A must-see museum 11/28/2005

If you have even a passing interest in aviation, then you must visit the Naval Aviation Museum when in the Pensacola area. The collection of restored planes is most impressive, and there are recreations of WWII life, plenty of actual jet cockpits for the kids to sit in and explore, a restaurant, a nice gift shop, and of course, the Blue Angels. Another absolute must is to make the early trek out to the airfield on a morning when the Angels are practicing their maneuvers; it's an experience you'll never forget. more

Cradle of Naval Aviation 11/16/2005

This is one of the few museums I can go to over and over and over and always find something new and interesting. This is a must see in Pensacola for anyone who loves planes. Kids love it too. You can actually get into some of the planes and look around. Cool! For me, the very best thing is being near veterans who usually know lots of inside information - you can always find someone like that here! PROS: you will want to spend hours here CONS: you may want to spend too many hours here more

TONS of stuff to look at! 11/14/2005

The Naval Aviation Museum is huge. There is a ton of things to look at. There are amazing planes. There are cockpits that you can sit in and get the real feel of what one would look and feel like. The staff there is very knowledgable and helpful. They have a lot of information that they are willing to share. more

see pieces of history! 11/13/2005

I can't say enough about this Military museum. This museum has more restored and unique aircraft displays than any other museum I have been through(Besides the USAF museum). I also like the guided tours that are available. If you are a aviation buff, you could easily spend more than one day here. Best of all it is free! PROS: HUGE amount of displays CONS: somewhat difficult to get to (inside Naval Air Station) more

Must See 11/7/2005

If you are in the Pensacola area this museum is a wonderful place to spend the whole day. Retired pilots are your tour guides or do it on your own. A trolley will take you out to the shops and you can see the planes being worked on. There is a replica of the Cubi Bar where you can enjoy a lunch and memorabilia that has been collected from the 1940's and WW2. This is the home base of the Blue Angels Team and they have open practice times that you are allowed to view. Plus it is free! more

First Class 11/7/2005

This is an amazing place to spend a day looking at restored planes with retired pilots who have flown these planes and know anything you can ask. The museum is free and it features a restuarant and an Imax theater more

Expensive, but worth it. 6/27/2005

I went to the National Museum of Naval Aviation onboard Pensacola NAS yesterday (6-26-05) for the first time in years. Wow! They have expanded. An IMAX, a flight simulation ride, a restaurant, plus many more specialty displays and indoor and outdoor static displays. There's lots of stuff for kids to do - even a hands-on Adventure area where kids can learn about and play around with lots of scientific principles mostly related to flight. There are also cockpits cut off lots off airplanes, jets, and helicopters that kids of all ages can 'fly' in. My niece and daughter 'flew' a Cobra together and loved it. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated as private funding is all they get to do the wonders they do. There's a phenomonal gift shop, but be prepared to shell out. Four kids' t-shirts set my mother back $40.00 even, as there's no tax on base. You can walk arond the outside static displays or a trolley makes a tour run every thirty minutes or so. Skip the Cubi Club more
