Went into this store a few days ago and upon entering i saw the ""reptile section"" which is actually just an end cap.
They had 3 or 4 tiers on this end cap. The top tier of this there was a half grown Cornsnake and a Ball python right next to each other. Thier living space was terrible, there was absolutly no space for them to stretch out, they had no chance for a cool and a warm side. All that was able to fit in that tiny terrarium was a Small bark like plant, and a small water dish.
Now I have 2 Baby Corns at home. They live in a 20 Gallon Long tank.. These little guys that i have are about 1/16 of the size of what that Corn snake in that (by a guess) 3-4 Gallon Terrarium.
They had two diffrent spaces for the same type of gerbil, same gender, but they could give these poor snakes more space? They are torturing these poor things. I was furious...
Thier rodents and brids have decent living conditions, not many friends to play with in the Rodents, but at least they have space to move properly. As well as thier humane socitey section gave the cats more space, but thys jsut simply had nothing to do, i saw one toy in one of the 5 spaces where they had cats.
These are Adult cats in little glass boxes, with nothing to do but sleep and eat. Granted they have space to stretch out, they simply have nothing to do.
I stopped and watched some lady grooming this beautiful male husky in the grooming section, she was brushing himand cleaning his under coat. The whole time she is doing this it looks like she is tering his skin with the brush, the poor dog is squirming and trying to get away, and she is standing there talking and still brushing.
I have a husky at home as well, not as big as that guy in there, but just as furry, and she never reacts like that to us brushing her, even with an undercoat brush, and she absolutly hates being brushed. This poor dog was going through hell being groomed there.
Also, thier Aquarium section....
had some nice fish species, a decent selection.
about half way through jsut past the gold fish im looking at them with my daughter and i see 3 dead fish half eaten floating around in one of the tanks...
while they are floating there I see 2 employees standing around the crickets talking about restraunts.
Im glad my daughter is only 2 years old, seeing something as disgusting as that is enough to temporarily tramatize a little kid.
In my opinion, as a pet owner and a parent,
Do not shop at this store, So not shop for this company, if they keep this store open while thier employees are this careless about thier animals they are not a good company. Do not bring you children to this store either, it is not kept very clean, and in my opinion no kid should ever have to see reptiles squished in thier terrarium, dead fish in tanks while employees do nothing, and groomers hurting animals from lack of care. This store needs to be shut down. It is not a safe place for animals, and I can not Believe that NHS would even consider putting thier animals there for adoption.
I'm disgusted.
