Editorial review from Citysearch 1/17/2013

We take our cat, Carl, and our Min Pin, Sadie, to see Dr. Onishi exclusively. He is very knowledgeable and attentive with our friends and, somehow, or animals seem to like being there. This clinic is also affordable. Yesterday our Min Pin was feeling ill and we had no idea what was wrong with her, so we took her to see Dr. Onishi. He spent about 30 minutes thoroughly examining her and solved the problem, only charging us a fraction of the price that other vets had charged us in the past. I would definitely recommend Dr. Onishi! more

Dr. Onishi is the most thorough Vet 1/21/2011

We’ve taken our pets (Multiple dogs & cats) here for over 12 years but we’ve had pets for over 30 years. He has had special breed knowledge on Great Danes and 4lb Poms that has helped us. Past Vets we used would hurry, try to sell us expensive treatments or play on emotions. Not Dr. Onishi. He will completely explain 2-3 varied treatments options, cover the pros & cons of each with the success rates & possible negatives and let you choose an option that fits. He always has a “Plan B” and explains that before you start on “Plan A” so you’re never surprised. I’ve never had a Vet do so much research to be sure our pets are getting the correct treatment. While he is very current on all the new treatments and specialty Vets, many times he will suggest a less expensive treatment from an old school perspective that works great. After tougher treatments he’ll call you at home/cell to check up on the pet, sometimes after 8:00PM at night and weekends. We tell friends and co-workers about Dr. Onishi & his excellent caring staff and only trust them with our own pets. more

Wonderful & Caring Place :) 8/19/2010

West Slope Veterinary Hospital is Awesome! Our 10 year old cat recently became gravely ill. They did a great job figuring out what was wrong with her, without breaking the bank. When she had to be put down, the staff & Dr. Onishi was remarkably kind, gave us plenty of time with her and made a horrible experience much more tolerable. He is great! \r We now have a new kitty - adopted from the Humane Society- and we will continue to use Dr. Onishi to care for her, as well. Great Staff & Great Dr. :) Highly Recommended! more

Caring Vet with exceptional staff! 12/8/2007

I brought my kitten, Franny, to Dr. Onishi for her first visit to the Vet since I adopted her from the Humane Society a week ago. The staff was very welcoming, and I could tell that they genuinely love and respect the pets that they treat. Dr. Onishi was incredibly thorough. He and his Vet Tech kept Franny very calm during her check up. The facility is humble compared to some other hospitals I checked out, but please don't let that deter you from giving them your business. A great Vet, much like a great primary care physician, is hard to come by. more

Very gentle and genuienly cares! 9/28/2007

Dr. Onishi is very caring and highly knowledgeble. He doesn't rush to go onto the next client, he takes care to ask lots of questions to determine an accurate diagnosis. He really cares about the pet's health and well being and the staff is great. Don't be fooled by the look of their little office on Canyon road. They know their stuff and are honest, not trying to sell you meds your pet doesn't need or other unessary expenses. They also offer happy visits when business is slow for you to bring your pet just to get treats so that he or she won't be so frightened when the next visit comes around! more

Great Vet 7/12/2006

Dr. Onishi is the best vet. He takes time to explain and he loves animals. But he is best at taking care of the owners! more
