Sarah is amazing!!!! I've been to several salons in Austin and she is by far the best! She's the Best Hair Colorist and Stylists! Not only is she amazing at her with color and cut she's a great person! We spend the entire time chatting and laughing make the whole experience that much more enjoyable! She?s the bomb diggity! Love Love Love her! more

Sarah is a wonderful 1/15/2009

I've been searching for a permanent stylist since moving to Ausitn a few years ago. Finally I've found Sarah and I can't imagine going to anyone else. She's wonderfully talented and has great ideas. I'd recommend her to anyone. THANKS SARAH!!! more

NYC Salons could learn from this one! 1/8/2009

This is truly a fabulous establishment with a ton of heart and and skill to match! John MacDonald is one of the most enjoyable people I have ever met. Even better, he is amazingly skilled at both haircuts AND coloring. I moved to Austin from NYC and was super impressed by John and his salon. John could pop up to NYC to teach those salons a thing or two about quality, comfort, and heart! Pros: Talented people, great location, fabulous extras, beautiful yet comfortable salon Cons: some say price, but I think you get what you pay for more

kristin is a hair genius! i love the fact that she is a perfectionist. she will make sure your hair is perfect every time. she listens when you have an idea and if, for some reason , that idea doesn't fit your face or need, she will sit with you and help you figure out what will help you look amazing. i send everyone i know to her. she does it all! i now live 1500 miles away from austin and can tell you that she is worth the plane ride. she is the ONLY person i will ever let put scissors and color to my head. and remember, she is not only a hair genius she is a genuinely wonderful, unpretentious, kind, individual!! Steve Stanford is the best stylist in Austin, if not in the country. I've moved around and was really thrilled when a friend introduced me to Steve. He identifies the natural attributes of your hair then develops a cut and color to complement them. He not only has technique, but he also has a vision and as a result I have gotten so many compliments on my hair! I have been going to him for 5 years now and will never leave! My sister is a very good friend of John's. In 2005 I flew from Vermont to Austin for her wedding. That's when I first met the ever famous John I have been hearing about for over a year at the time. He is wonderful. He reminded me of Edward Scissor Hands. I had hair flying everywhere. He gave me three different highlight colors, and as he was washing my hair I recieved a head massage. I was sooo pleased with the outcome. I'll tell you, it may be expensive, or for me it is, but if I lived in the area I would work a second job if needed to go see him. He is the only sylist I ever trusted with my hair, as far as trying something new. I HIGHLY recommend him. more

THE HAIR GOD OF AUSTIN 10/24/2008

After looking for a hairstylist for 3 years I finally found John in 2003 and I am so glad I did....he is the most wonderful stylist I have ever ever had. He did the the hair of myself and all my wedding party in June 2005 and did the most transforming haircut on my best friend that she cried....it was awesome. Not only did he make me feel and look beautiful on my special day he did so with my whole wedding party. I have yet to go to his new place but I can only imagine that if as wonderful as he is. After moving more then 2 hours away and seeing a different hair stylist I will be back in John's chair as he is the ONLY one who knows how to make my color look amazing and make myself look and feel amazing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE........ Pros: EVERYTHING!!! more

Kim gives me the best haircut ever and always has a smile. I am a guy so I hate getting haircuts, but I have been going to kim for over 2 years now on the advice of someone else and thought I should spread the word too. After many years of bad luck, I finally found the best! I have been going to Kim B. for over two years now and have never been anything but wowed! She does outstanding color and I always love my cut! She provides great consultations when I am thinking about a change and always achieves the look I'm after! Kim is very knowledgeable and has tons of experience! My mom, step-father and my husband all go to her as well. Not to mention, everyone I have referred has done nothing but rave! I actually followed Kim to John Girard from another salon and couldn't be happier. Everyone from the front desk to the owner goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service and they are all super accommodating. Hands down, this salon truly is an urban retreat! I would highly recommend Kim and John Girard Salon to anyone looking for the BEST! Pros: Everything Cons: Not a one! more

Steve is the best! 7/10/2008

I started seeing Steve Stanford at Bella about 7 years ago and have now followed him to this salon. I can't say enough wonderful things about Steve - the compliments I get on my hair color say it all! He took me from bleached blond to a natural looking red and I've never looked back! And the new salon is very inviting and warm with lots of natural light and a great, relaxed space. I highly, highly recommend both the salon (all of the stylists are great) and of course, Steve. After moving from Europe to Austin, one of the big obstacles for me, was to find a good and trendy hairstylist. After trying few places I was rather disappointed and then somebody recommended Kimberly B. to me. When I see her, she not only takes into consideration my physical appearance but also my personality and my busy mom-of-3-girls lifestyle. The results are GREAT!!! Fabulous Cut and Color - Thank You Steve Stanford!!! 5/29/2008

I have recently been looking high and low for a new stylist in Austin. After months of searching, I finally took the recommendation of a friend and made an appointment with Steve at John Girard Salon. Best decission I have made in a LONG time. The hair cut was the best one in years and the color is incredible! Steve is awesome - so much so that I made a follow up appointment immediately - which is something I never do! I can't wait to go back - it is a welcome escape. The salon is relaxing and inviting. The entire team is extremely funny and they all make you feel very welcome. I could go on and on. In short, do yourself a favor and make an appt. with Steve - you won't regret the decission! Many many thanks Steve - see you in a couple of weeks!!!! more

Outstanding cut and natural-looking color!! 5/28/2008

I get so many compliments on my hair cut! Steve Stanford is fabulous at finding the right style for your hair. For years, I had ""average"" haircuts, but Steve found the WOW in my hair. And Steve is very talented at choosing the right color, so it looks looks like my own natural color (of a few years ago). He also massages your scalp during the shampoo - what a treat. more

I have been coming to John since 2000 when my daughter was in school in Austin. I live in Houston and was looking for a new haircut and color. She suggested I go see John while I was in town. I have been with him ever since and am so glad he has his own place to call home!!! He is one of the most innovative and creative stylists as well as a great colorist!! He listens to what you want and then tries to give you his own refined version and look, that is best for you. The salon is fabulous and John decorated and designed it himself!! He is a wonderful friend as well as hairdresser. I highly recommend him, as long as I can still get my appointment!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Everything! more

Won't go Anywhere Else! 5/20/2008

I followed two of my stylists to this Salon, and I am so happy they moved here! This new salon is just fabulous! Small, intimate, chic setting--- so comfortable and inviting. LOVE every single person that works there. Kim B. is hands down the most incredibly talented hair colorist in this town, and Kristin has always given me fabulous hair cuts. My husband gets his hair cut with Steve, and has never been happier (finally) with his hair. I recommend this salon without a doubt to anyone looking for 'the place'. I won't be going anywhere else. Great haircut, pleasant environment 5/19/2008

I just want to send out a compliment to John, owner of this wonderful new salon. I?ve been living in Austin for 16 years since moving here from NYC and I?ve finally found someone who can cut men's hair. My wife knows how frustrated I was with some of the hairstylists in Austin (I?ve probably tried 20+ stylists) and she recommended around a year ago that I see John. I know how particular she is about her hair and she was very happy with how he did her hair coloring. Her recommendation was right on. There never seems to be a problem w/ parking and the salon is very comfortable (not loud and crazy). We are very happy for John and wish him and his staff success. John Girard Salon is fantastic! It is a modern salon with a casual feel. You can walk in feeling out dated and leave feeling like you are the sexiest thing on the street. The service you receive is personal from start to finish. John is amazing and has really created a salon that fits everyone. I highly recommend this salon to everyone. more
