Patio Cafe 2/10/2009

We enjoyed pomegranate mimosas, passion fruit iced tea and watermelon lemonade and tried the low-carb Crab Cobb Salad, Tortellini a la Pesto, and the Outrageous Albacore Tuna Melt. \r Next out was a Tri-Tip Sandwich, which was served on a fresh baguette. The meat was very tender and had excellent flavor. The Focaccia Fun Melt was next. The combination of turkey, lettuce, tomatoes and onions baked with pesto and mozzarella on hot focaccia bread was scrumptious. We also tried the Tortellini a la Pesto, made with fantastic three-cheese stuffed tortellini and grilled chicken breast, served in a light pesto sauce topped with toasted pine nuts and shaved parmesan. Our next dish was the Portobello Margherita Pizza also, and surprisingly, from the low- carbohydrate lunch menu. The thin, whole grain crust was topped with fresh tomatoes, roasted garlic, moist grilled Portobello mushrooms, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese. The final dish was the Grilled Chicken Asparagus Wrap. Enveloped in a whole grain, low-carb tortilla with parmesan cheese and ripe tomatoes, the wrap included a side of sweet Honey Mustard dressing for dipping, in addition to the crisp asparagus and flavorful chicken. \r Although everyone claimed to not have enough room for dessert (including me!), we all jumped for the treats Robin brought to our table. \r The first one was Stuffed French Toast, a common breakfast choice, but also a great dessert for a group to share. Stuffed with blueberries, strawberries and cream cheese, and topped with walnuts and powdered sugar, this dish is decadent whether you have it for breakfast or dessert. \r Next we tried a moist German Chocolate Cake followed by a Pumpkin Square. I really enjoyed the pumpkin square, which is such a seasonal pleasure. \r Want to know more about local hot spots and the tastiest dishes around town?
