Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma 8/10/2005

I am a season ticket holder at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. They have their plays in the summer, and they about 4 each year. They have a good variety of plays each year, such as one family suited play, one love story, etc. It is pretty inside the theatre. The sound is great, and from almost every seat you have a wonderful view of the stage. They have a concession stand and a little coffee shop. I have enjoyed about every play I've been to there. Tickets are rather expensive though, and only people who have donated a lot to the theatre can get front row tickets. But overall, I would definitely recommend Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. more

  • About Lyric Lyric Theatre was founded in 1963 by twelve prominent Oklahomans who wanted to bring the art form of musical theatre to Oklahoma. They established the first Board of Directors and produced three shows that first summer. Ticket prices were $1.50 for orchestra seats and $1.00 for all others. The main geographical area the founders originally targeted was the Oklahoma City area but they planned eventually to bring in audiences from many cities across the state. That vision has been accomplished. As of today, Lyric Theatre and its newly-named Thelma Gaylord Academy, has season subscribers from 112 towns in Oklahoma and serves close to 53, 000 patrons annually. Lyric's arts outreach program recently traveled to 76 Oklahoma schools, serving more than 30, 000 school children statewide.. Show at both Lyric at the Plaza,1725 NW 16th Street, and the Civic Center Music Hall,201 N. Walker, depending on the time of the year. Both season and single tickets are available. The Lyric Thelma Gaylord Academy offers acting and dance classes as well as voice lessons for both children and adults.
