Phenomenal selection of Japanese books, and most likely the best anywhere outside Japan. This is a huge bookstore with books on everything, all in Japanese. They have a children's section with publications all in hiragana and limited amounts of kanji. They have cooking books, novels, nonfiction. They have every kind of Japanese magazine you could want, especially women's fashion and lifestyle magazines, and a large selection of letter sets and other office supplies, though of course these are characteristically cute and typically Japanese. For manga freaks, this place seriously has everything. I can try for ages and ages to find something online, then when I finally get to Kinokuniya, there it is, all 5 million volumes with like 5 copies of each, waiting for me. They also have some English-translated manga and American anime magazines for sale, as well as a moderate selections of J-pop CDs Since the nearby Asahiya closed, Kinokuniya remains the one behemoth Japanese bookstore in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles.
