Great Service 2/6/2012

We just closed a purchase of a condo which we got at a foreclosure sale. On these there is no seller around to help you so we were lost. Harris Properties came through to help us with our lender paperwork; they delivered a remote for the garage: they showed us our parking spaces and they even arranged to mount the elevator pads needed on moving day. Nice job guys! more

Great Accounting Department 1/8/2012

The accounting department at Harris Properties is the best. I own numerous condominiums throughout the southern California area. Harris Properties was able to provide a ledger of all transactions to my unit going back fifteen years. The other management companies I deal with can only provide current years transactions or refuse to show me activity on my units. The accounting team at Harris Properties is honest and accurate. more

He does not respond to phone calls, written letters or emails until you call him out on it. He does not like dealing with any HOA members - period, although our contract mandates it. more

Avoid it like a plague 8/31/2011

Worst service ever. Simple requests of OWNERS (add my name to the directory) go unheeded after multiple attempts. Forget about anything serious like the building conditions or the poor renters. Deteriorated security of the building and basically words cannot describe their lack of integrity and their intimidation methods (Steve Chamberlain quote at a board meeting to board members while a tenant was speaking: ""I will sue you if you let him speak""). What else do you need to know? more

Lionel Harris is no good 6/14/2011

Lionel Harris is a rotten son of a bitch. My husband is on the board of directors who hired Harris to manage our 8 unit building. Two days before our refi was to close, our bank sent a one page document for Harris to verify the number of units in the building, etc. His response: demanded $295 IN CASH, before he would even look at it. When I got to the office, I found out that he would NOT give change from my $300, after he got my money he said it could take up to two WEEKS to fill out the one page form, then sent a note to my bank insisting that the bank sign off on questions he refused to answer. My banker was stunned, and finally said that they would go without the form because it was just a formality, and something most management companies would do for free or perhaps a $25 fee. Harris refused to give me my money back, and claimed that he was within his legal rights. Do NOT use his company. This paternalistic bastard is one person I never hope to see again. more

Satisfied Board Member 2/23/2011

I have been a board member for five years with Harris as our management company. We routinely ask them to write a letter to an owner who is breaking the rules or being difficult for their neighbors. We want to be somewhat anonymous because we live next door to them and we don't want an awkward trip to the elevator. The issues are generally inconsiderate things like parking permanently in the guest parking, or smoking on the patio or playing music too loud. Most times these issues are cleared up quietly but sometimes the offender becomes belligerent, demanding his ""rights"" as an owner. This is where the manager takes the heat...but isn't that what we pay him for? Unfortunately, when the belligerent owner can't get his way, he calls the manager ""rude"". It seems the new definition of ""rude"" is any refusal to ""do it my way."" We have always found the people at Harris to be professional, considerate and understanding and those who deisparage them are just plain annoying! more

Harris Properties Responds Quickly 2/22/2011

Our garage flooded last year on a Saturday night. When we discovered it the following morning, we called their emergency line. They responded within several minutes and by late morning they had a guy there with some pumps that emptied the garage out. Great response! more

Zero Complaints 2/21/2011

I own an apartment building which has been managed by Harris for eighteen years. I am retired now and count on the building for my retirement income. Over the years they have recommended maintenance that has kept the property in top condition and desirable for tenants while avoiding unnecessary expense. My long experience with them gives my wife and me the comfortable sense that our future income is secure in their hands. more

A Trustworthy Company 2/21/2011

I am a CPA and a board member at my association. Naturally I look closely at the accounting records and practices and find Harris to be highly reliable and accurate. I have known horror stories from my associates about sloppy reports and bills being paid which belong to other associations. This has never happened since we came to Harris five years ago. more

I own five apartment buildings that Harris has managed for over 20 years. Their office staff is courteous, and know their business. They fill vacancies quickly with generally reliable tenants. Their selection and training of managers has a lot to do with the success of my buildings. I examine their reports monthly and whenever I have questions, they have the answers. I am happy to have them on my team. more

There is a common thread to the negative reviews here. They all come from people who clearly do not understand condo ownership. These are the same people who don't come to the meetings, who don't volunteer for the board or committees, and who don't get along with their neighbors. The Board makes the decisions based on what is good for the community as a whole. Sometimes those decisions rub someone the wrong way. Harris gets the job of relaying the message and they get the subsequent abuse. Our association has been with Harris since 1993. They are reliable, efficient, honest and competent. more

I live in an apartment managed by Haris Properties. Most of my contact is with their resident manager, Joe, who everyone loves. When we report a problem or a repair Joe calls the head office and the issue is fixed promptly. The tenants in the building appreciate this and many have lived here a long time. more

I have seen alot of stuff in my life. Some good, some bad but overall I try to maintain a positive attitude and have faith in people and their motives. All that changed when I became involved with Harris Properties. These people are downright CROOKS. They manipulate HOA fees, get their people voted in to HOA groups. Contact jobs to affiliated companies. CRIMINALS. Steve Chamberlain is the main culprit in this scam. This guy is a (pardon my language) dick. I honestly want to warn ANYONE, dealing with these people will leave you broke. Find another apartment, find another condo. I pray for Steve Chamberlain everynight...I know we can evolve passed this type of mongoloid. more

Horrible Company. They are defensive and downright MEAN! 10/18/2010

I seriously can't believe the mess we are in now. STEVE CHAMBERLAINE is our manager and he is a bully. When we complained about a problem they waited and waited and did nothing. Then he took credit for what I started--calling the fire department. They do not care about the tenants or their well being. Instead, Steve spent 20 mins on the phone yelling and screaming at me like he was a 3 year old child who couldn't control his tantrum. After asking him multiple times to calm down and conduct himself in a mature way, he still kept his intimidating, abusive tone. They are highly unprofessional. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST or suffer like all the other reviews you are reading.. I am now going to write more reviews, contact the BBB, and whoever else I can find. Then, it will be an uphill battle to get the board to fire this horrible management company! They seriously need to hire anger management doctors for their employees because they are down right rude, defensive, and abusive. more
