Service was excellent! I don't often rate items as 5 stars, thinking there is always room for improvement, but in this case Herman Movers gets them all. I have used Herman Mover...

Worst

The most unprofessional moving company I have ever experienced.\r \r Keith Herman was called by my wife and came out to the house and gave us a quote for $650 dollar to move the home.\r \r The day of the move came and there were 4 movers who immediately seemed overwhelmed by the move (how do I know? Because they never stopped complaining). My wife and I both said to each other, ""aren't these guys movers. Don't you think they have seen a house packed up before?"" \r \r They spent the first hour sitting in the U-haul that was rented for the job (which was too small for the move) calling friends and asking them to come and help. All the while I moved a large amount of the house myself. (I was always under the impression that you shouldn't have to move anything if you hire a moving company.) (I also had to make 3 trips in the preceding days with a truck I borrowed because they refused to move anymore stuff from the house.) \r \r Soon after noon a fifth mover arrives at the house wearing a baggy sweater (keep in mind it was 90º that day). His name was Eban Brown. He immediately went to our 3rd floor and came down without any boxes. When he came back into the house he was not wearing the sweater anymore, and our laptop was missing. \r \r Later that day after they left I use Find my iPhone tracking app and located the laptop in the 1st ward of Buffalo. I called the police and reported the laptop stolen. Eban Brown was later questioned by the Police and had a change of conscience. My wife and I both witnessed him returning the laptop (that no longer worked) to our driveway the day after the police spoke to him. \r \r From here on out I will let my legal team handle the rest of my dealing with Herman Movers.\r \r PROS\r • 4 of the 5 movers were very nice guys and not criminals. \r • They were kind enough to let me move boxes to help them. \r • They were affordable: Quoted $650. Charged $850 + $160 tip and the cost of a $2,000 laptop \r \r CONS (no pun intended) \r • I had the chance to to work on my penmanship, since my laptop was stolen and then returned broken. \r • On a serious note, I would suggest you highly reconsider hiring Herman Movers. Even if they are the low quote. more

So I chose this company because they said they were insured, said they would wrap my new appliances, and they beat competitors prices, but soon I found out I got exactly what I paid for! After being almost an hour late three kids hop out of a box truck high as a kite! I looked at the driver and obviously the main clown, and I said you guys stink of pot... They all just kinda smiled like it was some joke! They didn't protect any of my appliances, they were swaring at each other trying to move items down the stairs, and now have fresh dents in my brand new stainless steel fridge, scratches on my new front load washer, and scratches all over wood furniture! The one guy brought my brand new fridge to the door and seen it wouldn't fit and asked me if he could push it threw and scratch it!!! I told the idiot I would take the molding off the door! After I was all unpacked I called and spoke with a women (apparently the owners wife) told her of my terrible experience and my damaged furniture and she basically told me to go screw myself and that her husband was in the hospital and putting it all back on me! Lesson learned!!! I'll be moving into my first home soon and I will be hiring another company! And also if anyone knows any legal action I can pursue please let me know! Thank you more

We hired Herman movers recently. During the move, one of the men asked to use our bathroom and stayed in there a very long time -- so long, in fact, that the other mover came inside and asked what was going on. After the movers left, I discovered that while he was in the bathroom, the guy went through our medicine cabinet and drank our NyQuil, leaving the bottle and medicine cup covered in sticky liquid. On further inspection, I found that he had also stolen all our SudaFed tablets -- the kind drug dealers use to manufacture meth. I went through the cabinet and threw out everything he might have touched.\r \r Once I discovered the theft, everything made sense. During the move, when he and the other guy took some furniture upstairs, he had asked if there was another bathroom up there. Now I know why he was interested! Later, he also kept saying that he had to go back upstairs to fix something they had already moved into place. I told him we would take care of it. Clearly he wanted to go back upstairs alone to see if he could find any more prescription or over-the-counter meds. \r \r I was very angry when I discovered the theft. I feel doubly betrayed because I gave both the movers a substantial tip, not knowing at the time what he had done. I called the company to report the theft and spoke with a woman whose last name is Herman, so I assume she's a family member. Her response was essentially, ""Oh.""\r \r So if you hire these movers, be sure to lock up all your medications and all your valuables, and stay with the moving team every second to keep an eye on them. Better yet, hire a different company. more

No Problems Here 4/12/2012

Service was excellent! I don't often rate items as 5 stars, thinking there is always room for improvement, but in this case Herman Movers gets them all. I have used Herman Movers for 4 moves over the years and don’t see any reason to stray. The team was professional and prompt. They did not complain about the large heavy items and even worked out a solution to taking my extra tall bookshelves up to my second floor living area. I would highly recommend your using Herman Movers. more

Same bad experience as below 12/5/2011

We must have had the same group of movers they send to the home of ""Msouth."" The one fellow was so intoxicated that he went to use the 1st floor bathroom that had no door on it (as we had removed it from the hinges to ease in moving furniture in a narrow hallway). He asked us to ""look away"" until I screamed for him to go upstairs. Additionally our furniture was just thrown into our new house (our leather sofa was actually left face down), our bed was left unassembled with the mattress in place which cause the bed to fall when we went to sleep that night (bending the frame). They left garbage on our front lawn too. I have left a msg with the owner....very annoyed! more

Unprofessional Movers 11/25/2011

This company was recommended to me by a friend I used them due to her advise and I'm sorry I did. I had three men who arrived at my storage unit only one was friendly the other two were just down right moved. Since they were being paid by the hour they moved very slow if it werent for my boyfriend and I moving stuff out of the unit ourselves we would still be there. They failed to use furniture pads to cover my furniture and complained when they lifted something that it was too heavy. They then broke my front door which the owner did come and fix I complained and he did nothing. Beer cans in the back of truck one worker smelling like alchohol and totally overpriced. Worthless company who should of made it right. Also complained to the BBB and they never replied. Any reputable company would of defended themselves against the complaint. Would not recommend this moving company! more

Don't believe Dinki, I'm glad I hired them! 1/10/2011

My daughter's associate at work recommended Herman movers as they had just moved into their new home in early Dec. I called them for an estimate and a very friendly gentleman came who was the owner's son. He explained their prices and we felt very comfortable with him. Then I read the two articles by Dinki, my son had moved cross country and had all his furniture ruined and dishes and crystal crushed, the movers he had gave him the run around and wouldn't pay for the dammage. Was this going to happen to me if I went with Herman? Absolutely not, I called and talked to the owner, and he assured me that everything would be covered and taken care of. I am so glad I called and gave them the chance. \r On moving day they showed up with two large trucks and three very professional gentlemen, everything was taken out carefully and wrapped. When we arrived to our new house, they placed each piece where we wanted it and even put the mirrors back on the dressers. It turned out that a couple days later we were missing a desk drawer, I called the owner, he told me he would check the trucks and call me back, which he did the next day, and his son delivered it with their apologies for missing it on the truck. \r I absolutely would hire them again if I need someone to move anything for me, you won't be sorry if you hire them. more

Horrible Experience 10/18/2010

We chose Herman movers due to their Better Business Bureau rating, and they were insured and bonded. This has turned out to be our worst moving experience ever. The movers consisted of a group of unexperienced amateurs, who spent the day complaining about the heat. They also constantly said our furniture was too heavy! At one point they stood in the driveway banging away at our piano. Nothing was wrapped, nothing was covered, nothing was secured on the truck. Every piece of our furniture has been damaged. We were downsizing, so much of the furniture was placed in the basement before moving to another home. We have found that a number of these pieces were broken by the movers and placed in the basement so the damage would not be seen. The owner agreed to have some of the pieces fixed, but then acted as if we had destroyed our own furniture! He would not even come here to look at the damages. He argued with us and his wife used foul language towards us. Stay away from these people. Their Better Business rating is unreliable. Be forewarned! more

Careless Movers 10/12/2010

Very disappointing service! Not sure what kind of proper training if any, these employees received. Certainly don't respect your personal belongings. If you hire this mover, I would make sure you had either a family member or friend available to keep an eye on how these movers handle your furniture! They damaged quite a few pieces of my furniture, did not properly protect many pieces. Besides gouges in the wood, torn upholstery, and broken furniture legs, I was then told there wasn't much the owner would do.The owner became confrontational when told of the damages and basically said there was nothing he could do with paying for any repairs. And then he tried to say that what I was telling him was a lie, that ""these damages could not have been done to my belongings by his movers!"" This after he himself walked through my house and looked at my furniture! So much for being license and bonded, I thought this is the reason why movers are insured, in case of some damage to a person's belongings. He needs to take a closer look at his employees besides himself. He has no concept of customer service! I certainly would not recommend this company to anyone. Heaven forbid your furniture is damaged, you would be out of luck with this one! Maybe that is why some consider this company reasonable...you basically get what you pay for! more

Best-Priced Piano Movers in Buffalo 1/29/2008

Most affordable piano movers in Buffalo--I called everyone int the phone book and these guys beat their best by $40. more

Great Company 8/9/2007

I was very pleased with the moving company. They allowed me to adjust the number of items to be moved to adapt to my budget. They took extraordinary care not to damage my furniture and also took measures to avoid damaging the hard wood floors in the process. They still managed to work at a quick pace and came with 5 men who were very knowledgeable in how to move/turn furniture to remove it from my upstairs apartment- this included a piano which many movers will not even consider moving from upstairs. The cost was much lower than quotes I had received from other moving companies ($150 to move the piano while other companies came in at $250 or more) I was a little nervous going with them because of the first review I read here but I have to agree with the second person. I don't know how things could have gone any better. I have moved several times and always have found damage to my propery but in this moved I have found none. I recommend Hermans hightly. Pros: Flexible, Affordable, Careful, Quick, Polite more

Extremely dependable 4/13/2007

Contrary to the other review. I have used this company in my last 4 moves. They have always been prompt, professional, thorough and honest. As movers, I didnt expect them to come in with tuxedos. They were extremely helpful during the entire process. They are also very reasonably priced. I have receommende them to many friends and relatives who were also very pleased. Pros: very capable and reasonable more

Hid Broken Items 6/10/2006

I used Herman Movers for one of my many moves. The movers were very sloppy looking, but they were prompt. After the company had left my home I started to arrange my furniture. I was VERY disappointed to find that they had broke a leg off one of my chest of drawers. They had set the chest where I wanted and very delicately placed the broken piece underneath the chest for me to discover at a later date. I never contacted the company to complain. I did even worse! I have moved 5 times since that and never used them again. I also offer my bad experience to anybody moving. This would not have been a problem for me if they had been honest and advised me of the damage. What was extremely upsetting is that they not only failed to tell me, but they also tried to cover up the damages! Pros: Prompt. Cons: Damage furniture, hide it and fail to tell owner! more
