Slow receiving quote and much more expensive than the rest 2/13/2012

It took some time for us to get a quote even after calling and emailing multiple times. Even after receiving the quote Gentle Giant was over twice as expensive as every other quote we received. They'll tell you that's because they give great customer service, but if that's the case why did it take repeated emails and phone calls just to get a quote? Apparently others have had great experiences with this company, but not me so I leave my rating as it stands. more

Highly recommend! 10/6/2011

The Gentle Giant Moving Company assisted us in our move in 2010. The crew arrived on time, dressed professionally, and were ready to prep as soon as they arrived on site. Crew included three men and they literally started running as soon as they arrived. They were very careful with our belongings and professional when they addressed my husband and myself. They took care to find out what needed to go on the truck last as to have it out first, which was my child's crib so he could take his nap when we arrived at our destination. There was not a moment when they were not working. In fact, I had no doubt in my mind that we would get it all moved in one day (four bedrooms and many stored items). They made two trips in the truck (I underestimated the size of some items, oops!) and still had it all moved in about 8.5 hours!!! They were incredible! We were very pleased customers and will recommend them to friends and family! more

Highly recommended!! 9/27/2011

My husband and I could not believe our eyes! Running! These movers are running back to the truck to get more stuff to bring in! LOL It was something to behold! \r \r Our crew, Ian Straub, Aaron Trent and Brian O'Connor, were just great. Polite, friendly, helpful and on top of the situation. The estimate was accurate, the work, well-done.\r \r Moving is such a stressful time, and to have a crew of people show up and just so obviously know what they are doing, is a blessing. Thanks Gentle Giant. We will spread the word! more

Charlotte's BEST movers!!!! 9/13/2011

when i asked a friend who she used to move, she didn't hesitate to give RAVE reviews to Gentle Giant Movers. i hadn't heard of them, but called and set up a date for my FREE on site estimate. Bob showed up on time, was professional, covered all the bases and answered ALL my questions....even the ones he knew to ask me that i had either forgotten about or wasn't experienced enough to know to ask. i booked them that afternoon and set up our move date for 2 weeks later. they were superb at managing my request for a move date right around the corner. on move day, i was still continuing to be surprised. i had heard their 'thing' was that they RAN between the truck and house. i was doubtful, getting paid by the hour, after all. well, needless to say i was shocked to have 4 men with some air under their feet at 8am. they moved all the furniture in my entire 3500sq ft home in 5 hours!!! most important they took note of my special items and requests....like making sure the crib was the first thing set up at the new house so my 13 month old could get her 2pm nap. it was set up perfectly and she got to sleep in her new house in peace because the move was already completed by then. the crew was friendly and professional and i will recommend them to EVERYONE i know that is moving. FANTASTIC JOB GENTLE GIANT. you have a customer for life!!!!! more

Gentle Giant Movers are the Best! 9/10/2011

I used Gentle Giant Movers in Jan. of 2007 and WOW they were great. They moved our entire 2500 sq.ft house and my 1100 sq.ft. woodworking shop in 8.5 hours. Not only were they effiicient but they were very pleasant to be around. They were polite and courteous to each other. I never heard a single expression of anger or frustration during the entire day. I did shop around for prices and they beat them all. The manager was glad to come out and give an estimate which was accurate. \r So as you might think, the next move we had to make was Aug. 19 of this year, 2010. The crew that showed up was equal to the first crew. They wrapped all the furniture in blankets and finished in 4 hours!! We had much less to move this time but it was still amazing! \r I heartily recommend this company. The crew: Michael Valle, Chris Plyler, Ian Straub and Adam Hunnicutt were just great. Once again: Polite, courteous, clean and efficient. Easy, Smooth Move 8/30/2011

We have now used Gentle Giant twice for local moves in Charlotte, NC and will never use another moving company! They were fantastic and well exceeded expectations. Both times they were prompt, professional and pleasant, arriving on time and introducing themselves. They take very good care of your property and and actually run in and out of your house to make the move as quick as possible! It's amazing to see the pride that they take in the job that they do. I could not have been more pleased with the experience - professional and super wonderful movers who were gracious and helpful during every step of the process. BEST ... MOVING ... COMPANY ... EVER! 1/19/2011

This was the best moving experience I could have experienced to date! I have had some terrible moves in NC, IN and CA but this move with Gentle Giant to our current home in Fort Mill was all smooth sailing! From the initial estimate to the final box moved into our home, they were courteous and professional, all the way! Gentle Giant met pricing from a competitor and the gentlemen moving us could not have been more polite, energetic or careful with our items. They took only a 30 minute lunch break and never stopped moving as quickly as they could before or after lunch, until the job was completed. They even came in $200 less than our estimate, wow! I would highly recommend this company for your moving needs!! more

Great Customer Service 4/13/2010

I was in NJ trying to set up a move for my daughter who attends college in Charlotte, NC. I had done a little research on the internet and contacted two companies, both on-line. I was extremely pleased with the prompt response and the very friendly gentleman who contacted me. He explained the process in detail, including the estimate for services, and I felt very comfortable about the company.\r \r On the monring of the move, the crew called when they were about ten minutes out and they arrived well within the window I was given. They were friendly and worked quickly and efficiently. While they were professional in both their work and their conversations with us, they were also pleasant and helpful in every way. \r \r The company's philosophy of employing college athletes has definitely paid off. The two gentleman who helped us with our move worked as a true team - which included us as the client - and they did their best to move our belongings quickly and with care.\r \r They moved my daughter from a second floor apartment to a three story townhouse and they did an awesome job. Everything arrived at the townhouse in the same condition in which it left the apartment. Their team work mentality and problem solving skills were quite evident throughout the move. They took extra care maneuvering up two flights on a tight staircase and were more than willing to arrange or place furniture wherever we asked. \r \r I would recommend Gentle Giant movers to anymore contemplating a move. Great Movers that Care about the Customer Needs 3/30/2010

This is my second posting about Gentle Giant Movers and this time they moved my wife and I from our apartment to our new home. We never second guessed in who we were going to use to help us move again as there is no other moving company that I would of used besides Gentle Giant. In two of our moves we have used other moving companies that did not care about our items and would take their time moving. Again, I was surprised in their professionalism. The day of the move, 3 guys showed up and they were very professional, very polite and were courtesy of my needs of what needed to be moved. The items that they were moving were heavy, bulky items that my wife and I just couldn't move ourselves. To my surprise, they wrapped each item completely with moving blankets to protect the furniture and they were very quick in loading and unloading the truck and even told me that they could move some other items that I was going to move myself. They walked throughout my apt and asked if they could move anything else for me or even help me with anything. Compared to any other moving company that I have used I would rate Gentle Giant with an A+ and hopefully other moving companies can learn from them. Thanks Gentle Giant Guys. Great Job!! Best movers I have ever used! 11/19/2009

In the past 8 years, I have had 3 local moves and 2 long distance moves, so I have a lot of experience with movers. While I never had a bad experience, Gentle Giant's recent local move for me from Mountain Island to Ballantyne was the best experience ever! All 3 guys on the crew were educated, clean and professional looking, and were focused on customer service. This customer service focus permeated the entire experience, starting with Jon, the sales manager. He gave me a quote and it was a little higher than some of the other quotes I had received. Because I felt more comfortable with his professionalism and knowledge when he came out to the house, I called and asked if he could match the lowest quote if I gave him flexibility to choose the move date. He was more than happy to do so. When the crew came out to my house, they all greeted me like an old friend and immediately gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing. Not only did they literally run throughout the day, but they also wrapped everything, stacked it carefully, and planned out how they were going to fill the truck to prevent shifting. After placing all of the items in the new house, they took me from room to room and gave me the opportunity to have them move things to different locations if it didn't look the way I thought it would. I love these guys and I highly recommend Gentle Giant to anyone that needs a mover! Pros: Professional, Educated Crew, Focus on Customer Service more

Great Movers 10/7/2009

My family recently relocated to Charlotte from the Northeast. We moved our furniture and belongings twice before we used Gentle Giant - who moved us into our new home. I was pleasantly surprised when I met the three young men at our storage unit one Saturday morning. Not only were they a delight to interact with, but they literally ran on and off the truck. We had all different size boxes and pieces of furniture (including a gigantic armoire) which they wrapped and cared for. They worked with us throughout the day and wer open to suggestions we had and did not mind when we had them move pieces from one room to another (to see if it looked good). The best part of Gentle Giant, was that the three young men were all so polite, professional, and just pleasant to deal with. Very unlike movers we have used in the past. Best Movers 9/28/2009

Our move with Gentle Giant was awesome. The two gentlemen they sent to move us were excellent. They really respected out time, our property, and us. I will definitely use them when we move again and I am referring them to everyone I know. I work at an apartment complex and have their cards here with me to hand out to residents moving in and out. \r \r Their prices were unbeatable and the fact that their guys RAN in and out of our house was impressive. Even more impressive were the guys themselves. My husband and I liked the fact that they both were highly educated, clean, and polite. \r \r I never expected to be so impressed!!!!\r Pros: Great Price/ Clean Courteous Workers more

Best moving company I ever had 9/28/2009

I had 3 guys move me and my family from an apartment in Charlotte to a 2 story home in York SC. They litterally RAN when they didn't have something in thier hands, They wrapped every single peice of wood furniture we had to protect it from being damaged. They cared for my items, When they were done, they walked us around the house and asked if anything could be moved to a different place. They bent over backwards to make our move great.
