Entertaining! 8/6/2005

Nichi Bei Kei was a very new and exciting restaurant experience. The tables are set up around the stove where your chef cooks your food right in front of you! The chef we had when I went there was very entertaining. From creating flaming volcanoes out of onions to tossing bits of shrimp into my friends' mouths, he knew what he was doing. The food was delicious. Only problem was the price! more

Excellent hibachi style restaurant w/award winning sushi 8/5/2005

I was turned onto Nichi Bei Kai by a friend of mine and have been a loyal patron since then. The regal atmosphere of this restaurant sets is apart from many other Japanese restaurants I have been to in the past. The highly trained chefs prepare your food directly in front of you while performing an array of tricks (my personal favorite is the onion volcano). Their sushi has won numerous awards which does not come as a surprise. They cater to larger groups, and even have private areas for such customers. more

Incomparable Japanese Steakhouse 7/27/2005

Decor is authentic as is the sushi and the cooked-right-at-your-table meals. Fantastic steak, chicken and shrimp meals - you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The sushi is the freshest I've had around town and the miso soup and garden salad with a creamy ginger sauce are anything but garden variety. Top flight service and Japanese beer complete the dining experience. more

The best Japanese steakhouse 7/27/2005

Nichi Bei Kai has all the accoutrements of a standard Japanese steakhouse - sushi, chefs cooking food in front of you, communal tables. Somehow, though, it manages to rise above the competition. The food is consistently excellent, the chefs consummate professionals, and the atmosphere tranquil and conducive to good conversation. more
