They saved my Guinea Pig's life... 10/10/2011

I took my guinea pig to Paws & Purrs Grooming where they found a tapeworm. I immediately took him to Providence Square, without an appointment, and they treated him with urgency and all the loving care I could have expected. They were extremely friendly and concerned about his condition. They answered all of my questions and were so attentive to my little buddy. My guinea pig could have died if they hadn't treated him, but there was no question whether they could see him and no hesitation in treatment. They are also very familiar with small animals/exotics, as I had previously taken him in for a check-up about a year ago. more

We have Siberian Huskies and have been going to Providence Square Vet for a year now. I went to them on the recommendation of my mom and dad who have been going there for over 10 years. The staff there is incredible. I call all the time for information and they don't make me feel like I am bothering them. They make us feel like we are family. Our dogs get so excited when we tell them we are going to the vet. They have also cared for the six puppies one of my dogs had. Dr. Smith is the best vet, he takes time to explain it all. This was our first litter and he made us feel so comfortable that we had no problems with the delivery or the puppies. Thanks to them for all they have done for us. more

I have used Providence Square Veterinary Clinic exclusively for my Siamese cats for at least 10 years. I have found them to be absolutely the best facility I have ever used. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and my favorite doctor, Dr. David Smith, is wonderful. Not only is he very skilled and caring, he takes the time to explain everything to me. I have called him at home on many occasions and he has never made me feel that I have intruded on his privacy. Just this week, he met me at the Clinic on Sunday afternoon to examine my ailing kitten. I wouldn't consider using anyone else.\r \r Sally Yates\r Virginia Beach, VA more

I won't ever go back! 8/14/2007

My family used this vet office for many years, but that was about 3 major staff changes ago. The current staff is not very friendly. When I went the last time, the vet kept walking around and never took my dog to an exam room. He forget several tests and I had to make another appointment. He also said my dog wasn't very friendly (my dog was previously abused and takes her some time to warm up to new people, especially men). Then they gave me the wrong medicine for my dog. Somehow this was my fault and I had to pay for both medications. I am very happy at the vet I use now- which is no where near this clinic! more

They did a wonderful job helping me with my dog growler. I had taken him everywhere and they were the only ones who diagnosed him properly. The staff was very friendly, especially the young man working as an assistant. PROS: wonderful in everyway CONS: none more

Providence Square Veterinary Clinic 10/8/2005

This clinic is not very friendly and their prices seem very high. The don't seem to like to answer any questions you may have, you have to go in and pay for an office visit. Parking is easy as it is in a shopping center. PROS: Convenient to get to, good parking CONS: Not very friendly, high prices more

  • Providence Square Veterinary Services and Referral Services About us Providence Square Veterinary Clinic offers the highest possible standards of medical care for your pet. We take pride in our personalized, high-quality style of medicine. We are staffed with experienced and well-trained personnel who are dedicated to animal welfare. Our clinic contains state-of-the-art equipment and surgical procedures. We believe cleanliness is the mainstay of successful medicine, and insist on rigorous cleaning and disinfection. We invite you to tour the clinic. Who is treated at our clinic? We provide services for small animals and exotic species. Among those regularly treated here are dogs, cats, birds of all kinds, snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs, "pocket pets" such as mice, gerbils, and hamsters, rabbits, and even fish. Be sure to browse our bulletin boards for a look at the variety of pets that have been treated at our clinic. You might find it challenging to identify them all! Medical and diagnostic services: In addition to immunization, micro-chipping, preventive health care, and behavior counseling, our clinic provides a wide spectrum of medical and diagnostic services. In-house laboratory facilities are available for blood testing, microscopic cytology, fecal tests, complete urinalysis, and antigen tests for heartworms and viral diseases. We routinely use outside lab support services for histopathology and specialized blood tests. We provide endoscopic services including gastro-intestinal endoscopy, arthroscopy, and otoscopic examination. Radiology services include complete gastro-intestinal tract series, dental radiographs, myelography, and other contrast procedures. We also offer evaluation for canine hip dysplasia using Penn hip or Ofa procedures. In the area of exotic animals, we offer routine medical care in addition to diagnostic procedures, treatment and surgery. We also offer advisory services on pet selection and husbandry (nutrition, preventive medicine, and proper housing) Surgery and Anesthesia We offer a full range of surgical and dental treatments, including abdominal and intrathoracic surgery, dentistry , periodontal and endodontic treatments, ophthalmic procedures including eyelid deformity repair, and stabilization of joints and ligaments. To ensure the safest anesthesia for your pet, we utilize a combination of pre-surgical blood screening, circulatory support, state-of-the-art controlled ventilation and gas delivery system. For extensive procedures, the patient's blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation are continually monitored. The yearly exam When you bring your pet for its yearly vaccinations, the most important aspect of the visit is the annual physical examination. Your pet doesn'?t let you know about a problem until it becomes severe and then it is often more difficult and costly to treat. A proper yearly examination consists of: -evaluation of general appearance, including body condition and weight, the condition of the coat and skin. -check for external parasites -palpation of the superficial lymph nodes -palpation of the joints -examination of the oral cavity, including teeth, gums, and oral mucosa -auscultation of the lungs and heart -body temperature -examination of the stool for parasites -thorough examination of the eyes and ears -for dogs, checking the blood for heartworms The result of this thorough examination allows the doctors to recommend proper treatment, dietary measures, and grooming. We recommend a yearly examination of all pets, including exotics. If your pet is over seven years of age, a geriatric evaluation is also suggested, which may include blood work, digital radiographs, and an Ecg.
