Buyer Beware!! 12/20/2018

Building Dreams – Mine is a Nightmare MY ROTELLE BUILT HOUSE IS ROTTING FROM WITHIN Rotelle Builders built my home in 2005. The entire house has to have the stucco removed due to poor craftsmanship and oversight by Rotelle. The remediation is going to cost over $100,000. I met with the Chief operating officer as The President, Peter Rotelle would not talk to me even after I walked in, dropped off letter and multiple emails. I was told by the CFO that the house was built to specifications and codes. When I questioned why my house and my Neighbors house do not have a weep screed, which is required on a stucco house and gives water a place to drain instead of having the water that has penetrated the building envelope to sit there, grow mold and rot the framing and sheathing of the house, he responded that it is up to the township to make sure the house is built properly. That is a WOW! The house cost $550,000 and it is up to the township to have your house built properly. The house also has substandard flashing and no caulking around the windows to stop water penetration. When I questioned him after I was told they had no responsibility I was thrown out of his office when I mentioned I researched that question by interviewing moisture testing companies, remediation contractors and a paralegal and he was wrong. I would not recommend anyone to work with Rotelle builders all they are interested in is making a quick buck and having the township make sure their homes are built properly. Maybe I am wrong but I thought that was why you hire a builder, to build the house correctly. Rotelle probably will respond to this review and surely pass the responsibility of making sure a house is built properly on someone else. In my opinion the house should not need $100,000 after 13 years. I have all reports and estimates to support this review. I do not wish this on anyone! Rotelle took lots of shortcuts, made many mistakes, and has horrible customer service. 6/12/2017

Fortunately, my husband was onsite every day, because Rotelle didn't bother to have a supervisor there every day. My husband caught several mistakes along the way. They took many shortcuts - like not centering one of our vanities, cutting sloppy holes for lights, poor door installation on several doors, closet doors were hung wrong, forgot to put down the Luan flooring base that we paid thousands extra for, etc. But the worst part was the customer service after the sale was finalized. I had a punch list of about 40 items, and it was so painful to get them fixed. They fought us tooth and nail on many of them. They didn't follow through on the items that needed to be fixed to get our permanent certificate of occupancy. The temporary one ran out and we literally could have been kicked out of our home until it was resolved, but the township was very kind about it. They planted grass on the hottest day of the year when there was no rain in the forecast for the next 9 days. They did the same to my neighbors today when it's 92 degrees. The feeling was that they were just checking off boxes with no consideration for doing things right. We had to reseed the entire yard to the tune of over $10K and had to refinish the garage floor for $4K because of their error and refusal to fix it. Everyone in our neighborhood are having the same problems. By the way - the 5 star rating by Douglas Shade, fyi he is an employee of Rotelle. more

Beware 3/22/2016

Horrible experience. There was no management of the subcontractors. The quality of the craftsmanship is unacceptable. Rotelle's customer service is non-existent. We have had to fix some major problems on our own. (money out of our pocket) Do yourself a favor and find a different builder. One who will stand behind what they build. Rotelle is not that builder!!! I wish someone would have warned us before we choose them as our builder. more

Save Yourself The Headache 12/4/2015

The complete lack of site management is astounding. Expect to have problems with your township, neighbors, building inspectors, and timelines working with this company. I have watched them drag their client into a needless lawsuit with their neighbors because of their lack of site management. The project is 6 months behind scehdule, they have cost the client 10k in legal fees, the neighbors and the new homeowners are at odds on day one of them moving in. more

Water in our basement 4/6/2011

Our house has had issues with water in the basement & the builder is unresponsive! I would highly advise anyone who is reading this to consider using another builder! more
