First/Last Experience With Lacis 6/9/2008

I came into Lacis for some notions, some interfacing, and perhaps some heirloom fabric. It had been recommended to me by the embroidery store in Alameda where I sometimes shop.\r \r I'm a young male who wears a basketball jersey.\r \r Because of this, the (I'm assuming) manager LITERALLY told an employee to 'just stay in the room and keep an eye on him' RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I had been talking to the manager, asking highly informed questions, and obviously was NOT some bored delinquent.\r \r I spend a LOT of money at places like this\r I will NEVER return. I'd rather buy lo quality Jo-Ann fabric than see that fake smile again.\r \r Perhaps you are not of a visual type to be marginalized by people such as her, but I'd suggest spending money elsewhere.\r \r \r ALSO: their scissors selection is terrible. you'd think a place that big would have applique scissors. they also carry virtually nothing for machine sewing. they have some very good prices on certain items. the museum part looked interesting but no way i'm standing under surveillance. the store is VERY VERY large. interfacing selection was not very good. their book section is great, but not particularly useful (it lends itself more to the museum than to actual garment construction).\r \r Seriously tho, Stone Mountain's Daughter in Berkeley on Shattuck gets my $. There is good discount supply in the Mission in SF. The Jo-Ann in Emeryville is about as bad as a Jo-Ann gets. more
