We've seen a total of 15 or so comedians at Hyena's in the last six months, and not one of them has really bombed. That's amazing considering that not one of them has been a "name."
It's worth it to get to Hyena's a little early and buy the preferred seating. You get to get into the club earlier than everyone else and get a seat closer to the stage. You also get your food before everybody else. The food is basic bar food. Admission price is not too steep, however they do make up for it by overcharging on the food and drinks. There is a two item minimum for each person in your party. It doesn't take too long to get what you order and the wait staff is good about checking back with you to make sure you have everything you need.
If you're in preferred seating you're so close to the comics that you can see the flop sweat, which is great if you don't mind being the occasional target.
The club is not old and nothing much to look at. The waiting area fills quickly and there aren't that many places to sit so you can end up standing for half and hour or forty-five minutes before you're allowed in. You can reserve preferred seating on their website or call ahead to make sure that you'll get in.
