Jerm is a gem! 3/18/2012

I went with my daughter (who just turned 18) to get her 1st tattoo at the Laughing Buddha. Everyone who works there was extremely friendly, supportive and easy-going. She picked the Laughing Buddha because my niece and one of her friends had good experiences there. When my daughter called to make the consultation appointment, she explained to the woman who answered the phone, the design she wanted to create, and was told Jerm was the artist for the job. We met him for the consult and he and my daughter worked together on the design. He asked a lot of questions and they looked at pictures on the web together to narrow down the idea. The next day we came for the actual tatoo. Jerm had made some sketches with different styles of the idea my daughter had given him. They finalized what looked very pretty (but couldn't express how lovely the final product would turn out!) and the tattooing began. Perhaps we were referred to Jerm because of his patience through what turned out to be a long process on a very intricate and multicolored masterpiece. This was my daughter's first tatoo and we had little idea what to expect. The first half hour went by easily but then it became increasingly painful. Jerm never faltered and never lost his cool. He was calm and professional throughout and the end product is amazingly beautiful! I realized afterward that he had undercharged my daughter by almost half, given how long it actually took. And the final product looks perfect, even though my daughter had a very hard time staying still and quiet by the end! Jerm is professional and very talented. I highly recommend him and the Laughing Buddha! more

I highly recommend 1/27/2011

Despite a little trepidation after reading some of the negative reviews, I wandered down to LB with my hubby. Not only were we treated exceptionally well (and I'm about as far from looking like I fit in there as you can get!), my tattoo artist, John C. was amazing! He took the idea I had, gave me more ideas, refined it, and managed to do a phenomenal job! The guys at the counter were all really nice, and even the piercer was fantastic (I bought a new stud and needed it changed out). Quick and efficient, and fantastic:) I highly recommend them and will be going back for our next tats! more

Thanks 1/25/2011

I love you Thomas Wade! Really... I do. Thanks for covering up all of my bad experiences at other shops and creating new tatts that I love oh so much! more

Laughing Buddha 1/21/2011

I got my nose pierced there two years ago and I just got a tattoo done there a couple of weeks ago as well. I love Laughing Buddha!! They know their stuff and they're very knowledgeable and helpful. I got my tattoo done by Thomas and he did an amazing job! I recommend Laughing Buddha to everyone! more

I will continue to go to Laughing Buddha 1/19/2011

I have been going to Nina for over 5 years. She fixed a horrible tattoo that no other artist would touch. I have since had multiple fairly large pieces by her and I am extremely happy with the art work. artist and environment. I recently had my lip pierced by Ruben. It was a wonderful experience. I was very scared of what it would feel like and he did a great job at helping me feel comfortable. I will continue to go to Laughing Buddha Tattoo for all my piercing and tattoo needs. more

Laughing Buddha is my favorite 1/10/2011

I've had 4 piercings and 1 tattoo and by far Laughing Buddha is my favorite. They are clean, professional, and friendly. What I like most is how you are taken across the hall (for piercings) and watch as the piercer cleans everything from the jewelry, to the chair, to anything else needed. I've never had an infection and truly think it's because of their dedication to make everything sooooo sanitized. I also appreciate their variety of jewelry. more

Thanks Laughing Buddha! 1/4/2011

I had a great experience here last summer when I was getting my very first tattoo. I found everyone I encountered there to be extremely professional. It was also spotlessly clean, which is really important when someone is going to be sticking needles in you. Expensive yes, but worth every dollar. I am constantly getting compliments on it and I always am quick to let people know where I got it done. Thanks Laughing Buddha! more

VERY impressed. 12/29/2010

This review is for their jewelry selection. They have almost everything or can get it in. i was VERY impressed. The girl that worked at the front desk was knowledgeable and welcoming. I had about a million questions, and she happily answered each one. My little brother got his ears pierced here and he was also happy. *Please be aware that this is exactly how CLEAN a piercing shop should be!!! Do not hang out let alone get pierced/tattooed at those dirty, hole in the wall, discount piercing shops. I will be back to pick up some much needed jewelry and they also were more than happy to order me whatever I need. more

shop itself is clean 12/27/2010

I was pierced by Ruben.... he was AWESOME. Made me feel extremely comfortable, even though I was a bit nervous (been a while since I had gotten anything pierced). Yeah, it hurt, but he was super fast and they are healing nicely. The shop itself is clean, bright, and has lots of awesome jewelry. The front desk guy and girl were super nice as well! Definitely coming back and recommending them to all my friends. :) more

if you want high quality, go here 12/23/2010

I've been here for absolutely spectacular tattoos and piercings, and their brilliance has ruined me for other parlors. I would highly recommend Ruben for piercings-- of the sixteen I've had done, his work was far the best. He was very relaxing and mellow while still being engaged with me, which is rad and new. As far as tats go, for detail work I've never had better work than what I've gotten done here. Basically: if you want high quality, go here more

I'm not five. 7/27/2007

I decided on a whim one day to get my first piercing and went alone. The guy who pierced me was such a condescending asshole. I wanted to punch him, but I don't consider it wise to fuck with somebody who's about to shove a needle through your face. I'm hard of hearing and they had music on so I had trouble hearing what the guy was saying to me. I told him this and he proceeded to speak to me really, really slowly in the most condescending tone possible and call me "sweetie." I'm not five. I'm sorry that "partially deaf" equals "retarded" to you, sir. On top of all that, when he was pulling the needle out of my lip and putting in the jewelry, he stabbed me in the chin with the needle. On the plus side, they were clean, checked ID, and getting the piercing itself didn't hurt. more

Laughing Buddha - yay! 7/19/2007

I got my nose pierced by Jawn back in February and it was a great experience. The staff there were very friendly and patient with me while I decided what I wanted and helped me figure out what would be the best jewelry. Jawn was very professional and made the process pleasant. I've also been tattooed several times by Will Bodnar, who's a tattoo artist there. He was very easy to work with and made sure what he did was exactly what I wanted - great custom work. I would recommend checking out his portfolio if you are shopping around for a new tattoo artist. more

I'm not laughing and you're not a Buddhist 6/6/2006

I found the Laughing Buddha to be exactly the opposite of what its name implies. I will tell everyone I know not to go there. I've been pierced 3 times before coming here (in the midwest) so I have some creds. If I had never been pierced before, this place would have scared me away from it forever. Seriously people who work there need to get a fricken clue on how to treat paying customers! more

A very smart choice 5/17/2006

A few years ago I had a dream to get a tattoo. I found that the artists at "Laughing Buddha" very easy to work with and understanding. The process felt like it took a little longer than I was expecting, but the end result was beautiful.Four years later and people still comment that it looks only a few months old. Thank you Laughing Buddha, thank you. more

Crocodile Tears 4/23/2006

On a whim (a very calculated whim, though), I decided to go get my nose pierced. I didn't tell anyone, I just went. It was my first experience with paying for pain, only I had no idea it would hurt. So I went in, cash in hand, and sat down. The man who pierced my nose asked if I was scared, to which I replied surprisingly, 'Should I be?' He said never mind, counted to three and punched a large needle through my nose. Tears involuntarily came out of my eyes which had never happened before. He told me they were crocodile tears. Huh, I thought. And since then I have adored my nose ring and the story about it. I didn't feel square (even though I was) and my nose healed perfectly (thanks to clear instructions). I'll never do it again because it hurt, but that's my own fault. more

Get stuck and drawn. 8/21/2005

Michelle Hamilton (of salon fame) started this place with the attitude that the best artists and cleanest game in town shouldn't be hard to find. She put the place in a conspicuous spot, and recruited some great talent to run the ink needles and piercing chairs. Whether you're a newbie to the body art scene, or have the Book of Kells inked on your torso, these guys are a fantastic place to get it done. more
