Terrible experience 8/12/2008

My experience at Port of Call was horrible. I dropped in there in hopes of catching the end of a baseball game that I was listening to in the car. It took me 15 minutes to find someone who could change a television to the game. I waited and waited only to be told it wasn't on. I assured the it was and if they only search they will find it. I went up to the manager who assured me his staff was much knowledgable about the games that were on then me and I must be wrong. Just then the bartender who I spoke with prior - said I guess I can go waste my time again if you want me to. I turned to the manager and said what is that ? He merely shrugged his shoulders. As I am headed out the door - the same bartender says hey I found it - you happy ? I was able to watch the end of the game and left as soon as I could. Pros: Good location Cons: Terrible service - staff has horrible attitude more

Getting to popular for its own good 8/6/2008

While the bar is fun on Fridays. The terrible door man and staff of bouncers keep you waiting in line even when the bar is relatively empty. The door man needs some behavioral classes as he is the biggest waste of skin I've ever run into waiting in line for a bar. Pros: Good looking people Cons: This is a place where everyone tries to pretend they are someone important... more

CROWDED! Not the most fun I've ever had. 2/12/2008

This may be the cool place to hang after work, but at night it is way too crowded. Got hassled getting in on Saturday. Nowhere to sit, service took FOREVER and the prices were a bit high. The only redeeming grace is that you have to meet new people because everyone is in your personal space bubble. Drinks were good, but this will not be on my ""must do"" list. Pros: Good drinks and lots of poeple Cons: Too many people, not enough servers more

Drunk Billiard Games all the way 8/15/2007

it was fun, i'm not gonna say amazing, but i would defintatly go there on a daily basis. it's big enough as to where you won't be running into people constantly and you can have your own space. Billiards are cheap, you could play 6 games for the price of a regular beer. Speaking of Beer, that's really well priced too. You could get a massive mug, I'm talking like a 40 oz mug for like the price of two hamburgers at mcdonalds. :) I liked it. Defintatly a great place to chill with your friends after an irritated day at work. Pros: Cheap, but Good Cons: wood floors - easy to slip on when your durnk :) more

Adults and tourists... 4/23/2007

....you really should avoid this place. It used to be the ""old stand by"", however; we went last Friday night and I was mortified. The crowd was white trash and I felt like someone was going to pull out a gun. Thank god they didn't. Pros: They serve beer Cons: You might need a gun to keep safe. more

What happened to the customer 11/13/2005

Port O'call used to be a great place any day of the week. Since the Olympics in 2002, the size of the club as well as the size of the staffs heads ballooned out of proportion. Getting a drink isn't easy there, and even if you managed to obtain one it might have tasted decent if the bartender paid attention to ""bartender 101."" I just feel the staff should take more initiative in setting the mood for the clientele, instead of the bleak loss of personality from the get go. It was good when I was 21, now its an eye sore on 4th south. There are too many good choices for bars and clubs to settle with Port O'Call. Pros: drink selection, crowded Cons: no personality, smokey, lack of talent more

Good Place! 6/2/2005

I completely disagree with the previous review. The whole scene is fun and lively. The food excellent and the service has always been good too. It is the place to see and be seen. A good mix of customers, young and mature both. The drinks have always been good and with three floors of entertainment how can one go wrong? The trick is to get there early, before 9pm. My only wish is that they would have more band nights. Pros: variety, food, entertainment Cons: crowded, smokey more

Down The Tubes 9/23/2004

I used to enjoy this place before they decided to expand. Now the service SUCKS. The drinks are WEAK, even for Utah standards, and the whole scene is HORRIBLE. If you are considering going here, I have one bit of advice: Walk by, hand the bouncer everything in your wallet and walk away feeling ripped off. At least you'll still have those hours of your life you would have wasted by going in. Pros: 1 hot waitress Cons: , parking, drinks more

Sam's the Man 9/3/2004

I love Port- especially on Thursday's. Not too crowded, good food, there are always guys there to buy you drinks and the service is fabulous. Not to mention they have the best damn looking employee's in town. Weekends get packed too. I love that place- no matter what day of the week it is. Oh and one good thing- all the ladies out there can feel safe- the bouncers do not tolerate creaps- and will kick anyone out if needed. Pros: the men, the staff, variety of floors more

Figure out what you want to be. 1/25/2004

Sure Port O'Call always seems hip you don't necessarily know what you're in for when you show up. There may or may not be a band playing, or possibly there's a DJ playing techno, or maybe you can get a seat to eat something. It's a restaurant/bar/sports-bar/dance-club/live music venue that doesn't really know what it should be, so it's just average at everything instead. Because of this I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. more

The port is simply the best sports bar a 2/5/2003

I have traveled to many places and yet never seem to find a place like the Port. The food is so so but the have everything you can imagine to drink and the bar service is excellent. The in crowd is always there and you can get almost any game your looking for on one of more than 50 tv's. I love this place!!!!!! more

Excellent 1/22/2003

Good Brews, Good Fun, Good Food, Gaming Rooms, Many, many TV's excellent on wednesdays.............. Pros: Several TV's, Gaming Rooms, Good Prices Cons: Crowded, Private Club more

Awesome Soul Band!!! 1/20/2003

Catch THE SENSATIONS SOUL BAND upstairs at Port O' Call usually on a Saturday night. They are the most unbelievable Band I've ever seen. They are the only band in this Salt Lake doing Real Soul. If you miss them, its your loss. more

Great Place for a Good Time! 12/14/2002

Without a doubt the most laid-back and enjoyable club on the weekends in all of the salt lake scene! more

Darts anyone? 12/13/2002

Port O'Call is definitely the place to be on a Friday night. We are usually there every weekend, and wether you want to get your groove on on the dance floor or just hang out and play darts, it is a great place. more

PLACE TO BE! 11/15/2002

PORT O' CALL, IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BEST BARS TO GO TO. IT'S A LITTLE TOO CROWDED ON THE WEEKEND, BUT OVERALL IT'S COOL. I ALWAYS GET TREATED FRIENDLY WHEN I GO THERE. Pros: FRIENDLY PEOPLE, NOT ENOUGH PARKING, LOVE THE NEW LOOK Cons: TOO CROWDED more

love it 10/11/2002

If you're under 21, they are really good at noticing fake IDs. But the crowd is awsome. The bartenders are the best. You can meet really cool people here. Check it out! more

Plenty for everyone!! 8/15/2002

This place is HUGE! I counted 8 bars, 18 bartenders, 9 pool tables, 2 dance floors, 39 different draft beers, and about a zillion square feet. Most drinks came at me with speed and accuracy, though once I waited over a minute. All different kinds of people to see, some more my type than others, but with 1500 of them to choose from, meeting new people was easy. This place needs more bathrooms!! Pros: Crowded, Beer/Liquor Selection, Prices Cons: Crowded, Lack of bathrooms more

3 floors of memories. 8/8/2002

Port is a place where everytime my friends & I are looking for a place to go it seems to end up at Port. Possitive side is there are things to do Drink,Games, bands/ Dj's to dance to, Socializing, I always meet new & different people. Old, Young, Foreign, whom come to see what SL has to offer, Not a whole lot but I always leave port with a memory. It really depends! The Negitive is the membership. Someone buys a membership, they go back again & they make you pay full charge anyways, especially for regulars, the waitress are rude, I always have to get my own drink, stand in line because the waitress walk past you or sit & talk to friends, I'm a waitress also & it sucks there are bad servers at such a great bar! don't get me wrong I still tip. Pros: 3 differents levels, Great bartenders, crowded Cons: mbrship means nothing, waitress suck more
