of my dogs. I cannot fathom someone throwing dirty on a Vet who constantly updates his medical background and treats all animals as if they were his own pets. My dogs were adopted from this Hospital and continue at the ages of 14 and 13 to be vigorous and healthy pets thanks to their ongoing treatment from this hospital. My friends also take their pets to Dr Joe for any problems and yearly updates. So many are thankful for having someone who is a great Vet and caring doctor. more

Ollie Monty has no idea what they are talking about. Try to find a vet around who is up to date on latest techniques and procedures, from Dentistry to Acupuncture to Eye surgery. If this office does not know it they are happy to refer you to an expert. \r \r I have 2 beautiful dogs. I would never use another vet. They are the best I have ever experienced. \r \r Dave more

Dr Joe has been a godsend to me. He has done up to date acupuncture treatment and laser treatment on my dog which has helped him heal immensely. I think he is the only one in Greensboro to have such highly technical equipment and I was referred to him by my regular vet! more

Continues to follow old vaccine beliefs when the AAHA, that they are members of, has shown that to do so, is over vaccinating canines needlessly. Core vaccine boosters are NOT needed every year after the first year and veterinarians KNOW that it can cause adverse effects to your beloved pets. YET Southwoods Animal Hospital, being the money hungry place that it is, continues to do it anyway. Ever stop to think that children don't need boosters EVERY year for the rest of their lives and yet your dog does?
