For an International airport, RDU is small and easy to get around in. They have construction going on, so that causes some confusion, but its not too bad. Well lit and clearly marked signs, provide good direction for traversing the airport. Rental car locations located on-site, which is really nice if you're short on time. Long term is located off-site, but only about a mile away and they run about every 15 minutes or so. Parking prices are reasonable. Pros: Traffic signs and parking. Cons: Inside the airport is crazy like all the rest, but you can blame TSA and the Govt for that. more

Perks with a cost 11/6/2002

RDU is a good airport because it is a small airport with some modern conveniences. You won't find a huge selection of shops here like Hartsfield but you won't get lost in a maze of tubes and concourses either. It serves the business community well as a functional airport but you'll pay the price if you have an early morning flight. Forget getting any taxi driver to come pick you up to take you to the airport if you have a flight earlier than 6:00 AM. You'll have to drive or have someone drop you off. Pros: Easy to get in/out, Parking shuttle Cons: No early AM taxi svc more

Gets the job done 8/8/2002

What I love about the RDU airport is that it's small. What I hate about the RDU airport is that it's small. There's very little chance you'll get lost looking for your gate here, and when it's time to claim your bags you only have a few moving belts to choose from--but otherwise the perks of a smaller airport wear off quickly. There's nothing unique or flashy about RDU; bookshops are limited, coffeeshops are mediocre. The new parking decks do offer some relief. more
