Rude 11/25/2009

The lack of customer service was surprising for a Hyatt. It will be the last time I stay at one. Our rep at Guest Services was a flaming, condescending ahole....Roberto. There are tons of places to stay in Chicago, I will definitely NOT be staying at the Hyatt in any city or country for that matter. more

Awful Hotel 2/25/2009

For the past 7-8 years, I have checked into this hotel every February to attend the Chicago Auto Show event. And for the past 7-8 years my experience has gotten progressively worse. The only reason I continued to make my reservations at this hotel (notice that this is now past tense) was that the auto show is held in the convention center directly connected to the hotel building. The following is a list of the issues I encountered during my most recent stay: Pros: None Cons: Too many to list more

The following is a list of the issues I encountered during my most recent stay: - Stains on the bed sheets (nasty) - Walls had scuffs all over - Paid for a soda in the vending machine on my floor, and nothing came out. Called the front desk 3 times for a replacement to be brought to our room, and it never was - I called the central reservation processing center to make my reservation, and was quoted a total for the stay. Upon returning home from my visit, my bank statement revealed that the amount deducted from my account is materially over the amount promised. I?m still in the process of getting this resolved - The staff members (in general) were rude and lazy Rather than giving this hotel my business again, I?ll eat the cost of a cab ride from another hotel to the convention center. For the exorbitant amount you pay to stay here, the service/experience is seriously lacking. Pros: None Cons: Too many to list more

Not bad for a convention center hotel 11/26/2008

Not bad for a convention center hotel. When I reserved online, I asked for a fridge which is $25 extra per stay however when I arrived they said they were placing me on the 4th or 5th floor which have fridges for no charge. Bonus! Pros: nice rest/bar, comfy beds, friendly staff Cons: located downtown - not a nice area, gift shop dull, more

When I reserved online, I asked for a fridge which is $25 extra per stay however when I arrived they said they were placing me on the 4th or 5th floor which have fridges for no charge. Bonus! The pizza in the bar is really good - not Chicago style but VERY tasty. Gift shop isnt much to write home about, souvenir shop elsewhere. Bellhops and concierge staff are very attentive and helpful. Hotel flights listed in lobby and complimentary itinerary print outs are a bonus. Beds very comfy with plenty of pillows. Bathrooms nice and clean - if you get a corner room your bathroom and room is much bigger (try rooms #'s 302, 402, 502 etc). Nice city views from upper floors. The hotel is not in a nice area, but the cabs come right to the door so you don?t have to worry too much about it. Not many restaurants nearby, but that is typical for convention center?s. White Castle, McDonalds and a few non-chain sit downs are within walking distance if you get directions. Stay here ? it?s not that bad! Pros: nice rest/bar, comfy beds, friendly staff Cons: located downtown - not a nice area, gift shop dull, more

Wrong Turn to this hotel, run down the road, Bad Choice 5/30/2008

We stayed here last week, The place is dirty, the staff could care-less, when you get to the front desk, just look behind the counter, dirty floor, baseboards are coming apart. this will match the the wear and tear in the rooms . Pros: No WIFI in the Room, NO internet Lots of X on the TV Cons: 9.95 for WIFI in the Lobby Only more

Nasty Hotel 5/18/2008

Bad choice, run for your life, this is a over-rated Hotel, the help is rude, the common areas are dirty, and they charge everything to your card that you never order, $37.00 to park and when you need your car you will wait till the second coming of Christ to get your ride Nasty Place Pros: You can go somewhere else in the future Cons: Read my write up more

The lamest Hyatt, and I like Hyatt. 4/23/2008

This Hyatt was definitely not a four star hotel. It was really, barely a three star. The gym was nice but the pool tiny! I've been to better pools at cheapy Motels. There was also no hot tub, even the wood in the women's sauna was defaced by carved graphiti. The decor is a little less than awesome, but the bed was comfortable.. 24 bucks to park there overnight! I suppose this is normal in the city but they should reflect the extra cost on the website. They also charge for connecting to the internet- but they don't even have wireless!! Furthermore, although the hotel was quite empty, they gave us a room with a terrible view. Pros: Ipod holder. Cons: Pool sadly lacking, and they charge you for anything they can. more

True, its great fun to stay in the city but if you don't care that much about being directly in Chicago- go the Hyatt in Lisle. Much nicer and you don't have to pay for parking. Pros: Ipod holder. What A Nightmare! 4/12/2008

We were unfortunate enough to be staying at this "2" star hotel this last week. There was a conference on at the convention center next door and all the convention goers came to the hotel to get taxis home. We missed our dinner reservation due to a 50 minute wait for a cab. The convention goers took over the hotel bars and made the environment very unpleasant. When we asked about getting a car service we were told it would be $78. Needless to say, we missed our reservation and dinner with our friends. The hotel manager's answer to our concerns was "this happens every time there is a conference". Upon check-out they tried to charge us for three continental breakfasts that were included in the price of the room. The breakfast consisted of bitter coffee and stale pastries -- i found it to be inedible. Anyway, after a stand off they agreed the breakfasts were included in the room rate. The service provided here is not worthy of a Hyatt and I would strongly advise against staying here. A total nightmare!! Pros: None Cons: Too many to mention more

Best Bartenders and Cocktail Servers in the City 9/12/2007

If you haven't been to the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place recently, your missing out. They redesigned the hotel and Bar. Wow! comes to mind. It has an updated modern version in the lobby with chocolate being the color and the new Shore restaurant and the Mix Lounge with there new asian-modern style look is awesome. The Shore has your traditional Chicago favorite dishes, steak, seafood, pasta, great service and a great wine list for the wine enthusiast. The Mix Lounge has followed the trend with small plates as their signature(Tapas), rare tuna, rare beef, bruschetta, cheese flights. The service is always consistent and superb, friendly, professional and personal. I think the bartenders are exceptional when it come to making drinks and conversation along with the different personalities they have. This is definetly an over looked place I think because of it's location, but get down there and meet the people from the MIx Lounge. more

Nice hotel/great value 3/12/2006

Clean, tastefully decorated. The shuttle is free and goes downtown, museum campus, millineum park, and more. It offers only a one way service. You must sign up at the desk and it does not run until 11:00AM. (at least during the week - could leave earlier on the week-end) The shuttle driver was very helpful with answering questions about what bus line to take back, ect. A cab ride from Water Tower Place cost 3 of us only $10.00. During my first stay, I had a room with a beautiful view of the lake. However my second stay I had a view of a back of building. If you are into having a view, I would suggest that you request this. My kids had a nice time in the pool. Most downtown hotels don't even offer this amenity. Valet parking is $29.00 per night with in and out privledges. Pros: inexpensive, clean, nice decor more

I stayed here during a conference at the McCormick place and was really impressed with the service. The hotel was fully booked but still their service was great. I got a great deal on the room and was happy to stay in a clean place that was so conveniently located to McCormick. They even had free shuttles going to various parts of the city! more

Good for conventions 4/15/2005

Stayed here in January and the place was empty that week because there were no conventions. The rooms were very dry so it was not the best sleep I have had. Hotel restaurant had decent food, but horrible service. The location is pretty remote and there isn't much within walking distance, but cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. Nice views. more
