Elliston Place Pipe & Tobacco

I've been smoking pipes for over 30 years now and shopping in pipe shops in several states for that time. Elliston Place Pipe and Tobacco is one of the finest if not THE finest pipe shop I have ever entered. The owner is gracious and very giving of his time and expertise. The prices are more than reasonable. He doesn't raise prices to get the most money, but to assure a great value to the customer. The selection of tobaccos is diverse and strong. I will continue to shop here, albeit not as often as I would like due to financial constraints on my part, as long as I can. This business should be patronized regularly. I bought two pipes at an excellent price, $130 each, which were easily worth $250 or more each. The owner had kept the prices at their original point when the pipes came in several years previous to my purchase. He didn't raise hi prices to ""maximize"" his profits! Astounding, and such great ser vice along with the purchase! more

This place has been around for a very long time and since going in as a kid with my father, to today as a grown 35 y/o man, it still is one of the best Tobacco Shops in TN! \r \r They're very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great selection will help you with any questions you have.\r \r I have smoked pipes, cigars and cigarettes on occasion (off and on) since I was 18 (not a chain smoker). I've hated the mass produced cigarettes as they stink and taste bad. The gentleman working this past Sunday helped me select a Turkish cigarette tobacco and really thin rolling papers - then showed me how to roll it. After I got home, I tried my first hand rolled cigarette! It was so smooth and so much better than any already rolled pack! I'm sold for life on this - never will waste my time with the mass produced stuff again! \r \r I would like to add, these gentlemen are very honest. See, my Dad is older now and he had accidentally left about 4 cigars behind in a rush. We went to Elliston place yesterday and the owner remembered my father had left them, knew the brand even, and didn't charge him for 4 of his 7 cigars! Very honest businessmen - that's hard to find nowadays! more

Excellent place for smokes. Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly. Be prepared to be Id'd though, owner and staff just doing their job. Don't get all prissy like the JERK who wrote the comment about the owner being a jerk because he was carded and didn't have an ID. Grow up! I would recommend the place above all else. more

So I'm supposed to write this as if to a friend. So, FRIENDS do not go to this place. Do not spend your money there! The owner is a JERK. I would use stronger language but want this review to get published. Seriously, JERK. Don't waste your time with him. more

I recently bought my first ""good"" pipe here. And they were very helpful in helping me choose a pipe. They also have a wonderful selection of tobaccos. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to start with a pipe or an old hand . they will get my business in the future! Pros: great selection more

I've never seen such a wide selection and good quality pipes in any store before. They have many Meerschaum pipes or some high quality briar pipes, ranging in quality depending how much you may want to spend. If your a new pipe smoker or experienced they have the right pipes for you, ranging from around 10 dollar pipes to hundreds of dollars. Great customer service and an owner who is willing to take the time to answer questions to point you in the right direction. They also had a large selection of cigars too!! I'm trying to visit all the tobacconists in the area to see who has the most to offer, and this place is pretty good. There was a very cute young woman behind the counter that was very helpful and they have a good selection of English blends which is the mark of a good shop as far as I'm concerned. You'll also find lots of tobacco in bulk for those who like aromatics. I was in a hurry so I didn't have time to browse, but they had a TON of pipes, quite a few appearing to be estates (for the budget minded). Not being a cigar smoker I didn't pay a lot of attention to what there was to offer but I can tell you it was all housed in a very nice humidor and it was stacked floor to ceiling. \r \r I've never even heard of this place although it's been around since 1977 I believe. Parking is a little inconvenient (I was able to park on the curb right in front of the store but I did not feed the parking meter and no I didn't get caught ; ) ) but I understand they have more parking around back. I'm now a big fan of Elliston Place Pipe and Tobacco and will be back soon. This is the first truly positive experience I've written about here at citysearch so for those of you who's businesses I've visited and given a bad review to, visit THIS smoke shop.
