It's never any fun to visit the dentist, but I had a bad experience with Dr. Romersa. I had to have a cavity filled; he gave me a shot and left the room while the numbing properties took effect. When he returned, about 15 minutes later, I reported that I didn't feel numb in the area of the tooth -- just my tongue and lower lip. He gave me another shot and gave me another ten minutes alone. I felt more numb but told him that I wasn't positive that the tooth itself was numbed; he said that two shots should be sufficient and proceeded to drill.
I felt what I'd call a ghost or phantom version of the pain -- far away, but still there. I cried through the whole procedure. Unfortunately, Dr. Romersa has a very talkative receptionist who made it worse; she came into the room and hovered behind my shoulder, chatting with the doctor about weekend plans.
Dr. Romersa is a nice man but doesn't seem comfortable dealing with a patient's uncertainty. He also has an irritating habit of making a humming noise after he speaks, which is really noticeable when you can't speak and can only listen.
