I have been going to Fountain Firearms for about 6 years just to look ,can't afford to buy. I think the people who spend their money here either haven't looked for other gun shops or they just won the lotto. Their prices are way to expensive, I stopped to see how much their ammo was and it is priced more than triple for their 5.56 and 7.62 compared to Walmart and Academy maybe that's why they have alot of this ammo on the shelves. They do have a nice crowded selection of weapons and the gun smith is a pretty nice guy. If you looking to sell or trade, I would take my business somewhere else also. I saw a lady bring in 4 nice looking guns and rifles and the guy only gave her 250 dollars for them. I would have given her twice that amount,by they already made the deal. He knew he low balled her,she knew he low balled her and ditto for me.\r But he is in business to make money and one of the rifles was on the sale floor for what he paid her for all 4. more

Good Service and Reasonable Prices 4/22/2012

Just the other day I walked into the rustic looking store that is Fountain Firearms, where I found the place packed as usual with people purchasing guns and equipment. They were very busy, but the gun smith took time to help me with a problem with my SKS. He didn't charge me anything. I 've come to respect him and his staff. The tall man with the handlebar mustache sometimes gets me confused when we do business but he is sincere and he is helpful. Over the years I have purchased guns and sold guns. They are consistent with pricing and stand behind the goods. I've never seen any of the staff act in an unprofessional manner. Evenwhen I have asked for a favor. I've either been told they cannot do it or they have done it. I think that their prices are reasonalbe. I look at guns in other stores and I have purchased guns and equipment in other stores, but I always come back to Fountain Firearms. Pros: null Cons: null more

A First For Sure 12/28/2011

A couple years back I walked in after being at the range down the road. I went in with the intention of buying a couple mags. I walked out right after that. The guy behind the counter, not even helping me, offered me " two center mass". I had ask the sweet chick helping me if I bought two mags if she could knock off 5 bucks on each. Price was a little outrageous mind you. He over heard and made this off color comment. This fat, smelly dude referenced in another review might be the same fat smelly guy that offered to shoot me because I asked if they could give me 5 bucks off on a $60 purchase of used mags. I wouldnt go back to this place nor do business there ever again. It took all I had not to slap that dude or jump over the counter and knock his teeth out. If I hadnt been carrying concealed that day im not so sure I wouldnt have learned that boy good. Im not one to write a review good or bad, but I registered for an account just to review this place because of a similar experience a friend had there recently. This guy I dealt with is obviously there two or three years later. Bad service, dark, and dingy just like described by the other folks. Places like Fountain Firearms gives gun guys a bad name. I have heard many bad things about this place over the years. I just had a first hand experience of my own with them that I thought future customers should know before they have their lives threatened. Pros: null Cons: null more

Overpriced, cramped, dark dungeon 9/13/2011

This place is a throwback to when gun nut guys would run dark, dingy, cramped gun shops. This one even had what looked like a resident super gun freak who can only speak in firearm talk, and smelled bad. more

The dog is very welcoming 6/25/2011

I usually go into Fountain Firearms to browse, but I have used the armorer and he seemed very knowledgable and the asian guy was very helpful with a problem I was having with a 45cal ati titan. As people have said in the past reviews, the owner seems to be witch like the other staff are helpful and the little dog is the cutest...but I don't buy anything there due to the high prices... more

Just plain RUDE! 5/18/2011

I called this store to inquire about ordering a Kimber Solo. They were extremely rude and hung up on me. I have never done business with them before and NOW I will NEVER being doing business with them in the future. First impressions can make you or break you! more

Fountain Firearms 10/24/2010

Some good & some not so good points. I shop here only when I must. This store has a decent stock of guns, ammo, holsters, but little in the way of gun cleaning supplies. Their prices are about 15% - 20% higher than they should be for a suburban location. At least they are less than Collector's Firearms -- one of the worst for prices in the city. more

Transferee Beware - You're not welcome 12/17/2009

I called to ask that they send a dealer from whom I'm buying a handgun their FFL as I've done on at least 4 prior occassions. They informed me that the rules had changed and that instead of the usual $45 fee it would be $100 unless it was an item that they couldn't get. The handgun in question was a semi custom, hard to find item so we agreed it would be the $45. I went to pick up my gun today and as I finished doing the paperwork, the owner interceded in the transaction and demanded that I pay $100. I told her that I had called, been told of the new policy but that the handgun I was buying was indeed a hard to find item and that the gentleman on the phone had told me it would be the $45.00. She insisted on the $100 and threatened to return the gun to the sender. At the end of the day she relented, but not without first letting me know in no uncertain terms that transfers are a pain in the you know what, that she doesn't get anything out of them (hmmmm.. so I guess my $45.00 is insignificant to her) that she begrudged having to keep the record of the transfer for 20 years and that next time it would be $100. When I told her (and this is what really gets me) that I had had a conversation with one of her employees on the phone PRIOR to arranging for the transfer and that I didn't think it was right to change the rules mid-stream, she asked me for the name of that person and when I couldn't recall it she implied that I was lying. Now, the rest of the staff has been nothing but helpful and accommodating to me every other time, but this treatment from the OWNER of all people means I will never darken their doorway again, for transfers or for any other purchase of anything whatsoever. Pros: Nice Staff Cons: Not so nice owner more

These People Know Guns 2/16/2004

This place is run by craftsmen in the old sense of the word. Lots of knowledge. Particularly good for tactical pistols but the gunsmithing service (rifles, shotguns, pistols) is excellent (quality and price). New and used guns available. Holsters, ammo, accessories as well. It looks a bit cluttered, that's because it is chock full of stuff. Don't hesitate to ask for help, particularly if you are a neophyte. Pros: Tactical pistols, Gunsmith, Knowledgeable staff more
