A miracle in pain reduction! 2/10/2009

Since attending pilates classes at One on One, I have experienced an incredible change in my body. No more back pain! I am a very physically active woman and I had always thought that I would simply have to live with the constant pain, as I danced or walked or did yoga. No more. The pilates classes offered at One on One are small and intimate, with teachers responding to your individual needs. They pay attention to your specific body issues and offer moves to help improve your strength where needed. A great variety of moves are covered, from beginning to more advanced. After class, a lovely, quick massage is given to help you relax! One on One Portland Pilates is one of my favorite places to be. more

Great instructors! Attention to detail in customized, goal oriented workouts and great massage too! 2/5/2009

I've done a lot of Pilates over the past 4 years, here in Portland and in CO and Barb and Linda are among the best instructors I've worked with. They really pay attention to detail, both in customizing your session to your needs, as well as making sure you're doing each exercise correctly for the maximum benefit and to protect from injury. more

Get the most for your money 2/2/2009

\r At One on One Pilates, whether it is a group mat class or an individual session, you work with trained, experienced insturctors-who really know what they are doing and will focus on you. The exercises are always changing, challenging and the hour is never boring. I have had other Pilates instructors, but in my experience, One on One is the best.\r Gayle Marger more

The ""core"" truth about One on One 1/29/2009

With exceptional instructors and lots of individual attention, the classes at One on One Portland Pilates are not to be missed! Linda and Barbara share their deep understanding of the body and training in Pilates exercises with great humor and insight into how to adjust the exercises to each student's needs. This commitment to helping each person, coupled with small class sizes that allow for such personalized work, makes One on One a must try if you are looking for a Pilates class. Pros: Great instruction, small class sizes more

Focused & Serious Pilates 1/28/2009

I am just finishing my first full year of pilates at One on One, attending class 2-3 times a week. Excellent instruction & teachers, serious focused workout, small classes so teachers are able to give the best attention to each student and a convenient location with parking lot provided so it's easy to park and get in to class. more

Best in town 1/28/2009

Best Pilates in town 1/28/2009

I have been going to the studio and it's instuctors for about 7 years. The are absolutely amazing and have helped me strenghten my core and body. During my last pregnancy, while working out at the gym, I noticed my core was stronger than most non pregnant members, thanks to One on One. Pilates Linda and Barbara are great at modifying exercises to help you build a strong core and body and make if fun at the same time. The classes are a nice size, less than 10 and usually adverage 4-5, which gives the clients great individual attention. I took my first class over 7 years ago with Linda and have been addicted ever since. I have been to other instuctors but none compare to Linda and Barbara!!! Give One on One a try and you will have fun and come out with a stronger core. Pros: great instructors and great individual attention more

Pilates at its best 1/28/2009

I've been taking Pilates at One on One Portland Pilates for 2 years. It's a small intimate studio where students receive individual attention to help do the exercises correctly and safely. It's always fun, never the same as the instructors find a variety of ways to work all the muscles, and we are always worked hard. Depending on the mat class size, we often are able to use the reformers, cadillac, etc. I am noticeably much stronger overall and no longer have back pain or spasms. I am now able stack 50 pound bags of feed for my horse without repercussions. Pilates at One on One is the best thing I've done for myself and can't foresee giving it up. I love it!! Linda and Barbara are fantastic. Oh--And we often receive a mini massage when class is done! Pros: individualized knowledgeable instruction, parking lot more

Pilates at it's Best 1/28/2009

In October I began a private Pilates class at One On One Pilates Studio. I chose it after hearing positive comments from friends and the great location of the studio. My goal was to find a program that would help me resolve lower back problems and add streghth to improve my golf game. The results have been amazing. My core has improved tremendously, my back pain almost totally eliminated, and best of all, my golf game has improved. On top of it all, working with the staff is a real pleasure. They are knowledgable, friendly, fun, and the equipment and facility are first rate. I enjoy my time and I am always surprised how fast the hour goes by. Pros: Great staff, location, facility and equipment. Plenty of parking. more

Where did those abs come from?!?!?! 1/28/2009

\r \r I take the mat classes and love the ""one-on-one"" attention given, regardless of the number of people in class. Not to say that they are overly crowded, as that is not the case. It has been more than two years that I have been taking pilates, and it has strengthened my back and given me abs I never had before! Linda is always coming up with new moves, and while we complain because they may be difficult at first, before too long there we are in positions we never thought possible, and feeling very proud of ourselves. It's a comfortable atmosphere, very clean, and I even belong to a health club that offers Pilates, but I don't think I can ever give this up. Reasonably priced, as well. Check it out! more

Amazing 'get your life back' Pilates 1/28/2009

""I would imagine I have become the most ardent ?one on one? Pilates fan in the universe. Linda Kohl (one of the instructors) managed to take away all my aches and pains (believe me when I say they were numerous and debilitating and demoralizing), - and replaced them with a feeling of strength, agility and a newfound sense of well-being and empowerment. Of course there are new aches but they actually feel great! Pros: Great Instructor, small classes, one on one instruction. Parking lot. more

One on One is a fantastic place to get into shape and strengthen your core! 1/28/2009

""I moved here from the east coast about four and a half years ago where I was first introduced to Pilates. I was anxious to continue taking classes but was leery of where to go. I discovered the One on One Studio in NW Portland and I couldn't be more satisfied, not only with the level of expertise in which the Pilates class is taught but with the level of individual attention I receive each class. I have certain limitations that are unique to my body and I find that without having to say a thing the instructor is making adjustments and checking in with me on the exercises to make sure my needs are met. My confidence in their knowledge of the Pilates method is supplemented by their vigilance about form and posture always mindful of protecting the neck and spine. I cannot recommend the Pilates program enough for strengthening the core and getting into shape; and I cannot imagine taking classes anywhere but at One on One.""\r - Jennifer L. Bloom (One well stretched and satisfied customer) Pros: Highly trained and fantastic trainers, 2 thumbs way up! Cons: None I can think of more

class size the best 1/27/2009

Getting to know your body is difficult while you are trying to exercise, but pilates helps you understand yourself. With the small classes at this studio, the individual attention helps the journey of exercise. The balance of mind and body is attainable. We all have fun with ourselves. The first class is free. Pros: spot on instruction more
