Gilbert's Garden Ctr

We recently visited Gilberts Garden Center and I wanted to comment on our experience. I was surprised to find the other review here because our experience was quite the contrary.\r \r We found out that Gilberts was under new ownership and decided to check them out. We found the overall appeal and product selection to be very pleasing. We were greeted by a staff person who immediately asked if they could help us. We told them that we were interested in doing a landscape project and that we were looking around. We were planning to do a larger scale landscape project and we visited several of the local garden centers. In fact Gilberts was our last one to visit. \r \r The staff person got the owner who introduced himself. We were surprised by the amount of time he spent with us since we didnt have an appointment and they were fairly busy at the time. We informed him of our intentions and after explaining to him our ideas, we set up an appointment with him to visit our home.\r \r We were pleased with his promptness. He listened to our ideas and suggested many of his own. He came back to us after 2 weeks and might I add in the time frame he promised. We were very pleased with his ideas. We did make some changes and he did design a water feature into the design. We were surprised because its not something we considered. We were a little reluctant but we can honestly say it was the best thing in the whole project. We spend a lot of our time sitting near our water garden. Our children love watching the fish.\r \r During the project when the owner wasnt available we felt quite comfortable in speaking with the other nursery and garden center staff. They were always accomodating and able to answer our questions.\r \r We've had a lot of nice comments from our friends and recommend Gilberts to anyone looking to do a landscape project. \r \r They had everything we needed for our landscape. Pros: Atmosphere, Variety, Nice watergardens, Nice plant selection Cons: Parking, it was a busy day. more

I spent alot of $ at this business this year and have had nothing but problems since I first ordered from them. After placing orders for nursery stock, it took very long to get it in (and the one tree I ordered died) and when I had questions, the people that answered the phone were very rude...I realize it's their busy time, but we, the customers, are the ones making it busy. There are alot of places that I could have went to, but tried this one and I will never be back. I garden alot and talk to alot of people about gardening and others have told me of similar experiences with Gilberts. When you order from a place, you just want healthy plants at a good $, within a resonable time limit and nice customer service...being there for the customer and what they need.
