I was recently taken to Mood for my birthday dinner, in advance we made a reservation for 5. One of our party was a little late getting out of work so he wasn't there when the waitress took our order, but was on his way. Out of nowhere the gentleman behind the bar (who we later realized was the owner!) came over and said ""you guys are four now right"" and just took away one of our tables and pushed it over for another group of 5 (who obviously had not made a reservation). When we told him we still has someone coming, he said ""we'll just add a chair"". This is not a big restaurant, and there was NO room to add a chair, so when our last guest did arrive we were all squished around the table and it really put a damper on the rest of the evening. I guess that was our reward for trying to plan in advance! The waitress was really very nice and tried to be accommodating, but there wasn't anything she could do. It wasn't her fault it was bad management. I guess you shouldn't bother making a reservation here, it doesn't seem to matter. The food was alright, but a little overpriced for what it was. I honestly think this is one of the best hidden treasures in Queens. It's off of Lefferts Blvd on 83rd ave so it can be easily missed. No matter when I go (which is not often enough) it is always a great dining experience - great atmosphere, amazing food, excellent drinks! It's right near the movie theater, seconds away from the LIRR and minutes away from Forest Hills. It's perfect for a date or a larger get together. The staff are always very accommodating. My Husband and i have been frequent customers of mood.The space and the food are excellent, the food never fails to meet expectations.The restaurant space itself is well put together and inviting,however unfortunately we have noticed a change in service lately,we went in last night and our waitress dissappeard often,our water glasses remained empty for most of the meal, and she seemed very disinterested in her service and more interested in hanging out. it was definitely frustrating to say the least.Like i said we do eat there often and the food is enough for now to erase the bad taste the service gives.Just hope the issue with the service will be rectified soon. The 2nd review on this site is much more accuarate. I visited this restaurant 2 weeks ago for the first time. I always wanted to try it. The food was very good, however the wait staff certainly need an attitude adjustment. We waited for our main entree at least 30-35 min. When I asked the waitress what had happened, I received no response. She then did a complete turn around and paid no attention to us. She never asked how our meal was when it arrived nor if we wanted dessert. I must have asked for water 3 times before it was ever brought over. When all said and done,I then motioned to the owner who seems to tend bar. He came over to the table and I mentioned how unsatisfied I was about the service and that I've seen other reviews about his wait staff which were undesirable, however the food was excellent. He apologized and left it at that...without buying a drink nor anything for that matter. At the end of the day the result is that they lost a high paying customer and connoisseur of restaurants such as myself and my partner, and will never go back there again. Its not always about the food. Its the SERVICE also. Both go hand in hand. There are plenty of other restaurants in that area that look to please their customers. Mr. Mood himself needs to get over it..because its contagious to his staff. Stay away from this restaurant. Pros: Food Cons: Everything else makes it bad more

I have eaten at Mood a few times and I can't say I have had a bad experience. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu isn't large but the choices the chef gives you are a delight to choose from. The crowds in the evening can get quite boisterous so I recommend going before 7 pm. The decor is tastfully done. Mood can be very appropriate for a date as long as it is quite. If you don't want the hassle of driving into Manhattan, try Mood. I bet you won't be disappointed. Pros: Location. Atmosphere. I tried this place based on reviews and word-of-mouth! YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!! They treated my family and I like we had a desease.....I guess dropping almost $500 for sunday brunch was not enough to buy OKAY service much less a glass of tap water....which we waited for at least 20minutes for....I should have made a B line to the door but I decided...could it really be that bad..........YES! I ordered Steak and Eggs, medium. I got BLACK steak & Eggs..both of which were COLD!!!! That is not even the worst of it. My little cousin, who eats EVERYTHING, was grossed out by WAY overdone chicken fingers (I tasted it and it was so dried out that I wasn't totally convinced it was really a piece of chicken). My cousin, need less to say, didn't TOUCH let alone EAT the chicken fingers!!!!! Save your money and take a cab ride to the nearest, dirtiest, scankiest hotdog stand you can find......................I'll bet you anything, you'll get better food and better service than I got at MOOD. After being a frequent customer of this restaurant, my opinion has definately gone downhill. My biggest complaint is that the menu has not changed in over two years...not even seasonal changes. What New York restaurant (besides a Chinese take-out) doesn't change up the menu??? The owner is always sitting at the bar reading the paper or sitting outside smoking. He has never come over to our table to say hello or ask if we were enjoying our meal. The last two times I had to send my overcooked meat back to be prepared properly and even then he either wasn't informed or didn't care enough to bother to address the situation. I have been in the restaurant business over 20 years and I can tell you...if I had a restaurant this size (it's small) in this economy, I would be doing everything possible to keep the customers I already have. The staff has NO personality at all...really really dull people. We have decided to frequent London Lennies and a few other places that really show us that they appreciate our business. I mean, how many times can you have the same 6 dishes over and over again??? Boring and we are over it...too bad because the place has real potential.
