My sister from California comes for a visit every year and always wants BBQ since Kansas City is known for the BBQ. I always take her to Gates and Sons and it is always a hit. They have the best lunch specials, a sandwich and fries. You can either get ham, turkey, or beef. They have a variety of sauces to choose from, I enjoy the sweet and mild. The restaurant is clean and the service is hard to beat. more

This is , hands down, my favorite restaurant in the Kansas City area. I love it and could easily eat here three times a week and never tire of it! The ribs and smoked meats are outstanding, as are the fries and side dishes. Service is quick and the building itself is neatly decorated. This is the first place I think to bring all of my out of town guests for lunch or dinner. I also purchases Gates sauces and rubs in my local grocery store. They sell gift sets that are always a hit as housewarming gifts! more
