  • Named after the famously enormous 123-year-old Morten Bay Fig tree at the hotel's entrance, this welcoming eatery inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel not only has figgy tendencies, but it also strongly emphasizes sustainability and local ingredients. Led by chef Ray Garcia, the menu offers ingredient-inspired twists on traditional bistro fare. Think cashew butter with blue cheese and jelly sandwiches; curly endive with soft-poached duck egg and crispy pig's ear; and sablefish with tomato fondue and saba. It all might sound a little fancy, but it's actually quite accessible. As for the space itself, it's got a comfy vibe with lofty white ceilings, a wall full of sunburst mirrors, striped banquettes, huge windows that look onto the pool and a pewter bar and communal table for those dining (and drinking) solo.
