Fabulous cut and color! 2/23/2010

I live in the Lakeview area and I have been trying to find a salon where I can get my hair colored the way I want and at an affordable price. Evolution was both of these and more. Moulouka is a very talented stylist. She did my highlights exactly the way I asked her to. I also made it clear that I just wanted my hair lightly trimmed since I am trying to grow it out and she just cleaned up my ends so that my hair was healthier, but it barely looked like it was cut at all which is exactly what I asked for! She was very, very nice and gave me her honest opinions on the best colors and styles for my hair. The best part was that everything was affordable--I got a full highlight, shampoo and cut, blow dry and style and new shampoo all for less than I used to pay for just a highlight at some salons. i highly recommend Evolution. Bad Haircut and Color! 2/9/2010

I had my hair cut there and it was awful. there is a 2 inch difference form one side to the other. It doesnt blend at all. The color was not what i was looking for. The staff was nice, but the stylist kept walking away from me to do other things and I felt like I was not important. I'm very disappointed in my hair cut and with not go back again. more

What a Salon! 9/27/2009

My name is Melissa and for the past 6 months I've been looking online and found Evolution Hair Salon. So I went and checked it out and the salon was like the home I never had. My stylist Moulouka was so helpful and friendly and she really tried to make me feel relaxed. I got a blonde color and cut service from her and let me tell you no one in chicago does it like her! This is the best salon by my standards and If you go here you'll never regret it! Pros: Really nice atmosphere Cons: Have none! more

excellent haircut at a resonable price 3/21/2009

I was delighted to discover evolution hair salon on belmost and halsted 18 months ago and have been a regular customer of theirs ever since.I have tried quite a few hairdressers in Chicago and this place is definitely the best. Malouka is an expert in several different types of hair styles,high lights and coloring and I have been more than satisfied every single time I have been there.They work a very flexible schedule and drops in are always welcome without much of a wait.I would definitely urge you to visit this place and I am sure you will want to keep coming back. Awesome Hairstylist and Friendly and Easy Going Atmosphere 12/8/2008

I have been coming to Evolution Hair Salon for about 3yrs now. When 1st moved to Chicago I had really hard time finding a stylist who could manage very long (waist length) and thick hair. When I finally found Moulouka, I was relieved to find someone who could give me a relaxer without chemical burns which is very typical because it so hard to apply a relaxer to so much hair in a short time. She also blowdrys my hair very straight without the need to use a flat iron. No one has ever been able to do that with my hair. What's more, there prices are very reasonable, Molouka has yet rise my prices, even though my hair keeps getting longer. They are friendly, always offering refreshments and offer to feed your meter when you are being served. I highly recommend Moulouka and her staff, they are friendly, talented and provide services for all her types. Pros: Great Atmosphere/Reasonable Prices more

High quality service 11/11/2008

Moulouka's been doing my hair ever since I moved to the neighborhood, about four years ago. She always does a great job with cut and color, with little to no direction from me. My hair is curly and frizzy, and she gives it a deep conditioning treatment and makes it look good, whether I decide to go curly or have it blown out straight. For the services rendered, the prices are very reasonable, too. The salon staff is also flexible and willing to schedule appointments in the evenings and on weekends. Highly recommended. Being in Chicago for only two months now, I picked this salon because of the good reviews on this site and despite the bad : ) and it was definitely the best choice. Mouluka, my hairdresser, did an excellent job, I think I got the nicest haircolor I ever had! Although I was totally undecided what I wanted to have, she coloured my hair in a colour that suited me perfectly. Plus, she was really nice and friendly. Evolution Hair Salon is the best place to go to with your hair. They have such a relaxing atmosphere that it feels just like home.And I felt that that my stylist Moulouko was sincere with my needs and got them done the best she could have. Avoid Evolution Hair Salon 5/15/2008

I looked on this website for a new hair salon because I was new to Chicago. The reviews said it was affordable and good cuts. I have my hair cut like Victoria Beckham's bob and just needed a trim. The hairdresser that cut it just needed to follow the style. Instead I ended up with a 70's pixie bob and she cut the back of my hair with a razor so far up that it was into my hairline, just because I have a colic back there that is sometimes hard to deal with. The wash was even bad, no massaging, nothing pretty much poor the shampoo on and rinse. Then when she was styling it I told her not to put product on my hair because it's very fine, so she went ahead and put a bunch of gel in the back of my hair(probably to cover up her mistakes in my hair so it would lay right.) When I got home I figured maybe I could deal with it and wear it behind my ears until it grew out a little because she also cut it way too short only to find out, it was completely uneven on the sides and I had specified that I had that haircut but I wanted both sides even. I had to go get another haircut later that evening it was so bad. I do not recommend this place at all, unless you have long hair and just need a trim and even then I still wouldn't go there !! My Favorite Hair Cut! 1/18/2008

I just got home from Evolution hair salon and absolutely LOVE my hair cut! Moulouka, my stylist, did a great job of advising me which length would look better on me and what styles would accent my facial lines better. i couldn't be more pleased with my hair cut, I got exactly what I was looking for. I'm definitely going back for high lights when I get my next pay check! This was a great experience and I will only use them for as long as I live in Chicago. They're not only great, but convenient too; right next to the Halstead/Belmont bus stop on the Belmont or Halstead Bus, and only two blocks from the red line at the Belmont stop. And the price couldn't have been better; $45 for a hair cut and style...If you're looking for a new hair cut and unsure where to go, check out Evolution, I promise you won't regret it!! more
