No more Heavy Periods! 9/17/2006

I suffered with messy periods for years. It was embarrassing. I was afraid I’d have to have a hysterectomy like my mother. I saw my regular gynecologist and she told me we could try birth control pills, but if they didn’t work then a hysterectomy would be necessary. I’m 37 and I didn’t want to take hormones day after day for the next 10 years until menopause. So I confided in a good friend I remembered had heavy periods too. She recommended I see Dr. Scott Kramer in Fremont for a second opinion. He did a procedure on her called Microwave Endometrial Ablation in his office over 2 years ago and she hasn’t had a period since! She told me it only took a few minutes and she was back to work the next day. She said she had a few cramps, but no big deal. It didn’t effect her hormones and it was covered by her medical insurance too. I was a little reluctant to see a male gynecologist, but Dr. Kramer was more compassionate than any women doctor I’d ever met. He took more time too, explaining why I had heavy periods and giving me different treatment options. If anything, he steered me away from hysterectomy. I was so relieved. He did an ultrasound of my uterus and checked my blood count (I was a little low on iron). Just like my friend, a few weeks later I did a Microwave Endometrial Ablation. That was about 4 months ago and I just have to share my story. Too many women don’t know about this treatment for getting rid of heavy periods. Best of all I did it in his office at Women’s Health Specialists, avoiding the anxiety and expense of trip to an operating room. It was easier than getting a tooth filled at a dentist. I got rid of my periods and kept my uterus. I traveled over 30 miles to Dr. Kramer’s office and it was worth it! more

Terrific guy! 8/12/2005

Okay, I'll admit that I'm one of those women who generaly wants a female OB/Gyn, but Dr. Kramer is really a terrific doctor. He has a fun, easy manner and doesn't make women feel embarrassed that they are discussing intimate things with a man. When I delivered my second child he was the on-call doctor from my medical practice and he made me feel comfortable and eased my stress at going into labor in the middle of the night. He made everything seem quick and easy while chatting with my husband to help him feel more at home in the delivery room. Dr. KRamer also performed my son's circumcision and he was both quick and solicitous of my son's physical comfort and my emotional comfort (since I was a witness to the operation). I strongly recommend Dr. Kramer, even if you normally prefer female OBs. more
