I am frequent diner at Ambar in Clifton and Baba India in Oakley. I was very happy to see an Indian Restaurant opening closer to my home in Mt Lookout. They are located in the Hyde Park Plaza near Play it Again Sports which makes it easy to park. Highlights: great samosas, good naan, and outstanding chicken tikka masala and korma. I would say their sauces are superior to Baba, and very close to Ambar. They are heavy on the ghee (clarified butter) which gives them an extra rich flavor. While the dining room appears to be very nice, they often have their children sitting at a table looking very morose. It kind of makes me sad that they sit there all day doing nothing. Therefore, i prefer this place as a take-out option, although i see alot of people dining in. Often have coupons sitting out. They have one for $8 off a $50 purchase (as well as smaller coupons) which is totally sweet.
Overall very good. Patronize them so we can keep this place that we need in the Hyde Park area.
Recommended for excellent take out
Pros: Excellent food, reasonable prices, quick on take out orders, good coupons
Cons: Owner's/worker's children sitting at a table in the restaurant makes it a little sad.
