MacNair's is a lovely place to learn to ride 11/22/2009

I grew up taking lessons and summer camp at MacNair's and I loved every minute of it . The staff is so knowledgeable and they take excellent care of their horses (which many facilities with far fewer horses cannot seem to do!) Now, as an adult I still swing by to shop in the tack store and visit the horses I used to ride. I have even purchased a horse from their lesson program this past summer and he has been a wonderful addition to my family. The only drawback I can think of is that the cost can be prohibitive. But, if you want the best English instruction in town this is it. Pros: Summer Camp Program Cons: Price more

MacNairs everything you are looking for in a place to ride! 6/24/2009

Mac Nairs County Acres is an excellent place to ride and has everything you could hope for in a riding facility. Here are my top 5 favorite things about Mac Nairs 1. The horses are extremely well cared for and there is a wide range of school horses to learn on. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider they can fit a horse to your needs 2. The instructors have incredible experience and training. They maintain that balance between keeping you safe and challenging you to the next level. 3. Friendly and inviting staff that makes you feel welcome. There is a great sense of community at Mac Nairs. 4. Convenient location and top notch facilities. 5. Variety of programs. Mac Nairs is a large facility that offers boarding, leasing, lessons, programs for children, a tack shop and more. Whatever you need for your riding you can find at McNairs. I would highly recommend Mac Nairs to anyone from the beginner looking to try out riding to the avid competitor looking for the right instructor to take them to the next level. Pros: World Class Instructors, Beautiful Facilities more

Fabulous Summer Camp 6/22/2009

My daughter just finished her first week of summer camp at MacNairs. She received superb instruction and they seem to have found the right balance between saddle time, ground lessons and keeping my daughter interested and involved. Pros: Great Instruction more

Equestrian Paradise Nestled Amidst a Thriving Metropolitan Area 2/19/2009

I am a Raleigh native and took riding lessons at MacNair's in the 1970s and loved it ... so I brought my daughter and son for lessons when they were old enough (age 6). They've been riding ever since (4 years and counting). Facility is great, instructors are extremely well trained, fun and effective and kids learn all kinds of personal responsibility in addition to safety oriented impeccable hunter jumper riding technique. Many students at MacNair's have gone on to qualify for and win national competitions in the sports of dressage, eventing and hunter jumper showing at all levels of shows, from local 4H club shows to C, A and AA rated USEF rated shows and everything in between. 3 kids went to national Pony Finals just last year in 2008! We love it so much now I'm riding too. Large group of barn moms now ride too and really enjoy the fanstastic workout it provides. It's simply the best dressage/hunter/jumper barn anywhere around Raleigh and one of the top barns in the Southeast. Terrific location right in town on an island of 270 pristine acres of green. A jewel right under our noses! Pros: Very convenient location, state of the art facilities, highly trained instructors Cons: It's an expensive sport, but so worth it! more

Great facility for children of all ages to learn to ride!! 1/29/2009

MacNairs Country Acres is a great facility for anyone wanting to learn to ride. The facility is well kept and the staff is very skilled in teaching riders of all ability levels. The horses are very patient with even the most beginner riders yet challenge riders of more advanced abilities. The curriculum they have begun implementing shows their commitment to the rider as whole. The curriculum shows their planning in advancing riders through their program emerging as a well trained and knowledgeable rider. It is a great experience as a parent to watch my daughters develop as a confident horsewoman, schooled in riding as well as horsemanship knowledge and not just as rider. Our whole experience at MacNairs has been wonderful. I would confidently recommend this program to anyone, child or adult wanting to begin a lifetime love of riding. Pros: service, knowledge level of staff, great equine partners more
