I have been involved with the Government Center Child Care Corporation for 10+ years. As an employee and as a parent of an infant enrolled at the JFK center, I can tell you that the comments below (MH and Concern P) are NOT true and seem to be written by a disgruntled ex-employee. The staff is given appropriate time off and never once have I or any of my coworkers had an issue with being able to use the restroom. I have had to call out when I have been sick and recently when my son was sick. During these times I have spoken to both the director and assistant director and have had nothing but compassion from them. As for the turnover rate most of the staff have been there at least a year and many of us longer (at least 3 of us have been there over 10 years).\r \r As far as the comments from “concern P” (which I believe to be the same disgruntled employee): The site director that she speaks of is well liked by all of the families. When families (and staff) found out she was leaving they (we) were all very upset. All of us, staff and families, were happy to have her back. \r \r The GCCCC is a great place to work and an even better place to have your child. more

As a parent of two children I have been with the Government Center Child Care for many years. You could not ask for better care for your children. The management staff is well educated, experienced and professional. The manager and assistant manager have been there for well over 20 years each. I have got to know them very well. They have always been available to answer my questions and always made me feel welcome. Hundreds of families have gone through this center and they have a wonderful reputation in the community. \r \r Their goal is to put the welfare of the children and families 100% first, making the health and safety of the children a top priority. They maintain a constant vigil with the teachers and staff to make sure this goal is maintained. When you walk in the center, the first thing you will notice is that all the teachers and staff are in great spirits. They are proud and happy to be in a childcare environment that encourages them to provide top quality care.\r \r It appears by a couple reviews, that a few employees were not up to this task. As in any business, it is good that they have moved on, leaving the welfare of the children to the caring staff that always remains. \r more

I have sent two children to the JFK child care center. I work at the JFK buidling so having the chidlren so close to my office was a plus. My children as well as the others at the center were treated wonderfully. There is an open door policy so parents are encouraged to come and go as they please. Both my children loved the staff(that dared to stay). Having said that I have to add, unfortunately, MH is correct. While the rooms are kept clean and children certainly seem overall happy, staff turnover is atrocious. I have seen some superb staff come and leave in a matter of months. I suspect it is b/c of the Site director(who has no children) and is extremely opinionated and rude. I have overheard how staff are spoken to and quite frankly it is down right mean. And it seems they are always asking for either money(fundraisers) or help w/ contributeing food to events etc. \r I do feel badly for the children when they get used to staff members only to see them leave so soon. The sad part is the Site director had put her resignation in and then came back!!. I was hopeing they would get a better, more humane site director...perhaps in the future. \r who are we supposed to complain to about the managment at JFK? more

Excellent Facilities in a wonderfully secure building in superb location next to North Station/TD Garden. A young staff with genuine love of working with children. Site director has over 20+years history with the center. Classrooms are cheerful, well laid out and full of age appropriate materials. Fully accredited and licensed. Downsides are high turnover of teachers and a lack of caring by the directors for the health and well being of the staff. Making teachers work with high fevers and other illnesses and not allowing them to use bathroom facilities when they need to is normal practice. This is the tip of the iceberg that staff have to contend with. They are more concerned with following the letter of the law with state regulations then they are in real life human needs and situations.\r So if you are a parent looking for a place for your child and are not concerned that the staff leaves out of discontent on a regular basis then this is the place for you. If you are a teacher looking for a job and don't care much about being treated with respect this is the place for you.\r Finally, the head director (who doesn't really work with the kids that much) has a fantastic resume in the childcare world and a sunny smile. She can get almost any kid to nap. Don't let that fool you. She is a stone cold bitch who makes up reality to suit her.\r more

Wonderful, Quality Childcare 10/15/2011

My family has been associated with the Government Center Child Care Corporation for many years. I am a parent of 3 children, and have had children at both sites- My oldest attended the JFK site for the first year until he could be placed at the O'Neill Center. I have had wonderful experiences at both sites and am very thankful that my children have had the opportunity to attend these quality centers. The administration and staff are very dedicated and compassionate. They are available to answer questions anytime. I feel they are part of my children's extended family. My oldest recently graduated and was more than prepared (socially and academically) for the challenges of their new school. As a parent I have been extremely happy with every aspect of the care that my children have received! I have recommended GCCCC to many of my family and friends. more

Two outstanding early childhood educational facilities. As a former employee and a parent of two attending children I can really tell you that the two irrational and negative comments are 100% inaccurate. If you are looking for a place that your child can grow and develop as an indivudual this is the place to be. Well accredidated Staff and Directors. Knowledgable in every aspect of early childhood education. As a parent you will definatelly be happy to know that your child is receiving outstanding care and education. Awesome, friendly and family environment not only for the children but for the parents to. more

2 centers located in Boston. They are the best of the best. Children receive top quaility care and education by a very educated and caring staff. As a parent I can honestly say you will be happy if you are lucky enough to get your child into one of these fabulous centers. The directors are very knowledgeable and have created a family friendly community. more

Horrible daycare and bad place to work 4/6/2010

Everything in this review is completely accurate! The JFK daycare is equally bad. The directors are mean to their staff, Very HIGH turnover rate which is not good for the children. People have quit there w/out notice, just wouldn't show up. The directors are more worried about keeping the parents happy than to show decency to the staff. The salary for the staff is the lowest that anyone pays teachers out there. They cry poor all the time but everything is donated and other companies pay the majority of their bills. They are usually not within ratio and only give the employees 30 min breaks. Why would you send your child to a place that is overall a horrible business atmosphere and that every 6-9 months they will have a new teacher again? This is by the far the worst daycare. Response to the first comment: If you sent your kids there than how can you say that the original comment was from an disgruntled employee? How would you know that? And who are you to say that people that work there are wrong? As a parent you dont know the real things that go on so you really dont know what you are talking about... Pros: great space Cons: everything else more

God Awful 4/6/2008

I worked at the O'Neil Federal Bulding Child Care over ten years ago. The staff was treated with little or no respect and the turnover was incredibly high... when I left after 2 years there was no one working there that was working there when I started. The directors were lazy, indifferent and straight up mean. The playgrounds were unsafe. The rooms were not age appropriate. I have been working in the field over ten years now and have never worked in a place as bad as this. more
