My husband & I frequent Mission. Wonderful food & service has always been good. It's a great place to relax after work, have dinner and wind down. Pros: Great taste sensations...

It was 4:00 pm and the sun was finally out in full force so ducking inside for Happy Hour at Mission was no easy task. Once you walk through the front door you are immediately ens...

great atmosphere, uneven food 11/1/2006

I like this place, but I just can't love it yet. Why? The food's a little uneven and they can't seem to match the portions and prices; some small plates are expensive and large ones are cheap. And it's not the ingredients. There needs to be more depth in the flavors too. However, the feeling of twilight in Latin America rocks, and the drinks are solid and fairly priced. A good meeting spot for friends. more

Consistanly great 8/23/2006

I love when one of my favorite restaurant/lounges starts off ""good"" and continues to ""great"". Mission's food and drink menus have gotten larger and better since they opened. My friends and I were in last Tuesday and the place was hoppin. The food was great and the server was fun. The food is definately not ""tex-mex"" like most of the surrounding mexican restaurants. It wasn't covered in cheese with 5 pounds of beans. Everything on the plate tasted fresh and was on the plate for a reason. I tried thier new margarita off thier drink list and it was awesome. The crowd got a little louder as the night progressed, but what can I say, it is also a bar. Pros: Great food, good for large groups Cons: little loud late night more

Cute place, food not that great. 8/13/2006

The wall behind the bar is cool. It's made of stacked slate, and is illuminated by the many candles. It's a cute trendy place; appetizers better than the entrees; dessert better than the appetizers; sangria tasty but not very strong. You can pass by this place without knowing it's even there but definitely worth at least one visit just to go - food is nothing to boast about. It's supposed to be one of the upcoming restaurants in seattle but I don't think it'll last if they don't work on the entrees. Average dish is less than $15. Pros: good street parking, cool ambiance, appetizers are yummy. Cons: entrees aren't that great. more

C+ is the grade I would give this Restaurant. 7/16/2006

I found the interior ambience soothing, cool, something you would find in Yaletown in Vancouver. The bartender was friendly and patient. I like to take my time perusing the menu. Nothing on the menu jumped out at me. The plantains / guacamole was good (no cilantro yeah!) and the chicken flautas were ok. The fish tacos were ok. Nothing appeared exceptional so I wonder what all the hoopla and rave reviews were all about? Pros: Cool on a hot day... Cons: Nothing extraordinary... more

Winter menu is better than summer 7/9/2006

Really like the ambience here. The blue wall is so soothing. Only issue is that I don't like the menu change in the summer. Great mojito's though. more

thumbs up! 2/28/2006

I held a friend's birthday party for 16 people on a Friday night. Our server was more than accomodating, the appetizers were delicious and drinks were tasty and quick. The ambiance was very trendy, perfect for a night out with friends Pros: service, food, large party friendly Cons: limited parking more

Pleasant Surprise 2/11/2006

Mission was recommended by a friend. I made reservations before reading the reviews, which left me with some doubts. Contrary to some of the reviews the service and attitude of the servers and the host were all exemplary. Food was good to very good. All in all, a good experience. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Parking more

Should have went to Jalisco 1/1/2006

After spending several minutes driving around the block trying to find a parking space(parking is terrible), we were quickly seated by the hostess. We ordered couple of Margaritas which were just OK. The food was very well prepared, but we enjoyed the chicken enchilandas(very tasty) much more than the tamales. A little spendy for the amount of food/drinks that we got. Afterwards, we thought we should have went to Jalisco instead. Cons: Parking, Expensive more

We have been here a few different times and each time service has been wonderful. Food is fantastic, can't understand other reviewers complaints but to each his own! I think this place rocks!! Manager is helpful, we had a birthday party there two months ago and everyone loved it. Great looking inside, unassuming outside (which I like) just what West Seattle needed! Pros: service, food, margaritas Cons: parking more

Terrible Service, Don't Bother 12/28/2005

We booked a birthday party there for 15 the week before christmas, but when we showed up the bar manager claimed we had canceled the reservation. Obviously, since we were standing there, we hadn't canceled but the bar manager just said ""Can't help, ya"" and began washing dishes. We stood around awkardly for a few minutes and no staff approached us to help us out or find space for us. Terrible customer service like that won't keep this place in business long. From the looks of the other reviews, neither will A1 sauce... Pros: A1 Sauce Cons: Bad service more

Evening Review = Just OK 12/8/2005

This is a small and snug location - it's easy to miss this spot. This environment lays out a candle-lit lounge (not restaurant) that sits fairly snugly to a fair size bar. The dim lighting does help relax, but everything else feels fairly standard and not cozy. There are a couple of flat screen TVs that sports fans cheer over. I love tapas, but my orders werent impressive. The Fish Ceviche had too much sour lime. The Tiger Shrimp were pretty timid. The Chayote Chile Relleno, however, is worth a try for chili lovers. The food experience was just OK at best. The happy hour margaritas are always a great idea, but my batch was significantly bitter. The service was friendly and attentive Nothing about this place really stands out, but its worth a peek if you walk by. Look for tapas elsewhere. Cons: Parking more

Loved it! 9/30/2005

I kept hearing people talking about how good this place was, but I hadnt been yet. I finally had a reason to go last week as my friend had reserved the upstairs bar for a private party. It was kind of hard to find, and pretty plain from the outside. But when got inside out of the rain, it opened up into a beautiful, sexy, cozy, candle lit space. Its much bigger than it seems from the outside. And having the bar on the mezzanine above the main floor reserved for our party felt extra swanky. The food I had was wonderful. Id never had a flautus (sp?) before. If you get a chance to eat one, dont hesitate. Therere dam good! One other thing I noticed was that the staff seemed like they were genuinely having a good time (which can be rare in this town). I loved it! Pros: Party rental, Food, Friendly Cons: Parking, Crowed more

My friends and I have been going to mission several times since it opened, but the service keeps getting worse with each visit. The ambience is fantastic, but the food leaves something else to say. I definitely have to mention that any Mexican restaurant you go to, they will never try to give you A1 sauce and pretend its mole sauce. It doesnt matter what u add to it, its still steak sauce (not that I have something against steak sauce, its not Mexican). Surprised after that experience we keep going for the bartenders Margaritas and Mojitos, which are the best in the area!! Hope they could pay more attention to their menu, specially knowing they come from El Camino. Pros: Consistency on drinks, Lounge area upstairs Cons: Some of the food more

Great the first time not so good the second 6/7/2005

I was so surprised! Two weeks ago I went into Mission, it was a quiet Tuesday evening, 6:00pm no loud music, no smoking, a few patrons but not jammed yet. The four of us had a wonderful meal, great conversation, a nice relaxing evening. Wandered in there last night(June 7) 7:20pm made reservations, yet the sign said seat yourself, no tables available downstairs, no one hosting, one waitress seemed perplexed that we told her we had a reservation. We were seated upstairs...way too much smoke, poor ventilation. The music was so loud we couldnt talk. The service so supurb before was inconsistant. The waitress although helpful was not connected with us. The food was good as usual we keep trying different main dishes. The next visit will decide if we come back or not, or if we recommend Mission to all our foody friends. Sorry folks Pros: food, decor, wait staff Cons: smoke, noise, music more

This is what West Seattle was missing..... 6/2/2005

We've lived in West Seattle about a year-and-a-half and could just never find a cool, fun, hip bar that we enjoyed frequenting. We heard great things about Mission so we went to check it out for happy hour drinks and apps. Let me say - this was the bar we had been so desperately seeking to find in our neighborhood! Yahoo! Loved the drinks, the food, the service, the decor and the ambiance. The house margaritas were excellent as was the app we tried. And, glancing over the dinner menu - I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. All entrees between about $9-$12 - those prices seem to be hard to find for a tasty dinner. Finally, a fabulous bar for West Seattle. I know Mission is going to begin seeing a lot of us - and our friends!!! Pros: Very Hip, Good Prices, Warm Fun Ambiance Cons: None! more

Great Place! 5/19/2005

I have been to Mission countless times since the opening and have not been disappointed yet! I've went with a big group for a celebreation, for a romatic dinner with my husband, and an early more causual dinner with my husband and our 8 month old boy. The staff were friendly and helpful every single time and I have never been let down by the food (or drinks!). All around, you can't go wrong by visiting Mission! more

The house Margaritas were AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!! 4/26/2005

This is a great place. First time there. The house margaritas weren't watered down as all you could taste was tequila. They were great. The wait staff was very friendly and allowed enough to be able to look at the entire menu before coming back. The only thing we would have liked is more fish in the fish tacos for the price. Would also like to have chips and salsa. Pros: Great Ambience, Flavorful food, Friendly Staff Cons: No side dishes , more appetizers more

Good Times 4/25/2005

Ive been here a few times now and everything i have eaten has been great! So far I've had Fish tacos, Flautas, Tamales all were very well presented and fresh. I like the ambieance of the place a lot. A great place for drinks and some food. Definetly worth a trip! You wont be dissapointed. more

Stunning 4/24/2005

Sounds like betsyac has a personal vendetta? While Mission may have some kinks to work out, I found this West Seattle hotspot to be visually stunning and their Margaritas to be excellent. My wife had the cornflake encrusted halibut and it was truly unique and delicious. Mission is a worthy destination spot. Pros: cool atmosphere, tasty drinks, attractive crowd Cons: limited parking, crowded wknds more
