Essence of Touch Day Spa

On Feb 12, 2009 I tried to cancel a massage appointment for Feb 13, 2009 three hours outside of the 24 hour cancellation policy due to just finding out that I had lost my job. I was not trying to cancel for some frivolous reason, but because a massage is too extravagant an expense when unemployed. Instead of understanding the extenuating circumstances and keeping my business for the future, the person I talked to (she would not give her name) insisted on charging me $19.50. I ended up keeping the appointment to avoid a dispute over that charge, but this behavior is completely unethical and every potential customer should know how this company operates. My future business could have been saved as well as the business of the all the people I could have referred to this day spa. On top of the bad judgment of this company, the person who answered the phone refused to give their name. That is childish and unprofessional. In addition to losing my business forever, this complaint will be on record and I will tell everyone I can find about their behavior. It's not just this business that is losing money over immature behavior, it is also the massage therapist who is losing out. I will be sure she knows about it during our appointment. When i received my massage at essence of touch it was not relaxing at all it was very noisy and i really didn't like the jazz music because it did not help me relax at all. Also i was cold during my massage and the therapist didn't get me a blanket. I didn't enjoy the massage it was too deep and it really hurt me the day after. I would not reccommend this place it was definately not money well spent i really wanted to relax and i just left even more stressed out....... Pros: the parking Cons: the service more

This place is lousy. I went there when I was 8 weeks pregnant and was refused service after I was already undressed and on the table for my massage. Your typical Swedish Massage is not harmful in pregnancy and these ignorant women working there had zero facts to back up their position. They did not apologize or offer another service. They just we can't work on you today and I dressed and left. It was very embarrassing. The owner found out about it later - she disagreed with her employees and was very angry with them. She offered me the opportunity to come back at a 10% discount. I thought that was pretty lame - a measly 10% discount. Didn't seem like she wanted my business back that badly. If I were the owner, I would have apologized profusely and offered a free service. But i gave them the benefit of the doubt since they are conveniently located to me and made an appt. The massage I had was o.k. but there is no ambience. the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the whole place. bad musak on the speaker system - not soothing or relaxing at all. then the same rude receptionist processed my bill (and did not apologize for her bad treatment of me at the first visit where I was refused service) and had the nerve to ask out loud if i wanted to leave a tip - instead of discreetly presenting my bill so i could decide whether to write in a tip or not - in private. of course i wanted to leave a tip - but what if i had told her no? would she have scowled at me or huffed about it??? very unprofessional. my spa experiences on the north side have in general been very poor. no class, no professionalism. just take your money. more

I went to the new Essence of Touch location in Bradburn Village for a facial, and although it was not a typical spa facial, it was a very nice experience. Amanda, the spa owner is very friendly and outgoing. What I mean by the facial not being typical was that she did not do any invasive things, such as extractions, but it was incredibly relaxing and very rejuvenating. Prices are reasonable, and you get a discount for booking your next appointment if you book before you leave. I am already scheduled to return! Atmosphere is quiet, friendly, and casual.
