Dr. Bammel is great but I stopped going because of the receptionist. She is very rude and NEVER smiles. She makes me feel very unwelcome. She doesn't seem to care for the animals,...

Excellent care for our aging pets 5/30/2013

Dr. Narurkar and his staff are courteous and professional at all times. With two aging dogs, we have had visits for multiple age related conditions, as well as routine well care. Dr. N has always taken the time to throughly examine our pets, ask pertinent questions, and clearly explain options and costs. I have complete trust that he truly has the best interest of our pets in mind at all times. more

Compassionate, courteous and reasonably priced 4/27/2013

Dr. Narukar is an excellent vet. His bedside manner is superb, very caring, compassionate and understanding. They take care of all our cats. When one of our cats had a stroke, Dr. Narukar called to see how we were holding up. In addition, they sent a condolence card (quite impressive!). Anytime we bring our cats in the staff is friendly and prompt. We truly trust Dr. Narukar and his staff. They are very reasonably priced and don't add on extra services that you don't need. Highly recommended. more

The Best! 9/9/2012

Dr Neelesh Narurkar is a highly principled, kind and intelligent veterinarian. He has been a mainstay of comfort and knowledge to us and our cats and dogs during the hardest hours and now a major supporter and fountain of information as we start again with two new puppies. There was a reason we would drive over an hour to keep him as our veterinarian and now are excited he is practicing in San Antonio. He possesses the personal touch and caring of "old school veterinarian" with the endless possibilities of the new in treatment and care. He has surrounded himself with knowledgeable and professional office staff and technicians and readily handles illness, emergencies, health and new life with equal aplomb. more

Dr Marbach is a wonderful vet. 3/3/2011

If you want a compassionate vet, a vet that will love and take care of your animal, Dr. Marbach is a great choice. I am willing to drive all the way across town to take my dog to Dr. Marbach. I don't feel the prices are any higher than any other vet, and even if they are a little higher, I am willing to pay a little extra to know my dog is getting great care. Dr Marbach not only treats the dog but also treats the human! more

I Love This Place! 2/10/2011

I won't take my pets anywhere else!\r We recently lost our beloved dog. The care and support we received from Dr. Bammel and the hospital staff was simply amazing. more

Rude receptionist? Nope! 2/1/2011

This is just a review of that "terrible receptionist" that almost made me not call. The person I talked to Feb, 2011 was male and VERY kind. It's a good thing that the positive reviews of the actual vet staff got me to call! more

Ok service 12/2/2010

ok service. Receptionist is rude. Paid for lab work that was to be completed the next day. Had to wait 3 days. Stopped by to check on results and receptionist treated us badly. Don't know if I will return. Not sure if this is who I want to trust my pets well-being with. more

Proven people 4/9/2010

I would like to thank the Austin Hwy. Animal Hospital for all they have done for my animals.\r The Drs. and staff have always assisted us promptly and in a respectful, caring manner.\r \r Both Dr. Bammel and Dr. Marbach have saved my 3 rescue dogs from death and discomfort. My 3 rescue cats have also been treated and some unusual conditions cured because of the knowledge of these two Drs.\r \r I also appreciate the support of Pat, the office manager, the receptionist, and the vet. techs. These people are calming to patients and inspire confidence in adults. \r \r I will always take my pets to a place/people that haven proven themselves.\r We will always come to the AHAH. more

Regardless, we are having the surgery preformed elsewhere , but in the meantime the problem has re occured , and since everyone involved is aware of the problem, we were hoping to just get a refill on the antibiotics that were prescribed the first time around... Of course , they want us to bring him AGAIN , FOR WHAT , SO WE CAN BE CHARGED FOR SEEING HIM TO TELL US THE SAME INFO. WE ALL ALLREADY KNOW. COME ON DRS. WHO SUPPOSABLY CARE SO MUCH , WHATS UP ..... ANOTHER $100 TO STICK A THERMOTER IN HIS BUTT, AND PRESCRIBE EXACTLY WHAT HE NEEDS , UNTILL WE ARE ABLE TO AFFORD WHAT HE ACTUALLY NEEDS IN THE LONG RUN , A NUETER JOB,SO HIS PROSTATE WILL QUIT ENLARGING AND HE WILL GET LONG TIME HEALING , TEMP. I had no trouble 2/4/2009

The receptionist I spoke with this morning was nice, courteous and helpful.\r \r They got me in when I wanted to be seen and my dogs are very well cared for. more

receptionist is rude 2/3/2009

When calling for an appointment the receptionist is among the rudest people you will ever have the displeasure of talking to. Her tone makes it clear that she wishes that you would take your pet somewhere else and stop bothering her. Unfortunately, you have to get through her to schedule appointments or see the Vet. Not a good experience. more

EXCELLENT VET HOSPITAL 11/21/2008

I highly recommend austin hwy vet hospital. The entire staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Marbach cares so much about animals and it is evident in the service she provides. she is very knowledgeable and explains everything in great detail and in regular person language. she takes the time to call me with results and to check on my puppy everytime we have to visit her. her smile lights up the room. Best of all, our puppy LOVES her!! more

Excellent care 10/24/2008

I have a very old dog with many health problems. He has always received excellent care and recommendations from the Drs. I have also boarded my two dogs here many times with no problems. I can strongly recommend the Austin Highway Veterinary Hospital and its personable, friendly, and caring staff. more

It's a shame 7/9/2008

Dr. Bammel is great but I stopped going because of the receptionist. She is very rude and NEVER smiles. She makes me feel very unwelcome. She doesn't seem to care for the animals, either. I know at least 3 other people who stopped going the this vet because of the receptionist. more

Overcharged without consenting to test 5/17/2008

I specifically told the tech that I only wanted the annual shots and a heartworm test for my dog, however, I ended up with a charge of $115.00 for an Idexx Canine Custom. I believe this vet office is under new ownership, an no I would not recommend this facility to others. more

Very good vets 8/25/2006

The Hospital is the best animal hospital I have ever been to. They are not that expensive and provide the best possible service for you and your pets. Everyone on staff is very friendly and they seem like they care about their job, because they do a great job at it. The vets are very experienced and helpful. The wait isn't too long and the hospital is very clean. more

"World class" is the only way to describe it 6/22/2006

Our dog had been incredibly sick and Dr. Bammel and her staff took excellent care of her. I also noticed that these "animal doctors" spend more time looking at their patients than "people doctors" which shocked me but truly satisfied me, knowing that they truly care about their patients. They have flexible payment plans, which proves to me their number one priority are that the animals get the care they need and that they are happy and healthy pets that families can enjoy. The techs are great with the animals, playful and compassionate. I'm so glad that our pets go to that hospital! PROS: Great location, small staff, relatively priced, flexible payment plans CONS: Nothing!! more

Heros in my book! 11/16/2005

I had a German Shepard that you couldn't keep in a fence or chained up for anything in the world. That dog was like Houdini! She also like to chace cars and bite the tires. It was fine as long as she never caught one and actualy got her teeth into the tire. She did manage to ger her teeth into a few though and well it wasn't pretty. The first time was on a Sunday and she got messed up pretty bad. Back then there were no emergency vet clinics. I started looking up vets in the phone book and though it has been many years ago and I don't remember the vets name that I finaly found, I do remember that he worked at this clinic and he left his home on a Sunday and went to the office and opened the door to me a child at the time. He stitched her up and fixed her broken leg broken leg and sent us home with medicine and instructions for her care. He sent my parents a bill for $28.00 in the mail. He was her vet for life and he saw her after being hit by cars 7 times and each time he would patch more
