After my first visit to the Lny Salon and Wig Boutique, it was easy for me to see why Lawrence has so many returning customers. He is very professional while maintaining a great atmosphere. I will be adding myself to the list of returning customers. Lawrence does amazing work and has a salon worth being very proud of. I went in to LNY today to pick up a custom hairpiece. I have a condition that I have had from birth and is very rare. It can be embarrassing to visit many salons. I feel totally at ease with Lawrence and in very capable hands. He made my hairpiece exactly the way I wanted and it is prettier than I even thought it would be. He cut my hair to blend perfectly and upon arriving home, my DIL wanted to know where I gone for my haircut because she wanted to go there next time. I received many compliments and I am more than pleased with every aspect of my experience with LNY. Turn-around time to make the custom piece was great, Lawrence's personality is kind and pleasant and he seemed to ""know"" exactly what I was needing in a custom piece and he delivered perfectly ! more

Hello my name is Lawrence Yates owner of the LNY Salon and wig boutique and I must take a moment to address this last reviewers concerns/\r \r Ms. Southernbelle A. First I would like to apologies that your experiences here have been less that expected her. That being said, I produce over 120 custom wigs each year and unfortunately there is the occasional one with an issue. I am not perfect, however I am one that does all he can to please and resolve any situations that arise. \r \r When you came to me a few months ago and asked for a “Custom” wig. I informed you since it is a ‘Custom” piece it must be paid for in advance. The reason being a “Custom” piece is a special order ‘Custom” made to the cranial size of the wearer as well as to all other of her specifications.\r \r As for the time involved and “chasing me around”. The piece was completed initially in 6 weeks. Four to six weeks is customary for a “Custom” piece. Now the additional time you are obviously upset about came into play because between the time of ordering and the time you came in to pick the wig up, your own hair color had been changed. You asked me to recolor the wig to better match your new hair color witch I agreed to do free of charge even though it was not the initial color ordered. Then after I did that you came in with a picture from a magazine and asked me to change it again adding highlights, witch I again did free of charge.\r \r Now as for the shedding, the wig was ordered with triple density and hand tied. Rough handling causes shedding. The last time you brought the wig in it was easy to see it had been mishandled. Even when I asked you what happened to it. You replied I got frustrated styling it and quit... I mention this because I remember our initial conversation quite clearly. Then after looking at you with you full head of healthy hair I was puzzled. I asked why do you wand a custom piece. You told me because you watch Wendy Williams’s everyday and she loves her wigs so you thought it would be fun to have your own. Then when I explained to you the types of wigs she wears and the costs, upkeep and learning curve involved. I also informed you that a quality wig requires just as much if not even more care than your own hair does. You expressed you really just wanted something to play with but was going to order it anyway. \r Southernbelle A It appears to me that you are probably still frustrated that the wig requires special care and like the hair on your own hair requires attention. The wig you dreamed up and ordered from me after watching Wendy Williams on TV (who by the way has her own full time wig stylist) is not as easy, fun and convenient in real life as you thought it would be. You came to me as a woman who wanted a nice wig, I gave you that. I believe our real problem is that you wanted it for fun and the escape of doing your own hair. However since the wig is not a necessity for you, your not as inclined as someone who truly needs one to care for it, style it, and treat a nice piece such as mine better than she would her own hair. In hindsight perhaps you would be better off with a stock type synthetic unit. If that is the case please feel free to contact me and I will provide one for you.\r Thank You\r L.N.Y. more

You guys, please proceed with caution before entering this man's place of business. I wanted my experience to be as ""peachy"" as some of you all describe...I really did. However, the service I received was less than mediocre and Lawrence's work came off as very amateur. I consider myself to be a very fair person; optimistic and pleasant. However, Lawrence's attitude can very quickly cause someone to come ""out of character"". After paying for my wig upfront (something I have never done before, but wanted to trust Lawrence' work), I chased this man around for months to get MY product. Needless to say, he acted like I was bothering HIM, when all I wanted was my wig. At any rate, once I finally received my finished wig, I was totally dissatisfied. Within the first few weeks, so much hair has shed on my wig, leaving me to wonder whether I will even have ""a wig"" in the next 3 months....I will not be returning to LNY Salon and Wig Boutique. I wish you all much success in your attempt to get great service, however this is not my story (unfortunately). The good thing about Atlanta is that there are a plethora of stylists per mile radius. The reviews I've seen on a few posts are a bit misleading.... On one post, he rates 2.2 out of 4 and on this one, he rates great. Definitely some inconsistencies. Good luck with your experiences. I have been a loyal customer of LNY salon for over 7yrs now and have never had a hair style I didn't LOVE!!! My stylist Lawerence, is knowledgable, patient and very professional. I have had several hair transformations due to my trust in him and his ability in giving me the look that works best for me.I have sent several of my friends and family members to him and they all agree that he leaves your hair looking and feeling healthy. \r Lawrence is the best stylist I have ever been to and trust him with my hair !!!! more

I have been a client of LNY Salon for nearly 4 years now. I have never felt so welcomed by a stylist before. He has an infectious personality that you can't help but feel comfortable and happy with yourself. I continually get great compliments on my hair and I have become very close friends with Lawrence. I moved from Atlanta to Nashville, TN about 6 months ago and I still make the trip to Lawrence for my cut, color and styling needs. There is none better, anywhere. more

Hi there! My husband and I surprised this shop owner with an unscheduled visit with over 30 minutes worth of questions about helping my mom in Stage 3 cancer obtain an appropriate wig. He was SO knowledgeable and helpful! His prices are very affordable, and we could not have ""dropped in"" on a better salon and owner. We left VERY happy with two complete wig set ups for Mom. I took my mom here yesterday to get a wig due to chemo. The owner Lawrence was so helpful and compassionate. He helped my mom try on several different wigs, adjusting them to fit properly and encouraging my mom in a whole new way. The selection of wigs is pretty large so it took a while to find just the right one. When she made her final decision, Lawrence did some additional cutting on the wig to make it look just like her pre chemo hair. The price was great and the service was excellent. We are very pleased. more

I was recommended to Lawrence by a friend. However after my recent experience neither of us will be returning to LNY salon. The haircut itself was okay, and on that alone I may have returned as a customer. But he made very inappropriate comments throughout the entire haircut. Every time I tried to change the subject of the conversation to something more neutral, he brought it back to a very creepy level. I am a happily married woman and needless to say this made me quite uncomfortable. He may say that he was joking, or he didn?t mean it that way, or it was taken out of context. But I can assure you he was well aware of what he was saying and there is no excuse for that sort of unprofessional behavior. more

I went to this salon before 2 months after glancing at all the 5 star reviews. Lawrence might give a good haircut..., though not a great one... Ever since I had the haircut at this salon my scalp itches like crazy. I've got tiny red bumps on my scalp. He does not clean or sterilize any of the scissors/combs before using it on your head. He would say ""Itz all clean"" if you ask about the cleanliness of the tools used. My scalp had been the best till i stepped in his salon. And the cost for haircut isn't cheap either. I?ve never been the girl that other girls looked at and said, ?I wish I had her hair.? As an actress and model, I would hear the sighs of frustration, as the hairstylists would try to get my fine, thin hair to look good for camera. I had no idea how much meeting you would change everything. I have had extensions before, but none to compare with the superior quality that you use. During the process of applying them, I was excited to watch my thin lifeless hair evolve into lustrous, thick locks. The perfect cut finished it off, and you sent me out into the world a changed woman! I love my hair! The confidence it has given me shows in my photos.
