Allen Christian creates intriguing sculptures out of found objects. He almost never pays for his materials. A number of his works feature retired bowling balls, hence the name "House of Balls".
Allen's gallery in the warehouse district is a must see, but is only open limited hours. I've had the best luck between 12 and 4 on Saturday afternoons.
The gallery is full of Allen's work and well-chosen music. For examples of his sculptures, visit his website at www.houseofballs.com.
Follow the stairs at the back of the gallery and you will enter Allen's workspace. If he's there, be prepared for a conversation. The sculptor is insightful and generous with his time, but red-stater's beware.
