Editorial review from Citysearch 7/5/2013

I used these Vet's for my dog who is no longer alive. They were great despite the trrible receptionst who goes out of her way to be rude. However I recently adopted a cat from the Humane society and took her for her first check up. I see that horrible receptionist is still around, and the vet I saw was not that great. I am able to forgive the Vet everyone has a bad day and maybe that is what it is. I am not sure I will be back, though. It is almost like punishing yourself to make an appointment and know you will be interacting with that terrible lady. I am sure I can find quality care in a friendlier environment. I mean I would even go for a receptionist that says ""hi"" that would be enough for me to change facilities. more

Best of everything! 9/7/2011

I have been taking my pets to Missy for over 20 yrs. My first cat and dog both lived to be 18 yrs. old, that is a good long time. I now have 2 dogs and 2 cats and wouldn't take them anywhere else. I have never had a problem yet and don't think that I will, but if I do I talk directly to Missy. Love everyone there! more

BEST VETS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/20/2011

I had two cats that lived until 20 and 25 becuase of the care that Layton Animal Hospital gave them - I now have new kittens (6 mos old) and they are loved and cared for by the vets and staff as if they were their own - they are hands down the most caring vets and staff that I have ever experienced. Melissa is AWESOME and Dr. John loves my kittens so much that he actually HUGS them when we walk in for shots - again, hands down - most caring people I have ever worked with. more

MY BOY BOSCO 12/21/2010

AWFUL!! I Moved temporarily to Wiisconsin with my two beautiful Labs.. My chocolate Lab named bosco was ill with diebetes, epilepsy and blinded by diebetes. He was nine years old. I am moving to hawaii as my husband is a Doctor an OB/GYN Medical doctor in Honalulu. I knew it ws time to put Bosco to rest as he was so ill. I made the appointment with LAH as I was reffered by my neice. ( BIG MISTAKE ) Dr. John Cheslak was the attending physician. He came into the examaning room, Never acknowleges my beautiful boy by name name,Dr. his name was BOSCO!!!!! you never examined him but charged me 35.00. You never even put him on the examaning table to die with dignity, but left him on the floor and when you euthanised him he screamed in pain and looked like he was being electricuted. My Husband and I were in shock as we have put dogs down before and NEVER NEVER experienced so much trama as we did that day. How can you call yourself a vet, You have no passion. I am married to a Doctor, I k more

If you want your pet to die when take them home, come here!! 10/5/2010

I saw great reviews and got good price quotes, so I decided to switch vets and so I called a day ahead to set up an appointment to bring in my older cat because he seemed to have a sinus infection and to get my puppy some shots. The two pets have different last names because I had one for 16 years and one was shared with my boyfriend, so we used his last name for her, which is what I told the vet when I made the appointment. I got there for my 11AM appointment the next day about 10 minutes early since they closed at 12PM. It took about 20 minutes to check in, but I didn't mind because it was our very first visit at that animal hospital and also the receptionist was very nice. She did mention that there was only one animal scheduled for that appointment and I told her about the different last names and she said, "oh, that must be it". I figured that it wasn't a big deal then.\r Once we got checked in, we went in back. The female vet came in, didn't bother to say much to us at all, just s more

Years of wonderful service! 10/1/2010

My parents have used this vet for YEARS! And now that my new husband and I have a puppy of our own we are taking him there as well. They are great. Love Dr.John! Haven't had the female vet though, so can't comment on that. They are so helpful. When our puppy got neutered there wasn't a cone at the pet stores that was big enough for him so they let us borrow a large one from them...no charge! They also matched the online price we found for Heartguard, which we thought was amazing. The only this is when we leave after an appointment we don't know when our puppy should come back. I have now found out that they will send out reminders in the mail which is so nice! But it would have been nice to have the front desk staff tell us that or what/when our new puppy would need to come back next. more

Wonderful Doctors and techs 9/9/2010

We had to put our cat down. I was a wreck they treated her so kind and stayed with her when I couldn't. I don't think you could ask for a better place to take your animals they really care.\r \r I must say the girls behind the front desk we very nice. I was treated well and they were busy ... more

AWESOME!!!! 9/9/2010

Melissa the receptionist provided quality customer service...With a smile. Both receptionists were great! more

Nothing wrong with LAH! 8/6/2010

We have used LAH throughout the years... left for a very brief hiatus, and returned very quickly. Cannot complain about the cost, as they do not nickel and dime you like other places. Dr. Mark and Dr. John are definitely top-notch (not very big on Dr. Missy but she is competent). The other staff are good (you'll always have one or two people that are lacking anywhere you go). They take excellent care of their patients and make sure that you are fully educated on your pets particular needs. more

Great experiences always 6/18/2010

I went to a vet nearby- cost lots of money for a problem with my dog. Had an 18 year old cat that was peeing in my house- took her in to see the vet and they wanted to put her on expensive anxiety meds and would not put her down( I was hoping it was a UTI)\r I put my cat down & took my dog to Missy- we started him on a very a very inexpensive allergy med- no further issues with this. \r Since then I have a new cat & same old dog and wouldn't go anywhere else.\r They are awesome with the animals. They are also great with owners to make decisions in both their interests. more

My puppy's first check up. 5/14/2010

I researched everything I could about the Layton Animal Hospital and I was nervous about what I have read about the customer service. I thought everything was fine. Normal. friendly. everyone seemed happy to see my puppy. I liked the fact that the staff was calling me mama. And I do think of my puppy as a baby. In all I was very pleased. I got lots of information and coupons. I live half an hour from this place but its worth the drive. Also I couldn't find my drivers license for the check I wrote and they let me slide. Thought that was very nice. more

Best Vet I have had 10/23/2009

I have been taking my dog here for three years, and so far I have been very pleased. I have used three different vets in the past, and this one has been the best so far. The veterinarians are very good with my dog and have correctly diagnosed her with various ailments. I have not experienced any of the bad service written in other reviews. Like I said, I have used other vets but had poor experiences with them overcharging/misdiagnosing my animals. This is the one veterinarian that I feel cares about my pet rather than making a buck. Pros: knowledgeable staff, easy to work with, affordable Cons: none found yet more

I am in Love and so is my Dog! 7/9/2009

All I can say about this vet is I love them. I have been taking my animals there since I was a child. I will never ever go anywhere else. The office staff are always helpful and very courteous. The prices are reasonable, again the vets know what they are talking about and they are caring and wonderful. more

Fine vets, questionable staff 4/9/2009

I frequent this office for routine care, as it's near my home. The rates are a little high, but so is the convenience factor. There is one receptionist who seems to set a negative tone for the front office, which is too bad. But one sour apple does not a whole bushel make. I do not use these folks for emergency care, but rather than Animal Emergency Center, whom LAH recommends for after-hour emergencies. Now that place is exceptional, superb, sublime, in every way. Pros: Competent veterinary care Cons: Some staff are indifferent at best more

GREAT CARE AT A FAIR PRICE 1/2/2009

I have been going to Layton for 20 years now with 3 differnet cats. we had to have one of them put to sleep & they were very caring & kind. The house call sevice is a great plus. I deal mostly with Missy more than the other vets there, but when I have had to deal with the others they were equally caring.I would recommend them to any one who hs a pet. more

crappy vet services 10/30/2008

had been with this clinic for years and just having the female vet was a big mistake Cons: parking , and misgiving of meds...... more

Best practice out there 9/25/2008

My pets have gone to Layton Animal Hospital since I've had them and the entire staff is very caring, knowledgeable, and helpful. Best vet I've ever gone to and is the only one I trust to care for my pets. Pros: Everything and everyone Cons: None! more

Good Vets. Poor Office Staff. 4/30/2008

My family's 15-year-old dog has been visiting Layton Animal Hospital since puppyhood. Pros: Vets Cons: Friendliness of Office Staff, Organization, Layout of Facility, Parking/Access to Parking more

Layton Animal Hospital 3/26/2008

Layton Animal Hospital has exceptional people, quality and efficiency are a daily routine for these vets. Work well in emergencies, also have exceptional knowledge when it comes to dog and cats. On top of that it is very clean and in order. I would recommend this veterinary clinic to all. Pros: Works with people in emergencies Cons: Location more

If you love your pets do NOT take them here!! 3/10/2008

Absolutely the WORST vet Ive ever been to. They MISdiagnosed my cats pigment changes in their eyes as natural and "nothing to worry about" but upon visiting another vet I found out it was cancer. Both of my cats now have to have their right eyes removed and Im lucky that they arent dead! Pros: NONE! Cons: EVERYTHING! more
