Dr.Smith is a great doctor! 6/4/2011

My cat was born with a genetic kidney disease. About two weeks ago, I took him to my regular vet because he was throwing up. The vet said it was probably stomach upset, gave us a week's worth of antibiotics for GI problems and sent us on our way. Two Friday nights later, I came home from work to find a lethargic, feverish cat that would not eat or drink. I called my vet on Saturday morning, but that said they were booked solid and could not see my severally ill cat. I called Dr. Smith's office and Ashley said she was booked as well, but they would squeeze us in. Dr. Smith immediately recognized that my poor cat was in pain. She did an x-ray to make sure it wasn't something serious and gave my cat sub-Q fluid in the office so that he would not get dehydrated. She also started him on a two-week course of antibiotics because it turned out he had a kidney infection. I found the entire staff there very professional and I can tell that they all really love cats. All vets over book, but Dr. Smith took the time to find the root of my cat's symptoms, instead of under-diagnosing like the first busy vet had done. And she managed to fit my emergency issue around her busy schedule on Saturday. If you have a cat with a chronic condition like my beloved pet, you can't do better than Dr. Smith. She is caring and knowledgeable, and will go out of her way to provide the best care for your cat. No more all-purpose vets for me! more

Loyal Customer for 10 Years 2/9/2011

I've been taking my cats to Dr. Smith for ten years now and that's one of the reasons they are in excellent health. The staff is trained and professional and the clinic itself is better equipped than most. I feel I've developed a good relationship with the folks there; they know me and my cats. Rarely have I encountered serious delays - by the way, every vet in town triages animals, as they have to. Recommended - Dave Richards. more

The best place for your kitty 2/11/2010

My experience has always been exceptionally pleasant. HCH people are consciencious about everything from cat handling, to board and feed, to medical diagnosis and treatment. Detailed instructions are given to owners to follow for the care of cat at home. If you're unsure about personal handling of med treatment at home,a tech can be contacted for out patient car at home. HCH is the BEST! Pros: Professional and knowledgeable about cats Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Very good care for your cat 4/8/2009

I have been bringing my cat to Dr. Smith for a few years now. She is very comforting when there is a problem, and is very knowledgeable. I brought my cat in for an operation which I was nervous about. She put me at ease and I felt much better by the time I left. I get the impression that everyone in there (Especially Dr. Smith) cares about your pet and its well being. It is also nice that she specializes in cats.\r \r Sometimes there is a delay, but that is more than likely due to emergencies that come up. She did call me one time and asked if I could delay my appt. by one hour because she had so many emergencies that morning. Since I was just in there for an appointment I didn't mind, pets with emergencies should come first. Pros: location, very nice staff more

Wonderful clinic! 1/28/2009

I definitely recommend anyone with cats go to Houston Cat Hospital. Staff is friendly, and Dr. Smith is fantastic with cats. Not often do you find a vet that actually cares about your pet so much! I looked at the boarding facilities and every cat was in a clean area, with litter pan. I will never take my cats anywhere else! Pros: Clean, quiet, great doctor, great staff Cons: too far from home more

Not satisfied 11/25/2008

I wanted my cat to be comfortable so I decided to take him to an exclusive cat hospital for an annual exam. My experience there was a disappointment. As I walked into the clinic there was an awful smell that gave me a headache for about two hours. As I waited in the waiting room there was a technician that was taking clients back and it seemed to me that she was seeing appointments like a doctor. The receptionist (who seemed to be friendly) took me into a room and the doctor and technician came in about 10 minutes later. I was not pleased about the way they were handling my cat. The Dr. just seemed to be too rough with him and he is not a bad cat. I asked to see the boarding facility and it was filthy and some of the cages didn't have litter in the litter pans and the ones that did have litter in them were very dirty! I was not pleased when I left there and would not recommend them to friends or family.\r \r more
