I discovered Gene through a friend and haven't had anyone else touch my tresses since. I came to him with raggedy, neglected hair and he fixed me up better than i expected, thank goodness (i've dealt with my share of mediocre stylists). That was... about 3 years ago more or less.. and I've been a loyal client since. I have recommended him relentlessly to my friends and family and I will do the same for you, stranger. Gene is so amazing!!! I trust him with my locks COMPLETELY. I don't ever have to worry about what my hair will like when he's done with me, and I don't really give him many details of what I'm looking for. When he asks me ""What are we doing this time?"" My reply is always, ""Hmm... I don't know? My hair is your hair."" And when I walk out of there, it's always with a huge smile on my face! I love him! I would recommend Gene to anyone and everyone! I've been going to Gene for about 5 yrs my Gray or as he puts it "" my mature"" hair can be a challenge it's gotten more stubborn with the years. I work outside so the sun plays into it. I have been going to Gene for about four years. Before I found him, I bounced from one ""stylist"" to the next with little luck. I trust Gene completely. He knows what is in style, but more importantly, he knows what style will fit you. For as much as Gene talks and entertains you as you get your service, he also listens. He wants to know your likes and dislikes, and what you thought of your last cut or color. He also takes the time to find out more about your lifestyle. He tailors your cut to compliment your lifestyle. I am always rushing around in the morning and don't have a lot of time to style my hair. Gene knows this, and makes sure that any look he styles will still look good on me after I get home. He also doesn't push expensive products on people. I don't hesitate to refer anyone to Gene. The problem is...it'll look like you used a PennySaver coupon to get your haircut by a stylist who just graduated beauty school last week. Even though it's a great price, you usually get what you pay for...the good news is it'll grow back...eventually. more

It is impossible to fully capture my haircut experiences with Gene. I've had good haircuts before, but after one haircut with Gene I would never go anywhere else. He's been cutting my hair for months now and everytime I walk out of his salon, I am 100% satisfied with my haircut. I moved back to San Diego 4 1/2 years ago and needed to find a hair stylist. With no reccomendation, I chose a hair salon near to where I was living. I was told that Gene was the best colorist and so I made an appointment. He is the best!!!!! He corrected my overbleached dried out hair to a beautiful golden blonde. I get complements on my hair all of the time. Gene is extremely talented in both cut and color and is current and up to date. I'm soooo glad I booked an appointment for cut and highlights after meeting Gene at the Bridal Bazaar in San Diego. If I never met him, I'd still be going to my overpriced, mediocre hairstylist at the mall. Now, every time I enter the salon, I give Gene my complete trust in him as he picks out a hair color and style for me. In addition, Gene not only educates me with his color/cut expertise, he also makes every salon experience worthwhile as he shares many interesting stories. Therefore, not only is Gene talented, he is also fun to be with. That is why I would always refer all of my family and friends to him every chance I get. My 16 year old son is a pain when it comes to his hair cuts. I've taken him to many stylists who end up butchering his hair. I'm sure it doesn't help the fact that my son's hair is long, thick and somewhat wavy...very similar to mine. Gene has been cutting both of our hair for the last few years and we won't go to anyone else. The best part of Gene's cuts is that even if I'm due for a haircut, 5 weeks after my last cut, people still ask me if I just got my hair done. There is never an awkward growing out phase. I was referred to Gene by a friend and I'm eternally grateful because he's the most amazing hair dresser I've ever been to and I've been to A LOT of them! I went to Gene with a disaster of a haircut, one that had me in tears for 3 days!!! Not only did he fix my hair, but he turned it into a hair style that made me feel beautiful and confident. He uses products that make my hair feel soft and silky and my highlights don't fade!! Ever!!! He can do anything you want and he'll even offer advice or ideas if you ask him to. When you describe what you want, he gets what you're saying and that's so hard to find these days. You seriously need to check this guy out! He's worth every penny! I won't trust my hair with anyone else ever again. He's very talented and he's a good person. I love this guy!!
